Eleven - Stranger Things @luminara_cosplay

moleskine journal. part of a series i am working on... my favorite things.

This is my very first quilt! I made it for the school's auction to benefit financial aid students (and hence, my own kids). Each child in Biscuit's Nursery class chose one of his/her favorite things, I made a freezer paper stencil of it, and the child painted it on a square of muslin.

The auction theme is "safari" so I added some zebra print.

Yayayay!

I'd like to thank Pammie and Carrie for inspiring first-time quilts, and Carolyn for being my quilting Yoda.

The floor is now littered with broken things. It's sad to see it deteriorate and how badly people are vandalising it. Although it's interesting to see inside the buildings now and understand the history of the site better, people can do it without smashing everything up and leaving it worse than when they arrived.

I haven't done a doll thingy in forever so woo.

1. Favorite Disney Princess: Belle because of her love of books (I used to walk around school reading like her), her strength and who she is as a character. Though the collector side of me loves Ariel because who doesn't relate to Ariel's need to collect things that her father says is weird.

2. Favorite Disney Movie which includes a Princess: Beauty and the Beast

3. Which Disney Princess, not included in the official Princess cannon, should be added?: I dunno, like actual princesses like Giselle, Nancy, Kida, Ellowyn...

4. Favorite Disney Princess song: While I love Let It Go, I must say Part of Your World struck a chord with me as a child.

5. Which princess are you most like and why?: I would relate to Belle the most because I do want an adventure out there somewhere but I love my books a lot and I do admire Belle's ability to reject Gaston and seeing the inner beauty of others.

But I'm probably Ariel in that I would risk my life grabbing a bag full of useless junk from the line of a shark's gaping jaws, throw my life away for a guy with a nice pair of legs and assist in murdering a 50 foot woman zapping lasers at me.

6. Which princess dress is your favorite?: Belle's village dress because hey, it's a huge throwback to Dorothy's outfit in the Wizard of Oz.

7. If you could have any of the princess side-kicks in real life, which one would you want?: Maximus from Tangled cuz who doesn't need a sentient, dog like horse to wield swords?

8. What ethnicity or country would you like to see the next Disney princess from?: An actual Asian Princess please Disney. I'm still very annoyed that they added Mulan to the lineup because they needed an Asian character and that her addition to the line itself really goes against everything that her movie stood for. So yeah, a South-East Asian princess like Kaguya please.

9. Would you go see a Gay/Lesbian Disney Prince/Princess movie?: Disney has the reins on all of my nostalgia so heck yeah.

10. Favorite Princess Sequel?:

Cinderella III: A Twist In Time because wow, character development, a loving mocking of the original film, a great approximation of the film's art style and generally a great take on the original film and its setting.

11. Which Princess do you think had the best home life/childhood?: This was pretty hard since all of them had really tough situations happen to them either with abusive homes, negligent parents or society at whole keeping them back. But I gotta say Aurora had the best childhood since she was lovingly raised by her three 'aunts' who all ensured her safety and she then had a royal life to return to, with a hot guy who was her true love.

12. Which Princess would you most want to look like?: I just want to have Ariel's soft locks. If I lived my whole life with my hair drenched in saltwater I hope it's not as dead looking and dried out.

13. Most attractive Prince?: Prince Phillip is mah man, but Flynn Rider hoo boy makes me question that.

A tribute to girly things

For FGR...Thirteen things about me.

1. When no one is home while I'm getting ready (shower, get dressed, makeup)...I dance like a fool...Just can't stop myself.

2. I hate my eyecolor...Seriously, who wants grey eyes?

3. I'm a February birthday baby! I love that month.

4. When I was 14, a brown recluse spider bit me on the face. Not only was it bad because of the bite, but turns out I'm severely allergic to those suckers. I was in the hospital for a week and spent 3 days in the ICU...It was terrible. As if I didn't already hate spiders.

5. I will NOT leave the house without makeup. Not too long ago I lost my eyeliner and refused to go wherever it was we were going. Finally I found a spare somewhere. I was practically in tears. The chances of my face ever being on here without makeup are the only ones my face will not appear in.

6.I am the worst morning person EVER. My sister's used to flip a coin to see which one got to wake me up...Yeah, I'm that bad.

7. I'm terrified of needles and blood. I'm one of those people they have to lie down before getting blood drawn and they have to give me a cold wash cloth and a puke bucket just in case...ewwwwww.

8. I love writing poetry...omg I love it. I haven't wrote anything in over a year...I really don't know why.

9.My hands and feet are constantly cold. My husband calls them my ice mittens (hands) and my snow boots (feet)

10. When I was pregnant, we got behind a chicken truck that was headed to the chicken killing place. I looked at this one particular chicken and we made eye contact... It broke my heart and I begged my husband to follow the truck so we could save it. lol Turns out it was the prego hormones...I'm really not crazy!

11. I love rice...I could eat it all day every day!

12. I really hate feet and hate people touching my feet. Never will I get a pedicure...

13. I have never had a speeding ticket (knock on wood) but I have been pulled over MANY times...It always just ended with the "Audrey, just please slow down" talk.

11. My favoritt is asian food, and strong but then not to strong.

12. My computer is ranked by an Norwegian magazin as the "Coolest" Pc in Norway today.. Well well.. www.itavisen.no/pimpmypc/2690/

13. I like to bicycle but my oldest one is faster than me :-D

14. I love flying, going to sleep and wake up different places..

15. I'm dreaming of going to a Flick'r meeting with all you guy's, to sit down and drink some tea, for me, would be so out of this world!!!

16. I love to talk with other people, cant stand to sit alone all day, make me crazy, ehhhhh more crazy hihi

Because I like doing things like this:

1) I'm not a stereotypical teenager, and hate it when people assume I am. There's a running joke among my friends that I'm an OAP, and it's a little bit true. I'd rather visit cultural attractions than go out and get drunk every weekend. This probably makes me a little boring, but I don't really care.

2) I've known my best friend 17 years and counting. We were born 4 days apart, and have been friends ever since. I love her ridiculous amounts, and can't imagine my life without her.

3) Achievment means a lot to me. This isn't always a good thing.

4) I'm a crazy fan girl, and I get obsessed over people and films. A prime example of this is Grey's Anatomy, Gok Wan and the tv show Lewis. Two weeks ago my friend and I spent an entire day in Oxford in the pouring rain "Lewis tv crew stalking". We saw nothing. :)

5) I drink a lot of tea.

6) Despite being 17 years old, my room is still full of teddies. They all have feelings, and there's no way I can get rid of them, so they'll stay, probably until I get my own house.

7) I have no man. I'm worried I'll never find a man. One of my greatest fears is never finding anyone and growing old alone. I'm very worried I'll actually turn into the next Bridget Jones.

8) Art is my passion in life, and I adore painting and drawing. When I'm older I'd love to be a proffesional artist. The chances of that actually happening are slim, so teaching is my backup.

9) I've never dted my hair. I'm naturally this blonde, and don't want to change it.

10) I've never been on a plane. My parents said they'd take me to Disneyland when my brother was older. He's now 13...

11) I really want to go to America. I had a dream I went there the other night. I think it's fate...

12) I laugh all the time, and my mascara always smudges. I really should invest in waterproof stuff...

13) I don't like the big fat hairy spiders, I get paranoid they're in all the dark corners of my room.

14) I have a routine, especially at work, and get ridiculously stressed when things change my routine. I don't like change.

15) I'm left handed, and proud.

16) I discovered Blythe when I was 13. I now own 4 neo blythe, a petite, 2 moofs, a momoko and a pullip. I don't spend enough time on them though.

17) I moan a lot. I don't mean to, but there always seems to be a lot of things to talk negatively about!

18) I own a ridiculous amount of DVDs. They're all balanced very carefully on top of my sterio. I really need somewhere to put them.

19) I've kept a diary everyday since January 2007. It often seems effort at the time, but I like to look back in moments of nostalgia and remember what I did.

20) I used Twitter all the time. I tweet too much, and stalk Gok Wan through it. He's replied to me 24 times and Re-tweeted me twice. :)

21) I've worked in an old people's home since I was 15. I wash up and make coffee. I like talking to the old people, but the 7:30 start of a Saturday is always a bit of shock!

22) I own a Red Nissan Micra. Her name is Ally. She's got a broken exhaust at the moment and sounds like a beefy man car. I'm still learning to drive at the moment, but hopefully by next year I'll be able to drive. Driving still scares me a little bit.

23) I love Bristol. I've been to a lot of doll meets there, and met some of the most fabulous people ever. I also love Oxford, it's one of the prettiest towns in England.

24) I've recently started looking into my family history, and have discovered lots of exciting stuff on my Mum's side. Ancestry.co.uk is the most amazing website ever. I managed to get 5 generations back, but cannot go any further until I'm able to get up to Yorkshire as the censuses don't go back far enough. It's so exciting!

25) I'm a very dedicated person. I don't like to give up on situations or people easily.

I tag everyone, cos I love reading these thing!

A celebration of the simple beauty of being human, this funny and deeply touching exploration of resilience is based on Cheryl Strayed’s (Wild) journey as the beloved anonymous advice columnist for “Dear Sugar.” Over the years, thousands of people turned to Sugar for words of wisdom, compassion and hope. At first unsure of herself, Sugar found a way to weave her own life experiences together with the deep yearning and heartrending questions from her readers. Brilliantly adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, the Academy Award-nominated writer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
