A large amount of antique Hemingray 21 “teepee” insulators can still be found in use on the Raton and Glorieta Subdivisons. Here’s a view from atop a codeline pole at Colmor, New Mexico as another day on the old Santa Fe comes to a close.
I painted today- a Native American village- and it was such a cool thing to see the reflections in my glass table as I set up to photograph it! So part of this shot is my painting, part is the reflection in glass!

One of the teepees left behind at a former roadside attraction along route 66 in Arizona.

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. (Opened in 1967).
Locally called the "Catholic Cathedral" as distinct from the Anglican "Liverpool Cathedral " at the other end of the street. Nicknames for the building include "Paddy's Wigwam" and "The Mersey Funnel."

During the Membertou 400 Festival in Halifax, from June 24-28, 2010, the Halifax Commons was made brighter at night by the illumination of a number of teepees.
Eroded mudstone rock of the Chinle Formation, reminiscent of teepees. Petrified Forest National Park, AZ.

These wonderfully decorated monuments are outside the permit area for Coyote Buttes North and can be accessed freely, but require long hikes from either direction. The famous Wave is less than a mile to the WNW. Only a few of Wave hikers take the extra walk to this location.
I visited the North Teepees from the east, which required a hike of a minimum 2.2 miles one way. That route shaves a mile off the route from Wire Pass but requires a long, sandy drive on a remote sandy road NW of White Pocket.
This is not a typical sight in Central florida, but when the Native American festivals are going on, teepees come to town. Reed Canal Park was host to this one, which was one of the best I've attentded. The cultures are fascinating, even if the music does get on my nerves a little bit, but the wonderful merchandise for sale makes up for that! I usually can't go these days, since they hold the festivals over weekends usually, and I work. If you haven't seen one, be sure to go! You can learn a lot about a different culture, and way of life, and have some fun in the process.

I'm so happy to be able to participate in the upcoming centennial celebration of the historic iconic Moulton barns of Jackson Hole's days of yesteryear, one that's forever established as part of Wyoming's old west. What will the celebration include you ask ? Well, for one, the Moulton family will be gathering in Grand Teton National Park. There will be an art show where many will have their photographs taken over the years displayed and auctioned in an effort to raise additional funds to help restore these priceless, historic barns.

In about five weeks I'll be in the Tetons for 10 great days of shooting great Teton mountain wildflower scenes.
For those joining my June 28-30 and July 5-7 Teton spring photo shoot adventures, I will be taking you to this overlook for sunrise photos.
Time to chill out to Ambray's song ... Kiss The Messenger.

365: The 2018 Edition
This recently appeared in a field near the road we take home from the gym. I really like the lovely painting on the left wall. Someone built a fire inside this and I see smoke coming out of the top. I hear it can get very warm inside!
A favorite place to have a cup of coffee and watch morning arrive.
Pyramidal Painted Teepee Peak (7650') stands between the broad shoulders of Never Laughs Mountain and Mt. Sinopah. Pray Lake reflects their glory.
There is so much to explore in Coyote Buttes. This shot was taken in the South Teepees. It's a long hike to get out here, so not many people venture out this way.

Paw Hole Tee Pees. Brown, textured cones of twisted sandstone. As awesome as they are, they are hard to shoot. It is difficult to find visual paths and position yourself in a way that makes for a meaningful composition. After probably more than 100 visits, and giving up a hope that there is a shot there, with the help of the clouds, the composition finally presented itself. I could use the golden spiral more often.
Nikon Z7, 14-30 mm at 14 mm, 1/160, f8, ISO 200, focus stack of 8.
The North and South Teepees are large, colorful domes east of Coyote Buttes. They rise up out of the plain in clusters about 250 x 350 yards in size.
Being outside the permit area, the Teepees can be explored freely, but it takes almost 4 miles each way from Wire Pass to reach them. I hiked from Steamboat Rock, which was about 2 miles directly west, but that road is very bad even for 4WD. Take your pick!
On my hike I walked about 9.5 miles total, seeing various points of interest between Steamboat Rock and the Teepees that are even lesser known.
Sky replacement was applied to this photo to add some clouds photographed the previous day.
