As tagged by memmu, I'm playing too. In no particular order, 16 random things about me:
1. My middle name, Marie, is also my sister's middle name (Theresa Marie), my mother's first name (Marie Ann), and my grandmother's first name (Marie Jessica).
2. Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I never seem to have as much time to celebrate it as I would like. A lot of years it's been because of school and work taking up too much of my time, but I'm hoping after I graduate, that I'll be able to take full advantage of the season and do all the baking, decorating and crafting that I want.
3. I am an absolute tea fiend, and really a day seldom goes by when I don't have a cup or two. My favorite is Earl Grey, with plenty of milk and sugar. My electric hot water kettle is worth its weight in gold to me, let's just say. :)
4. I'm 5'4", and while I wish I was taller, I've accepted the fact that I'll be petite forever.
5. I once moved nearly 3000 miles to be with the man I loved. Before I moved from Virginia to California, the_dean and I had spent maybe a month's time total in each other's physical presence. The rest of our relationship had been lived through emails, phone calls, and care packages. It's been nearly 3 years, and it was the best decision I made in my life.
6. My all-time favorite color is blue. I've never met a shade that I didn't like.
7. I much much prefer a chilly grey rainy day over a bright sunny warm one. I lovelovelove the rain, especially in the fall, and especially when I can curl up somewhere warm with a cup of tea and a good book and watch the rain out the window.
8. My favorite number is 8. :)
9. I'm a bit of a claustrophobe, and I don't like being in small enclosed spaces. I can deal with being in vehicles, like cars and planes, as long as I can be near a window and I know where the exits are. Being somewhere where there are no windows makes me very uncomfortable.
10. I have a good-sized tattoo on my right arm (about 8-9" by 5-6" - it's tricky to measure) of a magpie and oak leaves that symbolizes myself and the_dean (Oak is his nickname), as well as my love of fall, water, air, and color. It's my first, and I already have my second one in planning.
11. I have *never* been a morning person. Getting up "early" on the weekends means waking up at the earliest 9:30.
12. I believe clothes should be flattering and comfortable. I adore jeans and wear them any chance I get. I like to dress up, but I much prefer to be comfortable and casual.
13. I grew up in a largish family (two parents, two brothers, one sister) and we are all noisy, loud, talk a lot, and each one of us is pretty unique, but we love each other, all get along, and our family has strong relationships. My parents have been married for nearly 38 years, and have the strongest most loving relationship I've ever seen, and I've never seen them fight. (My mom's parents were married for nearly 60 years before my grandfather passed away, and same thing, very loving and close). This is why I never really understood the concept of divorce when I was younger, and it was only when I was a young adult that I started to get it.
14. I absolutely adore the snow and can not wait until I can move out of California so I can live somewhere it snows in the winter. A lot. Lots of rain and green is also highly desired.
15. I have always loved languages, and I've known from a young age that I wanted to teach. I'm finally pursuing that dream, and it just feels so right.
16. One last random thing: I was born in a country that technically no longer exists. Who can guess it? :)

Things Remembered at the Promenade Temecula mall is officially closed, I wasn't able to go to the last day it was opened yesterday Saturday January 7th so I walked by and indeed the store is now closed...

But the young guy who is shooted on the TV by a despicable cop, I would not forget him … He is in my memory there and I shall have a bad taste there only …
He died. A pebble against a cop, a squall and then he goes away far from cameras the agony. Prevent that the squall is not visible in the screen. Just the sound of the machine gun. Just the chromium of the weapon, just the hatred dulled of the soldier.

#Reverb10, Prompt #11: 11 Things. What are 11 things your life doesn’t need in 2011? How will you go about eliminating them? How will getting rid of these 11 things change your life?
There are all sorts of intangibles I'd love to get rid of, but probably can't. Procrastination tops that list, but I've had that monkey on my back as long as I can remember. We're very symbiotic at this point.
I'll have more luck, and I do like to set achievable goals, focusing on the tangible. I plan to make 2011 the year of the decluttering and decrapification. Neither the hubs nor I were exactly neat and tidy on our own, so combining our households has led to us having about 4 times the amount of stuff we need. Between the two of us we can always think of some reason why anything might come in handy, but really?
1. Clothes I will never wear again
2. Shoes (oh, the 4" heels) I will never wear again
3. Paper - academic journal articles from undergrad? hasta la vista
4. Knick knacks with no meaning. Where do they come from?
5. The push reel mower - we've both attempted to occupy the moral high ground of the push mower, and both of us have given up
6. Stuff I might someday fix so it works
7. Materials for crafts I might someday start
8. The second printer
9. The second vacuum cleaner
10. The very cute, very small, very sticky-drawered dresser - too small for my clothes
11. Candles (love to buy them, NEVER burn them)
I'm going to shake these things out of my life like shaking off water, feel so much lighter after.

Our Daily Challenge topic ' 11 Things'
Wiki helped me all through setting up a still life with 11 X7 things, which are all growing here right now. She is hard at work posing though I have not added the eggs yet. We worked more than 3 hours on this still life - by far the longest, most demanding of any ! Just about everything was unwilling to be still for very long. And Wiki was so excited about this one (I wonder why?) that she kept getting up and walking through, or sitting in it. Even the yellow flowers were wilting ! Many thanks to Margaret R. who helped ini later stages of this - even going out and gathering eggs !
Many other things are growing here too - most of the others - green & leafy.

Original caption: This image from Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) shows NGC 1448, a spiral galaxy located about 50 million light-years from Earth in the little-known constellation of Horologium (The Pendulum Clock). We tend to think of spiral galaxies as massive and roughly circular celestial bodies, so this glittering oval does not immediately appear to fit the visual bill. What’s going on? Imagine a spiral galaxy as a circular frisbee spinning gently in space. When we see it face on, our observations reveal a spectacular amount of detail and structure — a great example from Hubble is the telescope’s view of Messier 51, otherwise known as the Whirlpool Galaxy. However, the NGC 1448 frisbee is very nearly edge-on with respect to Earth, giving it an appearance that is more oval than circular. The spiral arms, which curve out from NGC 1448’s dense core, can just about be seen. Although spiral galaxies might appear static with their picturesque shapes frozen in space, this is very far from the truth. The stars in these dramatic spiral configurations are constantly moving and spinning around the galaxy’s core, with those on the inside whirling around faster than those sitting further out. This makes the formation and continued existence of a spiral galaxy’s arms something of a cosmic puzzle, because the arms wrapped around the spinning core should become wound tighter and tighter as time goes on — but this is not what we see. This is known as the winding problem.
