- The Force is a metaphysical and ubiquitous power in the Star Wars fictional universe.
In the story, the Jedi utilize the "light side" of the Force, while the Sith exploit what is known as the "dark side".
The Force has been compared to aspects of several world religions, and the iconic phrase "May the Force be with you" has become part of the popular culture vernacular.
- De Kracht (Engels: The Force), is een geheimzinnige kracht die gebruikt wordt door Jedi en Sith in de Star Warsverhalen.
A couple of weeks ago, someone (not sure who it was who did it first) managed to uncover this clip of Carl Sagan talking about how Star Wars was too white way back in the 70s and I thought it was remarkable. Sagan delivers his message with a very calm intelligence that was way ahead of its time in America (and how sad that is!)
I was a child of the 80s but I didn't really start questioning why the majority of the films (and t.v. shows with only a couple of notable exceptions) back then featured primarily white actors even though that isn't what my community looked like. Back then, if you had one main character that was not white, like Ernie Hudson in Ghostbusters, this was considered pretty much mind blowing progressive. I'm not sure why this didn't strike me as strange at the time but what it was suggesting on a very deep level is that the experiences of white people are the only ones that matter and are worth showing, exploring, and devoting energy and money to. If you can't find yourself in a story, then you won't feel that story was meant for you. If you can't find yourself in any stories...then it must seem a lot like a whole force or system set against you.
I think we've made some progress with this though we still have a great ways to go. One of the things that has probably helped is having a lot of great international films come through because you can't really watch a film like Parasite and then think that most of American box office hits can even compare. But, I think it's also really important to have conversations about what still needs to change in American cinema so that all voices are represented and heard-so that people of color are represented as directors, writers, actors, actresses, cinematographers, editors, and more.
There are a growing number of people (look at Texas and Nashville) who are so afraid of discussing racism and are so wiling to be a force of white supremacy that they have banned talking about it in schools. (They seem so terrified that white children will feel bad that they'd rather continue the racism that exists for all of the other kids). They won't even have the conversation. There are also quite a few people who have convinced themselves that considering this topic (truly considering it) is still too radical for them and gets in the way of them actually enjoying all of the levels of racism they've grown to feel comfortable with as it has been steadily normalized for them. They just want to enjoy their popcorn and their sleazy cinema-is that too much to ask?
But, when we don't ask these questions about not only what we're watching (or reading or buying) then we aren't really paying attention to what we are consuming in any way and what we are actually supporting. So, let's continue to ask those questions. They might not be easy but I'd like to think humanity is worth it.
We might not all be connected to the film industry but we can make choices that support cinema that represents all stories.
Here's that clip:

Yoda is one of the most powerful of all the Jedi, and was the highest-ranking Jedi to escape Order 66 during the Clone Wars. By training Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force, Yoda helps bring the Jedi back to the galaxy.
Lit with a Nanlite PavoTube and a Ulanzi LED.
At last, they gathered. At the base of the Great Pyramid of the Sith. The most powerful clan, hidden for centuries. Once they open the Pyramid and gain access to the source of forgotten knowledge, the entire Jedi Order will not be able to stop them!
I dreamed about this picture since I heard first rumors about the release of Dark Rey! :) I was going to show all my Sith girls, which means, all those who were released by Lego. I really, really waited for "The Acolyte" set, but it seems it either got cancelled or never was ordered (the only SW film/series, which didn't get a set).
And of course, I created an original character (adding my alter-ego among those really cool canon characters would be too much even for me). It's Evilor. No, I didn't create the name, it's an easter egg for those who might know the joke. :) If you know, you know, and yes, it's her. xD
Here also you can see Asajj Ventress from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", Naare from "LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures", Third Sister Reva Sevander from "Obi-Wan Kenobi", Shin Hati from "Ahsoka", Morgan Elsbeth (her blade was of different shape and color, but there must be unity in the picture) also from "Ahsoka" and Darth Rey from "Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker" and "LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy".
Say what you want about Disney and Kathleen Kennedy, but I LOVE the new canon, because it made my dream come true - I always wanted to see a female Sith on screen (and I didn't like "The Clone Wars" series much - too many clones, I'm not interested in those folks). The more the better. Now I'm very happy! :)
The Pyramid is actually a Sith holocron, which is a collector's case for "Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side" (2012). It had lights and sounds activated by a button, but I forgot to remove old batteries, and found out on the day of shooting that my last AA batteries are also expired. So I can't tell, is it broken now, or just needs new batteries, but I used my usual trick to light it up inside anyway. And yes, no more digital lightsabers! ;)
Yes...I know...everyone who visits Grand Teton National Park goes to Mormon Row and shoots these historic barns and buildings. Here's my version...standard, nothing new, but who can argue with such a great backdrop, sky and cottonwood trees changing color?
We came here after we shot sunrise at Oxbow Bend...I'm sure sunrise here was pretty spectacular too. Oh well, you can't be in two places at once!
A pamphlet we picked up says "Mormon Row Historic District...a once vibrant community." This used be the town of Grovont. The settlers were dispersed as the land was acquired to expand Grand Teton National Park.
A cinematic frame titled as 'Evidence of the Force', featuring Darth Vader and two Red Guards.
A scene taken before the summer. I've been pretty much playing with it since then, trying to find the good mix between the colors and balance. It was a simple set-up with lots of fog all over the room... a fun day it was!

One order like these always leads to another, LOL. This time I deleted Leia in with intentions of adding a Storm Trooper...who was forgotton =( And Added a young Anakin Skywalker. The first platter was for a kid fond of the original movies, and this one I didn't know. This time around I was more confident and able to make the designs more my own. These are still very mych Master Rosey's design, however, I am venturing out a little!

This stormtrooper has failed Darth Vader for the last time, so the Sith villain very viciously and violently chokes the violator using the Force.
