A teepee is my home. Of deer skins it is made. A place on top where smoke can go, It stands in forest shade. The river runs nearby and there is my canoe. I paddle up and down the stream, beneath a sky of blue.

**If you want to experience life in a teepee - this one is for rent. It is located at the southern end of Dezadeash Lake in the Yukon.
This is a view up through the inside of an old teepee burner at Fort Missoula. It reminded me of stained glass. This is a one second exposure handheld!
After seven months on the road, shooting more than 20,000 photos, it's time to catch up on computer work, now that I'm back in warm, sunny Mesa where it was about 70 degrees today. Over the next couple of months, I am going to be going back through everything I shot on this year's roadtrip and posting shots of all the different places I visited.
This was from the first month of the trip while I was still in Arizona. It's South Coyote Buttes which has some of the most amazing sandstone formations I've ever seen.
Taken in the small town of Terlingua, which is located just outside the western entrance to Big Bend National Park, Texas.

Unique land formations known as Teepee Buttes just off Hanover Road in El Paso County, Colorado. These are ancient methane springs and vents from ancient seabeds...
This iconic structure used to all over these lands. This one is situated on the Sandy Ann Cross conservation area, located just South of Calgary, Alberta.

Ok so I live in Santa Fe Texas, our High School team is the Indians and a number of buildings in our small town have a southwestern feel to them but.....Teepee's? I passed these the other night on the next street over from where I live and thought hmmm....
In reality they are indeed teepee's but not the kind indian's live in, these are protecting plants from frost, they are probably 5' tall. I thought about doing Christmas lights but found myself facinated by trying to photograph these so there you have them:)

Fourty one years ago I lived in this teepee in Mendocino County. Only a few original poles exist and several new skins later it still exists in the original location. Typically it is setup for the spring and summer. The canvas skin was recently replaced after a bear tore holes in the prior handmade version. The lantern was on momentarily to gather the gear to prepare for a snow storm happened the following morning.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - I chased this severe thunderstorm on the Crow Indian Reservation. These tepees at the trading post in Crow Agency made for a nice foreground.
