A Thin Place was regarded as a marginal realm, beyond everyday human experience and perception, where mortals could pass into the Otherworld more easily or make contact with those in the Otherworld more willingly.
‘Thin Place’ curated by Ciara Healy, presents the work of five artists living on the west coast of Wales & Ireland. The exhibition aims to show how art, literature, science and theology are interconnected, especially when addressing questions concerning the meaning of our existence.
Operation Thin Mintâ„ (OTM) takes place at the USS Midway Museum on Friday, April 14, 2023 in San Diego, CA. OTM is a local Girl Scout service project that originated in San Diego in 2002. This year with support from the community, Girl Scouts hit an impressive milestone of reaching a cumulative 4 million packages of America's favorite cookies and countless notes of support to deployed troops. To honor the Operation Thin Mint Program, our troops, and Elite Cookie Entrepreneurs celebrate with an evening on the flight deck, featuring music, interactive booths, and a patriotic pep rally.
This morning - early - the Moon was visible through a veneer of thin clouds. At one stage, it created a colourful halo effect in the clouds. This image is as close as I could get to the effect it created.

William "Nichie" Preslar #270
End Of Watch 5/14/07

You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

the line of flashing red and blue lights in his funeral procession went on as far as you could see in both directions - and this was only the response from local departments. traffic was blocked off for more than 15 minutes as the procession of police, firefighters and emt's took their journey to lay their brother in blue to rest.
as simple bystanders, family members of fellow officers, we stood with our hands over our hearts; we shed tears for a man we didn't really know. officers from all over new jersey, as well as several other states, came to pay their respects to the first officer to die in the line of duty in this department in over 60 years. the officers, both young and seasoned, seemed numb, emotional beyond their own belief. they lost one of their own. the respect with which an officer is laid to rest brings tears to our eyes.
there's a certain bond in this brotherhood. there is strong support in times of need... in ways unimaginable to those who aren't involved. families are encircled with support and love. comforting each other in order to comfort ourselves. people are always ready to criticize the authorities at the drop of a hat, but how many of us can ever honestly say that every single day at work we put our lives on the line for strangers. every single day. without thanks or recognition.
Officer Preslar will live on forever in the memories of his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue.

Half-sheet thin crust test - This was a test pizza using deep dish dough (recipe at realdeepdish.com) , rolled out on a half-sheet pan and baked in the pan as a make-shift Chicago thin-crust pizza. Sauce was Glen Muir puree with additional spices added. Italian sausage was added raw (as you do in Chicago) in nickel size chunks and half of the pizza also had Margherita pepperoni. Cheese used was half shredded low moisture part skim mozzarella and half shredded Supremo Queso Chihuahua.
