When I saw this flock of birds lift off around me, I couldn't help but think of the movie, Alfred Hitchcock "The Birds". I also wonder, how is it that birds don't collide with one another in flight?
Sad to think that all the real birds use in that movie were destroyed upon completion of the movie. The studio's were afraid the train birds would attack the local population.

This end of daylight savings combined with the shorter days is really messing me up... dark when I get to work, almost dark by the time I get out.. throw in heavy clouds and it hardly leaves any light to work with..
Luckily, I was able to get out just when the sun peeked out of the clouds for about 5-10 minutes and was able to catch these gulls hovering around in the parking lot. And, I survived the aerial bombardment too by keeping a safe distance from them.
It looks better in lightbox mode.
Although this Macaque seemed to be making his opinion of photographers known, I didn't take it personally. He apparently had a broken finger.
Pull a camera out, and this is what you get in NY. Gotta love shit like this. This was the first shot of the day.

Maybe the red sky at night is a gull delight over Lake Erie. Photo of the Lorain Lighthouse taken in Lorain, OH.
The Salton Sea is a strange place. Created by a dike break in ag lands along the Colorado River about 107 years ago, the Salton Sea partially fills a basin that was historically a body of water, filling and evaporating repeatedly, leaving much salinity behind. Today the Salton Sea is basically a repository for agricultural waste water and all the chemicals/salts/sh*t /garbage that it carries (some of it from Mexico). Despite the regular influx of ag waste water, the Salton Sea is shrinking, due to evaporation in the extreme heat of summer. The sea, actually California's largest "lake", is currently about 30% saltier than the ocean. As the salt increases, the fish die-off, and birds that utilize the area (Pacific Flyway, major migratory route),
This tree is one of several remaining in a previously flooded area of the Salton Sea. I'm not sure who nests/nested in this tree--Osprey, Cormorants/Egrets are possibilities, but three of the four nests are clearly too small for Golden Eagle. Doubt the nests are being used now that the water is gone and the tree is dead, providing no cover. Osprey possible. Will see as spring approaches!

Isla the ‘Rook With A Book’ holds in one claw a book titled ‘The Birds’ she stands overlooking the Fowey harbour with Du Maurier’s home of Ferryside behind her just across the water at Bodninic.

im thinking an interesting tag practice might be to tag something "listeningto" and the the following tag be whatever you were listening to while shooting, editting, or uploading to - or perhaps annoying tunes stuck in your head all day long.
iPhone shot taken while sitting in traffic on my way home from work. When the sky looks like this, I sometimes just pull off to the side and watch the birds dance.

Can I get a what what?!
... I can't believe that I was looking for a 'reflection' photo yesterday for a group challenge I am in... and I drove to the park to just photograph some rain drops because it had been raining... thinking maybe I will find a puddle or something for the reflection...
...then this bird flies up to my side mirror and keeps trying to look at itself! It would fly away... and then come back again and again... landing on top of the mirror and then trying to somehow gain footing in front of it...lol... Vain little thing hehe...
...wasn't even deterred by the mad woman in the car trying to get a clear photo of him lol...
Thanks to Liz Jenkinson for the title! lol

This sweet robin made her nest on our front porch light. It's just outside our window and I've been watching her feed her babies for a few days now. It's so sweet, it hurts.

Getting 'the bird' from guitarist, Bow Campbell at Front End Loader's gig at The Republic Bar 27th April, 2018.
I was taking a walk along the beach this morning, and happened to stumble upon this flock of seagulls. Glad to have had at least my iPhone camera... it was simply beautiful.
