Flickr Lounge weekly theme Natural simplicity.

Model: Stefany

No specific editing to the eyes, just the set of colour curves, which I think is pretty cool.

The 6/11/18 topic for Macro Mondays is Hand Tool, and while the small piece of this tool shown here is probably unrecognizable to most, it is a tool that I used a lot back in my woodworking days, 30 or more years ago. It is a 2¾ inch portion of a spoke shave (see the whole thing in the first comment). I could never stand a straight line and was always shaving off the edges in order to create more flowing, sculptured lines, and this spoke shave saw a lot of action. Unfortunately, after a few decades rattling around in the back of my tool drawer, it's looking pretty battered now, but in its time, it served me well.

The Creative Tabletop Photography theme is Gadgets

It is of utmost importance to decide on a theme prior to choosing your colors and even your wedding invitation cards. This makes it easier for you since you will then have a range of colors to work with. The rustic theme is catching up of late with Forever Fiancés recording a new high in orders for this theme.

We had another storm cell develop right @ sunset. Just to the west of the city and it was moving rather slow. 8-10mph to the east.

Didn't know what to expect at first but it was producing some nice strikes every few mins. As I was setting up I thought I had enough light but I didn't have the exposure set correctly. First few pics are shaky due to my inability to set it up on a tripod. I forgot it @ home. So everything was done by hand. I was a little late to the game on this storm.

This storm had some incredible positive cloud to ground & cloud to cloud lightning. Just wish I had that tripod..... Still some good captures. Severe warning on this storm didn't come until it was almost on us. She really put on a Epic show of Light & Storm!

in order to visualize that translucent crop frame, RAW image was processed in DPP, cropping lines were adjusted there, and then the whole was captured using PrtScr on not too highly resolving monitor = hence the loss of sharpness (the original is OK, with plenty to spare, even if 40d has only 10 MPx sensor) ---

Day One-Hundred and Five, "On the Go" theme, sixteenth shot. Traveling sometimes means hotel's time with my wife Claudia. I love hotel's time when we are together. Today I did my post-production with Photo Forge 2, another of the most popular photography app on iPad. I didn't do any major post here, but the app seems quite powerful anyway. Even if the flickr upload feature doesn't seem to work...

Just a very quick digital sketch. I tried to summarize everything,

showing 2 persons kissing and being part of the heart itself.

I might be working on this later on.

Thanks for your visit. Love is a big source of inspiration for me.

The Love Heart

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

The love heart is we

Both of us true

As feelings need to be

So life can renew

Easy comes from a stream

Flowing to the head

One in two it seem

Turning love to red

This is you and I

Giving of our touch

To the night dream sky

With its love so much

Nothing can be said

That isn't already here

Heart of one - two head!

So we both can share

Opposite two in one

Coming with love thru

Till our time's gone

In a rising dawn dew

Easy comes from a dream

That we together had

When love’s its true theme

Nothing needs to add

A feathery tuft or fringe of hair...

This is one of the analog 35mm shots from a 12 hour photomarathon I did a month back. There was a showing last week where all the participants came together along with almost 300 other peaople to look at the shots.

Good fun... I'm looking forward to next years marathon.

52 Weeks 2011 - Week 7 - Theme: Love

I really like being part of the 52 weeks of pix Flickr group and figured I would do something with shapes and colors for this week. I think it took me longer to glue those hearts together, than set it up and shoot. I don't think I'm being very original here, I think I've seen similar type of images before. But, in my opinion, having fun and experimenting is what it is all about.

Theme: Okanagan - forest fire

Video Edit on Facebook .

There is a massive wildfire burning in Shelter Cove, Canada. I decided it was time to take a self-portrait. I wanted to take a picture with the forest fire as the back drop. I was initially planning to make a torch. Then I decided it would not be a good idea to light a fire when the risk of starting a fire is extremely high.

Walking back to my car, I heard some people conversing. I was eavesdropping on the conversation and decided to interact with them. An older female named Sandy and a younger male with his large dog on a leash. They were talking about the forest fire across the lake. I decided to join the conversation.

I had an hour-long conversation with a stranger about the forest fires in the Okanagan while watching the world burn. She has been living by the beach in the Okanagan for the last 25 years. She told me her observations and thoughts about forest fires throughout the Okanagan. Such as, her thoughts about fire evacuations, opinions about Christ Clark, the fire budget for 2015, global warming, and response team to the fire.

I learned a lot about a stranger options for someone I will never see again. In a world of mass communications, I find these conversations between strangers to be rarer.

It's raining too much here latelly. There was no way to go to the beach to make this theme, but fortunately, I had a better idea and I'm sure it came out way better than if I had done it on the real beach.

I had another idea (since I couldn't go to the beach) bu my printer decided to prink everything in pink.... (I think it works for Burdine? :P) It was a mermaid in a rock on the sunset with wind, but... no way for me to do the wind, her hair is too heavy for fans..... I think my under the sea version came out way better than my 2nd idea.

Here, Gabriella is totally transformed into a mermaid, she is spending so time at hers secret hideout, a hideout full of sparkling jewels that were lost in so manny shipwrecks.... She is a collector, as Ariel, the Little Mermaid.

Exploring archives, i've found this shooting for the local arabic restaraunt. Not so creative or conceptual, but there was several interesting lighting ideas.

Nikon D700, Nikkor 35 f/2 D.

Lamp picture:

SB-80 DX with Cybersync and double CTO inside the lamp. SB-800 into Beauty Dish and red filter from the left, and another SB-800 into Apollo softbox 28'' from the right (you can see it). Can't remember exactly, but looks likes there was fill light at the model from the left.

Hookah picture:

Apollo softbox 28'' on background was moved to the left. I've placed two CTB bare flashes as kicker from the left and right (and above). Fill light from the front of the model.

Flashes were triggered by Wireless remote SU-800 and Cybersyncs. Its kinda tricky without radiopoppers, but still possible. Interior shots allows IR signal to bounce off the walls, and reaching flashes even behind obstacles.

This not mine and not a portrait! It's product sales.

It's so amazing to appreciate such a magnificent waterfall during night time... Although such fantastic color combination resulted from long exposure, it's gonna be my lively remembrance of Niagara Falls at night!!

Driving down the Pacific coastal road I could go wild with drawing signs, but, alas - other passengers never have the patience to wait. Today, I was lucky: a quick "Churchill (a fabulous shake) stop" at POPS ice-cream parlour in Jaco - and I had 10 minutes in the car for sketching. In the car because of 35c outside. In the view this fire red semi-industrial building, I don't know who gave permission for such a structure in a beach resort... Unsurprisingly, it's for sale.
