Top speed
German inspection officials recorded an average top speed of the original version of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph) during test sessions on the Ehra-Lessien test track on 19 April 2005.
This top speed was verified by James May on Top Gear in November 2006, again at Volkswagen Group's private Ehra-Lessien test track. Jeremy Clarkson, driving a Veyron from Italy to London, noted that at top speed the engine consumes 45,000 litres (9,900 imp gal) of air per minute (as much as a human breathes in four days). The Veyron has the highest top speed of any street legal production car. Once back in the Top Gear studio, James was asked by co-presenter Jeremy Clarkson what the Veyron felt like to drive at 407 km/h (253 mph), May replied that it was "totally undramatic", and very stable at speed. It only wobbled slightly as the air brake moved in the vertical position to slow the car down at lower speeds.
On 4 July 2010, Bugatti's official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel piloted the Super Sport edition and was clocked at an average of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) on the same track, taking back the title from the SSC Ultimate Aero TT as the fastest production vehicle of all time. The 431.072 km/h mark was reached by averaging the Super Sport's two test runs, the first topping out at 427.93 km/h (265.90 mph) and the second at 434.20 km/h (269.80 mph). The record run was certified by the German government and the Guinness Book of World Records.
The car's everyday top speed is listed at 350 km/h (220 mph). When the car reaches 220 km/h (140 mph), hydraulics lower the car until it has a ground clearance of about 9 cm (3.5 in). At the same time, the wing and spoiler deploy. In this handling mode the wing provides 3,425 newtons (770 lbf) of downforce, holding the car to the road.
For top speed mode the driver must, while at rest, toggle a special top speed key to the left of the driver's seat. A checklist then establishes whether the car and its driver are ready to attempt to reach 407 km/h (253 mph). If so, the rear spoiler retracts, the front air diffusers shut, and normal 12.5 cm (4.9 in) ground clearance drops to 6.5 cm (2.6 in).

This started out as a tribute to Horst's famous corset picture. The lighting was done with large studio lights, not a flash or strobe. Rarely do I see a model who so gracefully uses har hands.
This was over the Mississippi River at the Themis Street Flood Wall Gate.
Beautiful skies this morning! Enjoy!
This is absolutely my favorite recipe so far from King Arthur Flour's Whole Grain Baking. It was moist and delicious.
This year’s Kartik Kirtan and Dance night was celebrated in London, UK, in the presence of Paramahamsa Vishwananda. The event included dance performances, bhajans, the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, and special Hindu ceremonies just for this occasion. The location was filled with music, singing, and hours of dancing in honour and celebration of the Divine Form of Sri Krishna.

I will be adding to this album throughout August, with a second album possible also, so please keep checking back. Thank you to the performers for allowing me to photograph them and I hope you all enjoy the pictures.
Taken at the Mill of Kintail near Almonte. This is the way up from the parlor to the loft where various sculptures of Dr Tait McKenzie are displayed. In addition to his sculpting, Dr McKenzie "gained world acclaim for his pioneering work in preventive and rehabilitative medicine. Many of the exercises massage and hydrotherapy treatments he developed are still in use by physiotherapists today."
You may wish to go large (full-screen recommended) to view properly as this photo is both low-key and vertical. Click Mill of Kintail in the tag section to see more of this conservation area if you are interested.

This running Churchill IIIstar (a "funny" converted back to a gun tank with a welded turret and 75mm gun) owned by The Churchill Trust was for me the absolute star of The Tank Museum's Spring Tiger Day 2023: my first ever look at a working Churchill. This tank reflects pre-war Army doctrine that divided tanks into slow infantry "I" tanks intended to assist and move with dismounted infantry breaking into defended positions, while other, less armoured but faster cruiser tanks were held back to exploit a breakthrough. Increasing engine power as well as the resource-wasteful nature of this doctrine led to its abandonment as tanks both well-armoured and fast, with significant guns, were developed.
This was taken near Smyrna, DE. Temps were unusually cold, near 0 with the strong windchill. I think this Vulture was enjoying the heat being collected by this dish.
This is fuckin' BADASS!!! Whatever this is waited above an entrance to my clothesline pole (where there is a hornets nest in which I was about to spray) and I saw this thing go after one. Caught it, flew back onto the cross pole and went about eating it. Just for comparison, that is a full grown hornet it has underneath it. I would have to guess that it is the size of my thumb.
Update: It is a Robber Fly (Dasylechia atrox)
Bump measures the same as if I was pregnant with a singleton at 29 weeks - no wonder I feel huge :)
Starting to feel more movements from the babies now which is lovely.
Get very tired though and have carpal tunnel in my right wrist and oedema and SPD. Fun huh? Can't wait to meet them though.

This photo was taken right outside the Blacklick Woods Park Nature Center. She wasn't scared at all by the attention she got from all the park visitors. It actually seemed she was enjoying it.
This was shot today at jumeriah beach area and i must say i was totally not happy with this shot. I was not able to focus due to condensation on my lens. There was lot of hot spots These are just hot spots that are normal that show up in the very long exposures due to sensor heat and that too mainly in the shadows areas. I was using my Lee Big Stopper. There were so many in the shadow areas that it would take hours just to remove it in PS.
This is a still frame from a video I made and put on YouTube.
The truck is an International / Petersen Industries Grapple (or boom or clam) truck and is used for bulk pick ups. This driver did an excellent job of removing a huge pile of yard waste. As you can see her experience shows! Inexperienced drivers tend to dig up the lawn. This lawn is still perfectly intact.

This would make a really nice wall mural, especially for this couple. It was shot at Airport Mesa in Sedona, March this year. This spot was also one of the Vortexes that are supposedly there.
This is our 2CV in restoration. Finally I reached the point, that I could fit the restored body onto the rebuilt chassis.
