Working on this old JPEG, I tried to exaggerate the texture on the wood in PPE (Dynamic Contrast, a little Sharpening, some Sunshine).

For some reason this image gives me a feeling of joy.

Subject: Ice cubes from mini muffin pan inverted on plate, blue water placed in bottom of plate and then frozen - clear ice cubes in blue ice cube pool. (Jan theme is "ice".)

Lighting: LP160 at 1/16th, 105mm, 1/8th grid almost opposite camera.

What I learned: I wanted to highlight geometry and texture (and so just wanted to use one harsh light), but trying to create a harsh shadow on ice over exposes the ice easily. I think I would have been able to expose better if I had let the frosted exterior part of the ice melt off.

The Second Severn Crossing is the M4 motorway bridge over the River Severn between England and Wales, inaugurated on 5 June 1996 by HRH The Prince of Wales to augment the traffic capacity of the original Severn Bridge built in 1966.
