"The Tempest:" Multiple lightning strikes illuminate the Granite Dells at Watson Lake, taken just as the rain began to fall on top of me and therefore right before I headed for cover. If you look closely, you can see the multiple little circular ripple effects the raindrops created as they landed in the water below. To me, this storm was both wild and calming at the same time. Feel free to message me for print inquiries or visit the Ian Russell Gallery of Fine Art in downtown Prescott to see my work in person!
"Tempest Over Cathedral:" Just moments after a rainbow adorned the sky, the sun set, and the sky rapidly darkened, casting an ominous glow upon the clouds. The heavens broke open, lightning crowning Cathedral Rock in wild brilliance of the storm. The promise had barely passed when the tempest arrived, a reminder that beauty and chaos often share the same sky.
A shot from this morning when we explored a couple of the blacksand beaches that seem to be common here...and of course it was raining on us...but at least the wind wasn't howling like it did all day yesterday.
And now I am off...see ya all later

This is my first post for 2014, so I want to wish you all a great new year, filled with happy moments! This time of year, we all get to make goals and new beginnings. In that spirit, I made a facebook page for my photography on New Year’s day. Feel free to visit!
This picture was taken on Christmas day, in Mesologi which is my lovely hometown. I wandered about and discovered a place where I had never been before and now I am in love with it. I wrote all about it on my blog, take a look if you want. I hope to visit again soon, so I can take many more pictures there.

This image was taken during a recent visit to Porthleven and depicts the harbour being battered by the incoming waves.
It has been just over two years since I was last down in Cornwall and just over that when I first attempted to walk from Rinsey to Portleven which ended with me not completing the walk. This time I was successful, even with the strong winds and some slippery paths.
Once I arrived at Porthleven I began scouting the location. I didn't need go far as the South West coastal path from Rinsey leads to the popular viewpoint that many talented photographers have captured.
The original plan was for similar images of waves crashing against the famous building of the town council. As the high tide was at 3.27pm and it takes over an hour to walk back to Rinsey I had to shelf that idea for another time.
I became increasingly aware of the waves battering the harbour and after coming to terms that my original plan wasn't going to happen I decided to capture the harbour instead.
As the conditions were both cloudy and windy I wanted to capture a moody seascape. Due to the strong winds some images were hit and misses but regardless of the conditions I managed to get creative and have some fun at the same time.
I left Porthleven sometime just after 3.30pm and didn't get back to RInsey until not long after 5pm. But felt that it was a rewarding walk.
A distant thunderstorm on the Mogollon Rim. As seen from Mt. Ord. This is a composite of three separate images.
This was taken on a windy, stormy night on Sand Key Beach in Clearwater, FL. There's something beautiful about a storm. The clouds take on a life of their own and the water becomes so contrasting. Love it!

Soon realised, this monster was heading straight towards us…and it was still gathering strength and speed…(!!!!!!)

1577AD, 15th November, English channel, between Plymouth and Falmouth. Francis Drake (later to become Sir) set sail from Plymouth having given out his pretended voyage for Alexandra.
The journey is cut short due to falling contrary winds. The tempest is so vehement that few on the five ship fleet have ever seen or experienced a storm like this before. It is so bad that the mast of the Pelican (pictures) had to be cut overboard and another ship is driven ashore.
The ships put into Falmouth Haven for shelter before going back to Plymouth for repairs.
The journey is to be continued........
