This bird seemed to have something in its bill and I couldn't figure it out until I saw it in my camera and saw that the bill was defective. Must be handling okay since it looks healthy to me.
This is the view you get of the Champ de Mars looking toward the tour Montparnasse, it’s funny to see such a big field in the middle of Paris; What a city!
Hello! This is just an outtake from the shoot I did a couple of days ago that I kind of liked and figured I would upload real quick.
Also, I know I said I would reply to everyone on Friday, but I've been super busy this weekend. I've done nothing but work and attend a super special awesome nerd convention in my home city, so I apologize that no one got a reply. This is an absurd serie of wondering in the cemetery at All Saints day. A kind of disharmony was the purpose here!

This is a shot taken Jan. 3, 2025. These hawks will often hunt by hovering in place, flapping their wings if there is not enough wind. Red-tailed hawks will also do this.
In a stiff breeze they are able to just face into the wind and stay in place, known as kiting. I saw one of these hawks doing this today Jan 17, in a very stiff breeze, 20-30 mph. Some very cold weather is due to move in overnight.
This shot is of a soapbubble. We could have the impression it's a planet or exo-planet. Science can observe those planets at a very far distance, several lighyears away. They could contain life or could have contained life. The distance with their sun should be perfect, so that water is available in its 3 fases: liquid, gas and ice. The image title is also the name of a real exo-planet.
This stave church was built around the year 1180, and is one of the best preserved stave churches in Norway.
This lovely centenarian will be celebrating her 102nd Birthday and still works in and manages the 155 Year Old Fremont Store in Minnesota
This was taken on an early spring trip to Frenchman Coulee in central Washington. It seems like years ago, honestly.

A little ship moc i have had waiting for a photo opportunity for a while..... The seed part was the Train front, so i started from the back and Went forward......
It was fun to use those fronts, and incorporate them into a little ship. The overall shape pleased me, and made for a satisfactory build.
I did not have a plan for the ships use when i created it, but the colors made me think of protein, therefor it of course carries that!! ;-))

I created this triptych from photos I took at the Barbara Hepworth 'Art and Life' at the Towner, Eastbourne.
A combination of 'Brass and String' and 'Project Spring Morning' 1957.
The title 'Orpheus' references the mythical Greek musician and poet who taught the god Apollo to play the lyre. Orpheus was also the inspiration for a collection of Rilke's poetry, 'Sonnets to Orpheus' of which Barbara Hepwoth owned two copies. The poetry may have formed a direct inspiration for these works, as 'Sonnet I' opens 'A tree ascending. O pure transcension/O Orphic song'. Hepworth drew a connection between the material form of the 'Orpheus' works and a sense of ascension, 'I found the most intense pleasure in this new adventure in material - and revelled in the lightness of the poise and delicacy of forms which seemed nearer to the flight of birds and their form in flight rather than to more gravity-bound rocks and humans'.

Il Gruppo del Cristallo include pure nei suoi confini storici, naturali ed amministrativi il comune di Auronzo di Cadore. Fu conquistato per la prima volta dall'alpinista viennese Paul Grohmann, accompagnato dalle guide alpine ampezzane Santo Siorpaes e Angelo Dimai.
È uno dei monti più alti, più maestosi e più famosi di tutte le Dolomiti ampezzane e del Cadore. Esso chiude la Valle d'Ampezzo a nord (assieme all'antistante monte Pomagagnon), dividendola dalle valli circostanti.
This little cutie was all alone in the middle of the lake. Hopefully, he was reunited with his family eventually!

This was a super rare chance to see the original deco-esque paintings that Crowley created with artist Harris reflected his own dark weird take on the deck based around his self created magick religion Thoth. The kind of work you would never expect to see in Venice which is what made it so inspiring.
This beautiful Canvasback was part of the feeding frenzy that goes on at Lake Merritt!

Abandoned train tunnel in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It is said that late at night a "Ghost Train" still rumbles through this portal.
This is a small area of woodland on Walthamstow Marshes. Trees are mostly willow with some elder and hawthorn. This part of the wood is relatively dry and doesn't flood in the winter.
This photo was taken during a drive around Flakstadøya on the main E10 route early one morning, around 6am. Very mountainous, it's one of the more southerly islands in the archipelago.
I'd heard that - on a visit to Lofoten in the winter months - twilight would often be the best time of day for photography. And it was true - the prolonged twilight hours around dawn and dusk every day were a major part of the appeal of these islands with the colours perhaps being more pronounced due to shorter winter days. The colours ranged from deep blue to soft pink, fiery orange, even purple, which - combined with the snow-covered landscape - made it unusually photogenic.
This is a picture of the Radio Tower (Funkturm) here in Berlin during festival of light 2014. I decided to create a composition based on a) a long exposure shot of the Radio Tower, b) a shot of a star scape over Berlin processed with StarStax and c) a picture of the super moon I shot some time ago. The post processing and blending of all the three shots was done with Photoshop, the pictures where taken with my Canon EOS 40D.

This wallaby is a native of Australia, but some, that escaped, now roam the hills in South Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand.
This very talk structure has been set up in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah. It turns out to be part of the stage for U2's former concert tour and is now sitting outside the Living Planet Aquarium. The attention-getting monstrosity will now be incorporated into a new expansion and exhibit for the aquarium.

This is Lake Kneedwood. I drive here every morning to get to my office. The lake looked amazing with dense morning fog so I stopped and took pictures around.
This pic was taken at low tide to show what remains of the beach. This has pretty much all been washed away at this end of Beesands after last years storms!
This is more of a holiday record shot, being the view from our balcony at the Many Glacier Hotel on the northern edge of Montana's excellent Glacier National Park. The days we had here we somewhat shrouded by mist and rain, so the camera didn't come with me on all the hikes.

This is the first time I've seen one, and the best shot I could get as sunset was getting relatively close. Most of the time the swamp hen remained hidden in the vegetation.
eBird designates this species as a rarity in this area of Florida.
