SAAB SK60/ 105 Jet trainer.
The Saab 105 is a Swedish high-wing, twinjet trainer aircraft developed in the early sixties as a private venture by Saab AB. The Swedish Air Force, which had opted to procure the type for various roles, issued the aircraft with the designation Sk 60. The Sk 60 entered service in 1967, replacing the ageing De Havilland Vampire fleet.
The Swedish Air Force bought a total of 150 aircraft and another 40 were exported to Austria, designated Saab 105Ö. The Saab 105 is also the aircraft used by Swedish Air Force display team, Team 60, and was formerly used by two display teams of the Austrian Air Force, "Karo As" and "Silver Birds".

Each year, during summertime, an airshow event takes place in Denmark. Every second year the Royal Danish Airforce is the host, and the other second year it is hosted by the private association Roskilde Airshow. During these airshows I have seen many different aerobatic teams performing their spectacular maneuvers, The Red Arrows, Il Frecce Tricolore, and Thunderbirds just to mention a few but I have never had the chance to see the Swedish Team 60 in their old but very cool looking and great performing Saab 105 jet trainers. I have always wanted to build this little wide-body aircraft, and to my knowledge only very few else has, so here it is.
About this model:
This model hasn`t been very easy to design. The main-wing geometri was the most challenging because of the arrow-shape combined with the anhedral. I also wanted the clean leading edge using curved slopes. After quite a lot of tinkering with wedge plates and hinges I finally succeeded in attaching the wings positioned at the right angles. The connection to the fuselage isn`t very sturdy so swooshing it around is out of the question, but it holds nicely together when handling i.e. for a photo session.
The Swedish aerobatic Team 60 have had various color-schemes through the years. The one I settled for is in fact a non existing. It`s more a mix of old and new, or let me say the designers right to choose whatever he likes best :-) . Originally the planes were in a dark green/ dark brown camo with a grey underside. On most photos the dark brown appears almost black, hence I choose dark green/ black. I like the blue tail-rudder and underside on the later color-scheme, but I don`t like the ”FLYGVAPNET” text on top of main wing, so I decided to use the old scheme with the red high visible markers on the main and tail-wings and a blue underside and tail rudder. So here we go with my own version of the Swedish Team 60 in Lego, I hope you like it!
