Volunteers in Chile La Serena Teaching Program March to June 2014 - Julia Gillbert, Kimberlee Turner : A stated goal of the Chilean Ministry of Education is that Chile must become a fully bilingual country. English is taught in all Chilean schools from the first to the twelfth grades. Volunteer to teach English in Chile and you will work closely with Chilean teachers. Volunteer teaching placements in Chile are based in La Serena's kindergarten, primary and secondary level.
When you teach English in Chile you will focus your time on pronunciation, verbal exercises, correct grammar and spelling. You will work with the local teacher and create a syllabus. TEFL certificate is not required, however volunteers need to be proficient in Spanish. This program can also be combined with the Language and Cultural Immersion program.

After some explanation in Thai we didn't understand, the kids started singing the notes (e.g. do - rey - me, etc) to Auld Lang Syne. Then the kids all went to an instrument to practice playing the notes.
On the first session with the undergraduate students equipment is handed out. The MSc students help with this and explain how this equipment works.
Volunteer Matthew Sly in Honduras La Ceiba Teaching Program August 30th, 2015.
"I would like to do teaching in La Ceiba. I have done this before and really enjoyed it. I like to draw and this helps the kids enjoy the class a bit more. I have been to Honduras before and found the people to be very friendly. I enjoy looking around at certain places like the beaches and mayan ruins also. but mostly it is the teaching that I enjoy as it is a challenge to get what I know across(english) and the kids help me with my Spanish".
