Jake is in the middle of teaching Emmie all he knows about photography.

This one is my ALL TIME favorite picture that my girlfriends and I have taken in college. We decided to all dress in white tops and go around the campus to take pictures at pretty spots. We took some with the library behind us, some on the statue in front of Tillman Hall, and this one was one Bowman Field. We got tons of them made and we are making a calendar so that we will always have the memories. This one is so candid. We all have this picture framed in our rooms☺. This picture is important to me because my friends are one of the most important things to me. If I’m having a bad day, I go sit on their bed, or call them. If I have good news, I run to them. This picture makes me smile just looking at it.

I've been teaching this 3-month bookbinding workshop, and the books, they are amassing. This is just a wee sampling of what we have accomplished in class these past months. I HAVE NO ROOM FOR THESE THINGS.

Class ends this coming Friday and I need to bring everything home.

Volunteer Uganda 2014 Teaching and Orphanage program

Volunteer in one of two local orphanages in the Wakiso district, located outside of the city of Kampala. The village orphanage and school not only provide a home and safe haven this is where the children have classes.

Most of these children have lost parents to HIV/Aids. Some have been abandoned, and they know abuse, hunger and fear. The orphanage strives to provide a better future for some of the most vulnerable children in Uganda. As a volunteer, you will primarily assist with the daily care of the kids; getting them ready for school, brushing teeth, reading to them. After-school activates you can play games, arrange activities, create arts & crafts projects and share your time and caring with these wonderful children.

Prior experience not necessary, volunteers should have a lot of patience, an open mind and a sense of compassion. The children range in age from 3yrs-13yrs old.
