"self portrait" so basically, ive been really drained and uninspired. i feel pretty bad most of the time, but lets not bore you with the details. i know nothing i do is eye-catching or creative and this may be a perfect example of that but im FINALLY off of lovenox. if you were wondering, im not abused. my medication just happens to be a shot that leaves crazy bruises and finally, after six long months, i'm free. this has been the first week, literally since june, that i haven't been stuck with a needle of some kind and let me tell you, it feels fantastic. i thought it was great when i learned how to do it to myself, but this is better.
Come to find out there's a reason the St. Louis Arch is so famous -- and here all along I just figured it had a good publicist.
No: it's more than that. It's freakin' cool. Proto-Gehryesque, soaring stainless and pitch perfect into the sky.
Many thanks to my buddy B1-67er who suggested (in true b1- style -- which is to say, more direction than suggestion) that I NOT miss it while I was town.
And so I didn't.

WARNING! Skating Prohibited! Danger of ice breaking! :)
A very thin ice, indeed. =)) Spring's finally here, a good three weeks later than normal. The other week we've had our last snowstorm, and now it's "T-shirt time". What a madness.

A few images to show the real difference our last event made. Many of the self-seeded ash saplings in this area and on the opposite side of the path to the Echo were threatening to choke the woodland.
KWAGs work had seen the woodland floor opened up to the sunlight and will make the area more easily managed in the future. It will hopefully encourage the growth of woodland flowers this spring and we are exploring how new native trees can be planted to increase the diversity and ecology of the area.
This week, on Sat 17th March we hope to continue this work towards the Echo pavilion so do come along and lend a hand. We don’t have permission to take out anything too large so don’t be put off in thinking that we will be felling huge trees! The work is relatively easy.
If you are planning on coming along please make sure you dress for the weather, bring something warm, and some stout shoes or boots and gloves. Bring a packed lunch, or eat at the house. Please bring along any tools you might have such as bow saws, loppers, sheers or hand saws.
We meet at 10am in Shirehampton Road car park and will walk up to the Echo from there. If you can’t make the whole day just pop along whenever you can manage. Every little helps.
We hope to see you there!
This is the teal roving I dyed spun thick and thin. Some spots are REALLY thick, which I like. I tried not to over spin it, but might have under spun it? It seems a little weak in places. I guess every yarn I spin is a learning experience. Again I used my Ashford drop spindle. blogged
