This is the last book I completed during my 3-month workshop. I've had some unbound copies of this book around and wanted to make a nice version so I could finally READ it.
The words are cut out of black Moriki and laminated onto red Lamali. The doublures are the same Japanese bookcloth as the box.

"Volunteering for a project in India is one of the most valuable experiences you will ever gain. I was teaching in a school that is under resourced and underprivileged in comparison to schools in UK but once you get into it and look past that you will see children who are just adorable! Their eagerness to learn is overwhelming, the children can literally not wait to see the books or resources I had brought and looked over these repeatedly. Yes the project was challenging, both mentally and physically, but anything worth doing never comes easily! The people here are amazing and I can almost guarantee that although your project has come to an end you yourself will not be ready to leave”

Teaching artist Lisa Wilke worked with 4th graders from Gause Elementary to design and create fused glass pieces. Students learned the history and varieties of glass art, the science behind fused glass, and explored color and patterns in their own creations.
Thanks to Donna for this one. The kids put a time on the clock...then it's pistols at dawn, three paces! They turn and the first person to yell out the correct time wins!

Its a very cultural thing, but it seems that chinese in particular are very strict in teaching their children. A young mother teaches her daughter something from the book on the street. :)
This picture is a picture of the Crawford Falls pool and poolhouse. This picture is representative of my life at Clemson, because when the weather is actually warm out I spend almost all my time out here. I either sit by the pool and read a book, or all the people I know that live in my apartment complex come out and we socialize. This pool is my favorite part about living in Crawford Falls.

This woman was wonderful. She spent a lot of time talking to my girls about life during the war. Here she's showing the girls her ration booklet. She also had a luger in her purse because she was a spy!

Reese and Jamie have been teaching Dosa -the Koslarevic Family Ghoul living in the attic- a few signs so he could communicate with the family. He was limited in how much he could learn but he was eager. Jamie promised to help him and today he learned the word "teach" from Reese.

I love the way that Pop-Pop (my husband's dad) spends time showing my son how things work, even if it is as small as rolling the wheel inside his little car :)
