This is rather a fun installation on Alfriston Tye - a teepee made from runner beans. It looks like the beans were free to pick too...

No one's looking down on you or I

That's just a mirror in your eye...

Everyone we encountered along the Mother Road was kind and full of stories to tell...when I asked the woman at the Teepee Curio Shop how many establishments still light their neon signs after dark, she started rattling off a list of those who do...

Somewhere between 10 and 20% of my town's population is made up of off reserve aboriginals. There are numerous organizations that they operate here in town. These teepees are rented out to European (French, Swiss, Belgian, primarily but the odd English, German, or Italian tour comes through too) tourists looking for authentic First Nations experiences while travelling in our area of unspoiled wilderness. I grabbed a snap of this on the way home from the office today.

odc- be a tourist in your own town

A teepee is my home. Of deer skins it is made. A place on top where smoke can go, It stands in forest shade. The river runs nearby and there is my canoe. I paddle up and down the stream, beneath a sky of blue.

**If you want to experience life in a teepee - this one is for rent. It is located at the southern end of Dezadeash Lake in the Yukon.

One of the more unique places we stayed along the way. Also home to the bicycle eating goat.

This is a view up through the inside of an old teepee burner at Fort Missoula. It reminded me of stained glass. This is a one second exposure handheld!

After seven months on the road, shooting more than 20,000 photos, it's time to catch up on computer work, now that I'm back in warm, sunny Mesa where it was about 70 degrees today. Over the next couple of months, I am going to be going back through everything I shot on this year's roadtrip and posting shots of all the different places I visited.

This was from the first month of the trip while I was still in Arizona. It's South Coyote Buttes which has some of the most amazing sandstone formations I've ever seen.

Bill Moose was recognized as the last full-blooded Wyandot Indian in this region. Bill Moose spent much of his childhood in the mid-1800's in the Dublin area, just northwest of Columbus.

For approximately nine years starting in 1878, Bill Moose traveled in the US and Australia with the Sells Brothers Circus as an Indian rider in their Wild West Show.

Bill Moose returned to central Ohio and entertained tourists, posed for photos, sold trinkets and shared stories with visiting children.

Bill Moose died in 1937. His final resting place and memorial is at ‘Wyandot Hill'. The granite teepee monument was dedicated on October 17, 1937. The 39 boulders comprising the over nine-foot tall structure were from the Scioto River.

It fits in his room but only just! I didn't realise how big the tent was. I scattered some cushions in there and laid down a blanket for comfort. We spent most of our weekend hiding away in there. Lots of fun.

Ok so I live in Santa Fe Texas, our High School team is the Indians and a number of buildings in our small town have a southwestern feel to them but.....Teepee's? I passed these the other night on the next street over from where I live and thought hmmm....

In reality they are indeed teepee's but not the kind indian's live in, these are protecting plants from frost, they are probably 5' tall. I thought about doing Christmas lights but found myself facinated by trying to photograph these so there you have them:)
