Cincinnati police officers patrol the around around the courthouse as peaceful protests carry on outside the Hamilton County Courthouse in downtown Cincinnati on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. Protesters gathered on the courthouse steps while the jury deliberated inside Thursday.

This photo might be a bit more dire than the reality of my day, but things were tense and even a tad awkward at times, and I wasn't sure how best to capture that. I think this is close.

Jackson (Survival Math: Notes on an All-American Family), José Olivarez (Citizen Illegal), and Sarah Smarsh (Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth) shared and discussed their deeply personal works of nonfiction and poetry, each representing an eye-opening look into larger social and political issues in America. Moderated by Carlos Lozada, nonfiction book critic for The Washington Post at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville on 3/23/19.

I've been pretty tense lately. I'm feeling the "end-of-year crunch" with a ton of projects (primarialy the 8-page philosophy paper due-- what is now tomorrow. It should come out alright, but it's gonna be rough.

Not a keeper but something I liked anyone. A gray day in Miami, a walk, the marina. Lots of tension in this otherwise gray and peaceful scene- -with the boats and horizon closer to the top-- the tense sort of dance between the heron and it's reflection, which your eye finally finds, and the obvious point of focus of the boats and the horizon, the flow of negative space. Not sure why- but something I sort of like about this- and then don't. So won't be my 52 weeks for not dogs submission but thought I'd post it anyway. I really liked the heron, but did not have a good enough zoom factor in my camera to capture it, so this had to do. All critical comments very welcome.
