After having eaten delicious meal
I am reminded of the Buddhist Mindfulness Trainings, especially the 5th one, Nourishment and Healing:
"Aware of the suffering caused by unmindful consumption, I am committed to cultivating good health, both physical and mental, for myself, my family, and my society by practicing mindful eating, drinking and consuming...I will contemplate interbeing and consume in a way that preserves peace, joy, and well-being in my body and consciousness, and in the collective body and consciousness of my family, my society, and the Earth."--Thich Nhat Hanh

Michael Jackson - This Is It
"This is it, here I stand
I'm the light of the world, I feel grand"
An FLI from me at last! It's been a while since my last one.
This was quite an interesting one to get right. Trying to get any room in my house really dark during day light hours is pretty difficult. Nevertheless it worked and it worked well. I went with something simple this week (mainly due to ongoing time constraints) but I feel it fits the lyrics well enough :)

“I arise today through the strength of heaven,
light of sun, radiance of moon, splendor of fire,
speed of lightning, swiftness of wind, stability of earth
firmness of rock.
I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s way to lie before me.”
—St. Patrick
Last year I visited a good friend in Australia. We made a road trip and spent some days in the grampians camping. My Leica Q was with me and I´d like to share some pics with you.

Michael Jackson, the 'King of Pop', who 'Moon walked' to the hearts of millions with his mesmerizing music and signature break dance in the 80s, died of a suspected cardiac arrest on June 25 - 2009 just weeks before his much awaited comeback concert 'This Is It'.
This shot was taken 'cover page' of Thriller (c) 1982 album (Epic record) produced by Quicy Jones which is the best-selling album of all time. Recently I got this album of half-a-dollar from a 'Garage Sale' at Saskatoon. This album had nine GREAT songs:
* Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
* Baby Be Mine
* The Girl Is Mine (With Paul McCarthey)
* Thriller
* Beat It
* Billie Jean
* Human Nature
* P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)
* The Lady In My Life

A neon sign high above the bridge over the Leidsegracht corner Herengracht. A shame the letters of the sign were not working anymore when we were there. But the idea was great, This Is It, Be Here Now.
Amsterdam Light Festival
The third edition for this Winter event in the city of Amsterdam. The theme for this year’s festival, ‘A Bright City’, challenges artists to create a tribute to life the city. The resulting artworks present a unique take on the modern city of Amsterdam.
The city will be complemented by light sculptures, projections and installations by contemporary (inter)national artists. The boat route, Water Colors, will take visitors past artworks along Amsterdam’s canals and the Amstel. The walking route, Illuminade, winds through the city center. During the festival, light will play a central role in the city as museums and institutions organize light-related activities, introducing visitors to innovations in light art.
The third edition of the festival will take place from 27 November 2014 to 18 January 2015. The boat route, Water Colors, will take place from 27 November 2014 to 18 January 2015, and the walking route, Illuminade, from 11 December 2014 to 4 January 2015.

This Is It, Be Here Now
Artist: Tropism; Alfred Marseille, Paul Godschalk
Location: Herengracht | Leidsegracht
This is it, be here now
In 1979 American multimedia artist Rudi Stern published his manifesto Let There Be Neon, a history of neon lighting and its implementation in art, architecture and advertisements. Stern dreamed in neon lights. In 1981 he said, “I have plans for neon sidewalks, neon highways, neon tunnels; neon on bridges, under water and alongside the contours of trees in the park.”
Stern passed away in 2006, but he would have been pleased to see the neon artwork of the Tropists. It has everything that makes neon so irresistible. The work is a line of text, like that used in American advertisements in the 1950s when salesmen and advertising men discovered the potential of the medium. In a variety of colors the artwork screams, THIS IS IT, BE HERE NOW, which also happens to be the work’s title. Clear and simple, it’s exactly what neon signifies. But above all, Stern would have been impressed with the way the artwork operates.
It flashes. It crackles. It sparkles. The artwork encourages visitors to come closer with its attractive colors and provoking message. At the moment the visitors arrive at the location they are beckoned to, the lights dim, accompanied by an array of loud rustling noises. Annoying, insidious and endlessly elusive, flickering in the periphery of your scope – that’s how neon should be. “An addition to the urban surroundings,” wrote Stern.
Tropism; Alfred Marseille, Paul Godschalk
Founded in 1987, artist collective Tropism has been active again since 2012. Cofounder and media artist Alfred Marseille (1961) and technician Paul Godschalk (1957) worked together to create this piece, THIS IS IT, BE HERE NOW. The collective creates artworks, installations, soundscapes and films, as well as curating complete exhibitions like Photosynthesis in the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam (2013) and Edinburgh, Scotland’s Botanic Gardens (2015). www.tropisme.nl
Hey Friends,
Flickr got a new design!! OMG!! Do you like it? I prefer the previous.
Last year, in October, I had a shooting with a wonderful couple. It was their first time in front of a camera and they did a really good job! K. wanted to give her man a stunning present. And she decided to donate him a couple shooting. We walked across the Tiergarten which is a big park in Berlin to the Potsdamer Platz. Having a lot of fun, our shooting tour ended up on the train station at Potsdamer Platz. I really love the location there with all its architecture and structures. If you want to shoot some urban stuff go their!
I hope you like the first result. Tomorrow more! Stay tuned guys.

An only-in-San Francisco event. I can't remember much about it, because I'm stupid. I think it started at the pointy building.

Shell Project #117
I am really starting to wonder about something that is quite remarkable. Do birds, animals and butterflies understand English??! This seagull (who I will refer to as Jonathan) was out of the shot and so I said to him, "Excuse me, Jonathan, but I am trying to get my shell shot and I'd sure like it if you would be in it, if you don't mind"
Well he looked at me and started to walk away. I pleaded (I did). I said, "Come on, please!!"
So he did. He just walked to the waters edge and stood there.
Small wonders never cease.
Continue to expect the unexpected.. it makes life fun!! :-)
explored... thanks everyone....

My fav MJ song (this song is BAD & Rad!), plus, some (not all) of the lyrics to MJ's, "Money."
The song at the end is "Easy Money," by King Crimson.
They Don't Care About Us was released in April 1996.
Filming in Brazil began February 11, 1996.
Read about the controversy of "They Don't Care About Us".

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay

Sometimes I feel as if I am saying the same things over again but just with different words. I’m ok with that. I think the miniscule matter of infinite galaxies lay beneath the surface of what I write. Like a whale song calling out across the universe searching for kindred spirits. Some of you will understand this, most probably will not but this does not worry me. I am not a voice for the masses. That goes against everything I believe in. My song is one sung in a key that strikes a chord with those rare and wonderful beings. Those left of field and out of the box. The few and far between. And so this call goes out like morse code, hoping for a reply.
It's hard to say that this is the end because my 365 really has been the beginning of something special for me. If I take a look back at the start it is quite plain to see that my photography has improved. I have become a lot more confident infront of and behind the camera. I have learnt a lot about basic editing. I have taken adventures across the world, and learnt and grown so much.
A few things about the photo... I wanted to have something to tie in with day one - all the way back in Vancouver in May last year. For some reason I'd kept that note and took it back to Australia with me and it has been on my desk ever since. Love is all there is. So it seemed appropriate to take it with me on the final 365 journey. Perhaps this isnt spectacular or amazing or my best photo ever but it means a lot to me and its a nice way to finish.... with love.
I'm glad to have those memories of my time in Canada and the US as well as all the time spent back home. I got Pete -my first DSLR in late December and I've been in love with him ever since. I've made some really good friends from all over the world and been so inspired by all of you. I cant tag people on this computer, but I want to atleast do a special mention to Lou, Adam, Jedd , Sarah , Seattle, Nagi, Sopranosflight , Heather Marie, <3Heather, Rob , Laura, William and Mariah . Thankyou for the constant support and encouragement from way back <3 And thankyou to all my other friends and contacts, you just really make everything better and I wish I could thank you all personally.
Also, a big thanks to my mum who I know will read this. You have put up with me at my best and worst creatively, you have been a wonderful friend and you have understood when I needed to go somewhere and helped me get there. I really do appreciate everything you have done for me.
I'm not going to pretend that every photo was perfectly on time and taken and posted on the same day, but I can say that my complete 365 project did all take place in the year from May 2010 to May 2011 and thats the main thing I wanted to focus on. It was tough and I'm not 100% satisfied with a lot of the photos but they chart my adventures and my progress and I am proud of that. I'm proud that I have stayed true to myself and tried to open up and let you see that there is beauty in imperfection. I can definitely say that there was only one time I really contemplated giving up but the support I had from you all really kept me going.
So where to from here? I can safely say that I wont be doing another 365 any time soon but I wont be disappearing from your screens. There is a spark inside of me that I dont see fading. And in August I go overseas to start another adventure in the UK and Europe, so there are some exciting times ahead.
Once again, thanks for everything. You have made this so much more fun.
Please dont ever forget how special you are.
