We had to change in Milan Central Station to go on to Florence.. and just loved the way the sun was setting through the golden glass...

“Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones we can only dream about.”

Quote ― Wilbert Awdry

These 'dinky toy' trains remind me of 'Thomas The Tank Engine, because of the colors and their shape, I guess. Funny, that I found a quote of the author of those great stories ;-))

Anyway, yesterday I showed you the whole train set (see first comment box, if you missed it), today a different view on the locomotives and their first car for three reasons: First the left red one has a different folded front and chimney, second I did a color change, third just because I like them ;-))

This will be also the last photo of this mini train series. Thank you all very much for your very nice and kind comments, views and favs, much appreciated!

I will be off for two weeks. Have fun and sweet dreams, take care and see you later ;-))

Paper:

I used double colored Kraft paper red/gold.

Both the locomotives are made out of three parts:

- the body 24x12cm,

- the wheels 19x11cm

- the red chimney 18x10cm and the golden chimney 20x8cm

Ensemble them together and you get the locomotive. No cuts, no glue.

Final size: length 12cm, width 3,5, height red locomotive 6,5cm, golden one 8,5cm

The little car is folded from a piece of Kraft paper 14x5cm

Final size: length 5cm, width 3,5 cm, height 4cm

This little car was borrowed from my husband's display cabinet.

Happy LCoF. Have a great weekend.

The small tractors that you see in the Kaiserstuhl wine region have been specially designed to drive between the rows of vines or fruit trees. This one reminded me of characters in children's books: Tractor Mac and Thomas the Tank Engine.

My kids are too old for these metal engines now, but I can't bear to throw them away....

Part of the stations of the Talyllyn Railway where the Rev Wilbert Awdry had the idea for Thomas the Tank Engine.

The great things about kids is being able to take time out and just play - they have the neatest toys and seem most happy to share. . .;)) In fact after while they wander off to play with something else that catches their eye and you get quality time with your toys of choice!! - gotta luv a train set. . .;)))

Have used up my broadband allowance so my speed has dropped to a crawl - waiting for images to load is almost excruciating!! So will take a while to comment on any uploads for a couple of days. . .;(((

I have been dreading the day I got a request for a ''thomas or friends'' cake.... so much so I think I developed a phobia haha, everytime I had a call about a little boy's cake, It filled me with panic! :o)) until they asked for something else..... But after 1 year of cake decorating I get my first request for Henry. I am glad I have done one now, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, so I will not be dreading the request anymore.... as they say, best to face your fears!! :o))

He is rather large, he's on a 15" board.

My Nephew Ciaran loves Thomas the Tank Engine. My dad (his grandad) organised a trip to the Severn Valley Railway to experience a day with Thomas and Friends. It was a fabulous day and however much Ciaran loved seeing Thomas, I think riding these magnificent trains really amazed him. He seemed to love feeling the wind in his hair, experiencing the smell of the steam engine and seeing these old and beautifully maintained carriages.

I had to lean quite a way out to get the shot and wait for a good bank so I could get the train extending into the distance.

Watercress Line

The Watercress Line is the marketing name of the Mid Hants Railway, a heritage railway in Hampshire, England, running 10 miles (16 km) from New Alresford to Alton where it connects to the National Rail network. The line gained its popular name in the days that it was used to transport locally grown watercress to markets in London. The railway currently operates regular scheduled services, along with dining trains, real ale trains and numerous special events throughout the year.

The Watercress Line has four stations on the site of former British Rail stations. All feature a passing loop, allowing trains to pass one another, with all but Alton station having two platforms connected via a footbridge.

Alton – at the north-east end of the line. Alton has one passenger platform.

Alresford – at the southern end of the line is the top visitor station and has the most passenger facilities, including a museum, buffet and two shops. Most of the carriage stock is stored at this station.

Its an endless line of metal Thomas the tank Engine trains and a few mini trams. I'm a train and (especially) a tram girl.

The diesel "troublesome trucks" giggle when you press their button, its very amusing.

WE HAVE THE GRANDCHILD AWAY.

The real sacrifice of being locked up in the house, because of Covid-19, is not being able to share one's distant affections.

We have a grandchild who will turn three in June and who hasn't seen us for over a month .... seeing him on WhatsApp and talking to him for a few minutes is not equal to the possibility of embracing and pampering him as was done some time ago.

The hope is that all this will end soon.
