Star Wars and the Power of Costume explores the challenges in dressing the Star Wars universe from the Galactic Senate and royalty to the Jedi, Sith, and Droids. Featuring over 60 hand-crafted costumes from the first seven Star Wars films, the exhibition (located at the Cincinnati Museum Center in Cincinnati, Ohio) reveals the artists’ creative process – and uncovers the connection between character and costume.
Features of the Power of Costume exhibit include short films that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and include interviews with the designers and actors/actresses. The experience in enhanced by interactive flip books featuring sketches, photographs, and notes that capture the creative team’s inspiration and vision.
Featured costumes include:
•Monk-like robes of Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker
•Intimidating suit and complex breathing apparatus of Darth Vader
•Yak hair and mohair costume of Chewbacca
•Fierce armor of mercenary bounty hunters Jango Fett, Boba Fett, and Sam Wesell
•Elaborately detailed gowns of Princess Leia, Queen Amidala, Queen Jamillia, and their handmaidens
•Intricately designed costumes of astromech’s R2-D2, C-3P0, and BB-8
This photo is just one of the many costumes seen in the Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit that allowed myself and my family to get up close to these historic and awe-inspiring films in ways that we’ve never seen them before. The next time I watch one of these movies, I will have the perspective of how the costume was designed & created and what inspired the look & feel. Thank you to the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, and Lucasfilm, Ltd. for developing this exhibit to give Star Wars fans such as myself this opportunity.
During the Rise of the Galactic Empire, Jedi Master Stark finds refuge on the planet Ord Mantell. Hiding and waiting for his chance to strike at a threat that not even the empire has knowledge of. Once a great Jedi General in the Clone Wars, now he seeks odd jobs wherever he can find them. In grief after his failed attempt to return his apprentice Carth back toward the light, he wanders space in search of answers. Echoes of his past ripple throughout the galaxy. During the Clone Wars he volunteered to take part in a secret experiment: The Kaminoans used his DNA as a template for three special clone commanders. Froze, Hawk, and Blaze, little did he know that his force sensitiveness would pass down to his sons as well. The old Jedi has been know to have a connection with a faint whisper in the force, which has saved him on many occasion.
Jedi Master Stark is a major character in my comic Darkness Born. Which is almost ready to be released. This is a sneak peek to the future of the Lost Saga. Post Darkness Born.

A hero of the Republic, the Destroyer of the Deathstar, Luke Skywalker now seeks to rebuild the Jedi. A vergence in the Force has lead him to Jakku. Somewhere on this planet, is a child that has a great Force presence.
Scheming, powerful, and evil to the core, Darth Sidious restored the Sith and destroyed the Jedi Order. Living a double life, Sidious was in fact Palpatine, a Naboo Senator and phantom menace. He slowly manipulated the political system of the Galactic Republic until he was named Supreme Chancellor -- and eventually Emperor -- ruling the galaxy through fear and tyranny.
This display is of the robes worn by Palpatine as he progressed through time from Senator to Supreme Chancellor to Emperor. Notice the change in the robes from flowing, light and open to closed, dark and foreboding. This 'look' predicted the coming changes and eventually the revealing of Palpatine as Darth Sidious, the new leader of the Sith.

The group meets Maz Kanata at her castle on Takodana, and are noticed by First Order and Resistance spies. Maz Kanata refuses to help Han, insisting that he must take BB-8 to the Resistance himself and see Leia again. Finn believes that fighting the First Order is futile, and makes to leave for the Outer Rim, despite Rey's pleadings.
Rey hears a girl screaming and moves below to a chamber where she finds a chest containing a lightsaber. She touches it and immediately experiences several visions - few make sense to her, except seeing herself being abandoned as a child on Jakku. Maz appears and explains to Rey that she has the power to harness the Force and that the lightsaber once belonged to Darth Vader and then Luke Skywalker. Rey is frightened by her visions and refuses to keep the weapon. She flees the castle with BB-8.
