Seeing the movie once is enough for me!
GROUP: LOOKING CLOSE...ON FRIDAY
THEME: BIRDS
SUBJECT: CROWS UNDER THE MOONLIGHT
‘The Birds’. The Camera never lies - but the photographer does!! Went out the back door this afternoon to take my 366 shot & the sun went behind a cloud - an hour later the cloud still kept coming! On the way back home I saw an old brick barn wall had some interesting wear & tear so moved into a gateway for a better view, just then behind me an unholy row emerged from the field as a hundred or so Rooks I disturbed took flight! 'CLICK'. So to add to the drama a bit of colour was added to the otherwise grey sky. I'm sure Hitchcock would have done the same:-)
366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)

*[it seemed like five minutes of migrating gulls. The captain was moving us along slowly to catch it all in. A bird-line miles-long of seagulls! Almost as if the captain knew they'd be coming along at
this very moment! Could they see this bird-line from space!?! LOL]
*[I usually don't post 'blown-out' sun shots as I find they are

I walked out to the top level of a parking garage and saw hundreds of birds. I was kind of creeped out. it was like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. These are grackles.

Everyone in modern art is watching Michaël Borremans. According to the New York Times, he is currently the best figurative painter in the world. And figuration is hot again. Voorlinden introduces him to the Netherlands with a museum retrospective of the past twenty years. Subtly, he makes us reflect on ourselves. But what does he imply by the exhibition title: ‘A Confrontation at the Zoo’?
I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
Tried to tell you
But you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
Must have been relieved to see
The softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

I couldn't resist. This bird was huge! i don't think I've been this close to one before. And it just sat there as I approached and maneuvered around him. I wanted to get the bird, the bridge, and the city in the frame. I like how his head is slightly higher than the ridge line of the city behind him, and also how it looks like he's got a tiny spotlight shining on him from above. There’s a bit of noise; it’s likely from my darkening the background to bring out more of the detail in the sky, while lightening the bird because he was just a completely black silhouette in the original. Maybe I’ll give it another pass to see if I can fix that. I wanted it to look like “Technicolor” from the 1960s and 70s!
I really enjoyed this one. Maybe this could be on the poster for sequel to "The Birds: You're Next, San Francisco!"
We are back from a fabulous weekend in Bodega Bay, celebrating our 10th anniversary. We didn't have much in the way of sunsets, I think Friday and Saturday were the two most color-less sunsets I have ever witnessed. We did see a lot of wildlife, so I'll probably be posting a lot of those shots. And we did see one waterfall too.
This is St. Teresa of Avila church in Bodega and the schoolhouse, made famous in Alfred Hitchcock's classic movie, "The Birds". I wanted something a bit different here, and try shooting this church at night. I think it turned out okay. The exposure was 53 secs, f/4.

I caught these guys taking off as I was heading over to the flowers to shoot some dahlia's. I'm definitely not a wildlife or bird photographer but I had to chuckle at this rhythmic trio and the full flaps down (airplane speak) mode of the higher gull. I'm not sure how I got anything in focus at f4.... lol Thank you for your warm and kind visits my friends! :)

Lots of starlings around here at the moment, leading to some spectacular sights. They were all around the church tonight.

Taken and processed with my iphone. Every time I pass the intersection of Bird Road and US1 on my way home I see hundreds of birds like this. I stop and take pictures whenever I can. I wish I could also post their chirping sounds because it's just like in the movie The Birds - one of my faves.
Last few pictures I've posted have been really vibrant in color. I felt like bringing down the color factor a bit.

St. Teresa's Church (1859) in the small hamlet of Bodega, Ca. with the Potter Schoolhouse (1873) behind it...Alfred Hitchcock zeroed in on the area in 1963 to film his classic, "The Birds"...
~This is one of the most picturesque churches I have ever seen. It sits on top of a hill overlooking the small and quaint town of Bodega. Bodega is where Alfred Hitchcock's novel The Birds was filmed in 1963. Ansel Adams photographed this church ten years prior.
Here is Mr. Adams' version Church and Road, Bodega, CA.
