A river was the lowest I remember it being and the muddy surface on both side was not very slippery so I found a place to cross and did some exploring and found this pair of Hoodoo Teepees. I have not seen any other photos of these formations. Has anybody else ever seen them or photos of them?
Miniature reed and algae-mat structures created by a flood.
Flooding raised the water levels, raising floating algae mats above the plants. When the water eventually receded, it left the mats draped over the stalks and the weight of the wet mats bent them. Eventually, the algae mats dried and shrank, pulling the stalks still closer together, resulting in the "teepees".
I really like the striated grain in this Teepee. It almost looks like somebody else liked it and took a piece home with them from the right side, but I am sure it is a natural pattern.
Reaching for the Sky and waiting for the warm spring winds again. This photo was taken west of Calgary last month .
Teepee Liquor Store is no longer open, just old cars in the parking lot. Picture taken in Paducah Kentucky.
Eakins Oval, Philadelphia
While his brother Fuzzy prefers to stick to the canopy, Teepee has started chasing after squirrels and is generally the more active of the two fledglings.

I am not sure what they are using these for. A few weeks back, up went the frames, then a week later they added the skin. I may have to take a drive around to the other side and find out.
A slightly out of focus and textured beach tepee. Semingly found on all the beaches I have been wandering along. This one is found on Sumner Beach. Sumner Beach was where my Grandma lived for her last years and we spent a few holidays climbing Cave Rock and watching the ships go by.
Obviously building beach driftwood tepees is an enjoyable pastime! HMMM
My girlfriend and I attended a week-long beekeeping camp in the VERY rural, small town of Nehawka NE, run by a Lakota Sioux man. who would provide teepees for the stay if you would like. When we learned that the camp would be free if you also worked a week before hand on the farm, we agreed.
Our first chore was to assist in erecting this teepee, our home for the two weeks, along with several others. During those two weeks, our home unflinchingly withstood temps of 37 - 98 degrees fahrenheit and winds one night up to 70 mph.
Waking up to pee very early one chilly morning, this beautiful sunrise greeted me, so I somewhat reluctantly crawled back into the teepee for the camera for a couple shots. Glad that I did :)

From my 2015 road trip from Colorado to California. I've probably posted some of these previously, but trying to clean out and delete my old photo files
I've had this idea for a while. And though theory is not the same as reality, I think the fixes for the design are doable! :)
For my granddaughter's 9th birthday, I made a doll's teepee for her new Native American doll . . . but look who made the first appearance!

New Brighton. New Zealand.
New Brighton Beach is a popular spot for most recreational activities, especially during summer. There is a camping ground in the area, and the beach has excellent facilities, so numbers tend to swell in and around the beach area in the summer months. The safest conditions are in surf under 1 metre, however users should be aware of the conditions as change can happen quickly at this beach due to the exposed nature of the coastline. The Christchurch Pier is located towards the southern end of the beach. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer weekends, and during the week in the school holiday period

I have read some horrible reviews of this place. I did stop and paid $2 to go into the gift shop. I figured if I bought something they would take it off the amount. I didn't buy anything. The owners weren't very welcoming, verging on rudeness. After reading other reviews, I got off lucky

The fledgling red-tailed hawk enjoys chasing squirrels in the playground across the park from his nest.
A very attractive lighting of the tents on the lawn of the Museum of History, complementing the Christmas lights all around.

This gas station is along what I think might be the original Route 66?
Tende indiane in un parco vicino all'Atlantico.
A tourist trap in Tucumcari, NM. I was definitely "trapped" as I bought several things there. The building was constructed in the 1940's and has been selling to tourists on Route 66 ever since.
Parked on the far side of the building was a truck with a skeletal figure posed on the bed.
Happy Truck Thursday!
Taken from the Highway - Last leg of our Canada trip as we arrive in Calgary this evening. This Teepee was built for the 88 Olympics in Calgary and moved to Medicine Hat after the Olympics see link
