The Great Ball Contraption Tower or “Akiyuki Tower” is an homage to the famous LEGO® great ball contraption master builder Akiyuki Kawaguchi. The tower uses six Akiyuki modules but instead of joining these in the customary horizontal sequence, the modules in the GBC Tower are stacked vertically on top of each other – resulting in a 14,500-brick LEGO® MOC that towers more than six feet in height! This is a photograph from the start of the first running of the St. Colman's National School 5KM Road Race and Fun Run/Walk which was held at Mullingar Shamrocks GAA Club, Delvin Road, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday 14th June 2015 at 13:30. The GAA club facilitated a safe start and finish area for the race while the National School was the venue for registration and the refreshments after the race. The race was run in very warm sunny conditions with a temperature of around 20C making it very warm for road racing. Over 400 runners, joggers, walkers and children took part in the event which by any measure makes this first attempt at road race organisation a fantastic success. The refreshments and prize giving was held on the lawns of the national school with participants and their families able to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather.

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Prague National Technical Library - Projektil Architekti
In 2000 Projektil Architekti won the competition for the National Technical Library on the Czech Technical University's Dejvicka campus. The library opened in 2009 and features six floors above grade and three floors below. The latter houses parking, storage and other non-daylight functions, and the former's mass sits behind a pleasing double-wall glass façade, softened by the doughnut-shaped building's rounded corners. Approaching the stand-alone building from the surrounding campus, the library veils its content behind the finely proportioned glazing. A prominent horizontal band and matching vertical marks break up an otherwise homogenous façade. Access from any of the four sides is via recessed portals that give way to a central atrium. It is this space that is the heart of the project, a colourful space not anticipated by the exterior's formal treatment or lack of colour. Floor area: 51.434 m2 ; Costs € 40.000.000,-

The original plan was to do the machine work on the lathe. But the machine we had access to was pretty much used up and we were concerned about acheiving the accuracy we needed on it. I'm convinced our approach was technically adequate (Photo 20RearAxle01). But without the right equipment we needed to try something else.
So I called the guys at The Hot Rod Works and they suggested using a vertical mill.
In machine work the "set up" is the first key to success. In the case of this project we needed a fixture clamped to the mill table that holds the work piece (axle housing) in a vertical position.
We made the fixture out of a length of 2" x 8" mild steel channel.
The first step was to bore a hole that matched the outside diameter brake plate locating rings on the axle housings.
