"Governor Tarkin (PETER CUSHING), Princess Leia (CARRIE FISHER) with Darth Vader. Tarkin has decided to totally destroy the planet Alderaan. Princess Leia pleads with him in vain. Alderaan's fate is determined."

Promotional text from the 1977 and 1978 Sticker Album and Press Kits (with promotional images, remake with Lego bricks).

------------------------

From now on, I will make images that appear in my 1977 sticker album LA GUERRA DE LAS GALAXIAS (Spanish edition).

------------------------

At the end of 1977, the Spanish publishing house Pacosa Dos Internacional acquired the rights to distribute in Spain the first sticker album related to the movie Star Wars, a film produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century Fox a few months earlier. .

This album consisted of a total of 181 in full color and could be purchased at newsstands and grocery stores at a price of 15 pesetas. Most of these stickers were printed with a frame from the film itself, although we could also find a few in which the main actors appeared posing in the typical photographic set.

Next to each of the stickers we found the number assigned to the sticker within the collection and a small description of what the scene or character in question shows.

I hope you like them. Antonio Hidalgo

Here's a little guy I had created for a side project I'm working on. There's only few of these made for me and the people involved in the project, so they are not for sale...at least not right now ;)

Just thought it turned out pretty dang well and wanted to share.

Thanks to Bob and Chris at fig-factory.com for helping me get this made, I think their digital printing is excellent! Give them a shout if you need a project done and are looking for a good digital printer.

What do you all think of this guy?

Another set I love! Darth Vader, his TIE, and the Tarkin figure are my favorites. The A-Wing is likely the most accurate version we've gotten and Sabine and the Pilot are good too. The price will be $89.99 which is an okay price. Your thoughts?

Boston Terrier (blue/dilute brindle)

I saw Rogue One last Thursday at 7:00 PM (Opening Night about a week ago) with my buddy Nathan and I absolutely LOVED it! My friend and I sadly made a few mistakes while we were at the theater, such as waiting until after watching Rogue One for the free poster, to find they were all out by the time we got out of the movie (I was actually so disappointed to the point where I ordered the poster from Ebay, haha), both of us each buying the huge popcorn and pop (which was much more than we could indulge), and not saving our seats...Yup, we were stuck at the VERY FRONT, but it was still fun. In the end it was a good time and I still enjoyed the experience. The reason this review is so late? One reason is I was really busy due to school, but I officially got off for Christmas Break yesterday, so that's not an issue anymore! The other reason was me wanting to wait a week so that as many people were able to see it as possible before reading my review. Alright, anyway...Let's just jump right into this! (SORRY THIS IS SO LONG)

(Review Starts)

This movie was amazing. I honestly enjoyed Rogue One so much more than The Force Awakens. I was geeking out so hard throughout the movie, but I can't tell if that was just because I had a friend with me or not. Now if you go back and read my Force Awakens Review, you'll see that I praised it and said it was the best movie ever made. That was a year ago and my opinions have since changed on the movie. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it isn't as high up for me anymore, I was honestly just fanboying that there was a new Star Wars movie. Rogue One felt new, fresh, and exciting, which is hilarious to say because The Force Awakens was in a time we had never seen before, and Rogue One takes place right before A New Hope. Rogue One is currently my second favorite Star Wars movie, right behind Revenge of The Sith (yes, you read that right). I'll have to make an official Star Wars Movies ranked picture, ranking all the Star Wars movies, but for now let me tell you why I loved Rogue One so much...

The Story

I feel like this Star Wars story was definitely a story that needed to be told. After watching this movie, it gives a whole new light to the beginning of A New Hope. Most people say this movie started out slow, and in a way it kinda did, but I didn't notice it as much as other people. I liked how they did something different and had flashbacks in a Star Wars movie to show some of Jyn's backstory. Loved seeing how ruthless the Empire is and how Krennic had Lyra killed and Galen taken away. Having all of the characters meet eachother along the way and form a team by the end to fight, is classic and works really well in this. This story is ultimately about teamwork and sacrifice. We get to see the designer of the Death Star, Galen Erso (Jyn's dad) and how he purposely put the weak spot that we see in A New Hope into the Death Star's design. This fixes the whole "How come the Death Star was destroyed so easily and how come the Empire overlooked this design flaw?" that fans have been complaining about for years. This was a very satisfying answer. The Rebellion in Rogue One is a little bit more harsh and drastic and this lets everyone see that even the "Good guys" can sometimes do questionable things and push the limits. This is great because the Rebels are TECHNICALLY terrorists, if you really think about it...

Rest In Peace, EVERYONE. Literally every single new character died by the end of the movie, but I really liked that they did that. It gave a sense of danger and made this movie have stakes and gave off so many emotions to the people watching. It showed that with a rebellion...There is a price to pay, and there is hell. This was very dark and gritty (For Star Wars), and felt like a war movie at times, which is great because it is Star WARS after all. There was some humor (Mostly on K-2SO's end), but it was there when it was needed, it wasn't forced and there wasn't a huge abundance of it, and I felt it was perfect. (I also want to note that I thought the new ships and vehicles/Imperial troop variants were fantastic and great additions to the universe and actually fit in and make sense despite not being in the Original Trilogy.) Oh, and that space battle over Scarif...Woah, that was cool. One of the best space battles in Star Wars to date! Loved that shield gate too, its something new and unique.

The Characters

The characters in this movie were great, I loved every single one, the only problem was that we didn't get as much time to fully flesh out each character as we probably should have, so I sadly didn't get AS attached to them as I would've liked to. Jyn was a good lead character. Tough, smart, and mischievous. Felicity Jones did a wonderful job, and I was so glad that cringy "I rebel" line from the trailers wasn't in the movie. The scene with her listening to the hologram message from her father was excellent and filled with emotion. Cassian is a rebel, but one who sometimes takes drastic measures and has a bad history with the empire. Him chosing not to take out Galen was a great moment. Jyn and Cassian embracing eachother before death was such a well done scene. I'm glad they didn't force a love story or have them kiss. We got a hint there could've been something, but that is all. K-2SO stole the show though, he's one of my favorite Droid characters from Star Wars, even better than BB-8. He's a smart-ass reprogrammed Imperial droid, what's not to love? His death was one of the saddest in the movie, but he went out like a boss! Chirrut and Baze made a great team, they had amazing chemistry between them and I really want to see more on their backstories. Chirrut's scene when he beat up all those stromtroopers on Jedha was so awesome, Donnie Yen is brilliant. It was a breath of fresh air not having a Jedi, but someone who believes in the force on a spiritual level..."I am one with the force, and the force is with me." Saw Gerrera wasn't in this much, and Forest Whitaker's performance was a bit weak and I wasn't a fan of the voice, but he had some good dialogue and I was overall glad he was in this. We have a conclusion to his character, and I can't wait to see him on Rebels later this season to explain what happened to him before Rogue One. Bodhi Rook was an Imperial pilot who defected, I always love to see stuff like that. I enjoyed his character too, and I'm hoping to get a book on him explaining his time in the empire and his defection. Director Krennic was actually a really decent villian and I sorta felt bad for the guy...All he wanted was recognition for his work on the Death Star. (It's ironic how he gets destroyed by the very thing he helped create.) The tension between him and Tarkin was fantastic. Oh yeah...TARKIN! I was surprised to find out that everyone was disappointed by CGI Tarkin (and Leia)...Are you serious?! When I was in the theater I was absolutely amazed...It was SPOT. ON. to Peter Cushing...They brought him back to life! Not sure if I should be astounded or scared at how good Hollywood is getting at CGI human characters...Darth Vader wasn't in the movie much, but he didn't need to be, that would just be fan service honestly. Let the new characters shine. When he was there...HE. WAS. THERE. Most people didn't like his first scene, or his "Don't choke on your aspirations, Director..." line, but I loved it! The scene was perfect and I liked the line of dialogue because I felt like even though it may have been cheesy, its something that Anakin would've said.

The Locations

I was in awe of every single location in this movie...Lah'mu (Where Jyn, Galen, and Lyra were living), the space trading post (or whatever it was called), Jedha, Eadu, Scarif, and being able to see Yavin 4 and Mustafar again! Lah'mu looked so interesting and different with the dark and cloudy skies, the rocky landscape, and the tall grass fields. Jedha has so much mystery to it with it having such a strong Jedi history. We even see old Jedi ruins and old Jedi statues. I have a feeling just by the name of the planet, that in the new canon this planet will be the birthplace of the Jedi. I'm calling it now. Scarif is absolutely gorgeous! A tropical planet is something very much welcome into the Star Wars universe. Can't wait to play the Battlefront Scarif map, its gonna be awesome! Even though Jedha and Scarif are still technically there, their surfaces are f*cked. I can't wait to see what other stories come out of those planets, maybe some Clone Wars era ones, who knows...

Callbacks/References/Cameos

This movie respects all aspects of Star Wars. There were obviously a huge amount of Original Trilogy easter eggs, references, characters, etc...but there were also a few Revenge Of The Sith, The Clone Wars, and Rebels ones as well. To name some...We get to see Mustafar again, where Darth Vader apparently has a secret fortress. I think that is pretty darn sweet and fitting if you ask me. We also see what looks to be a Clone Turbo Tank, but an imperial version. I think we also see Coruscant in one of Jyn's flashbacks (in the background out the room's window) but I'm not sure. Saw Gererra from The Clone Wars makes an appearance, which was awesome considering this was our 1st animation originated character in live-action form. It made me happy to see Mon Mothma and Bail Organa in this movie, especially since they (in legends) were the ones who basically started the Rebellion. They were also played by the same actors who played them in the prequels, which I appreciated. Bail saying he needed to go to Alderaan is something I really wanted to see in this movie, and it happened. It was depressing to think about, but it was necessary. From Rebels we see Chopper for a split second in the Yavin Base, The Ghost during the space battle over Scarif, and on the loudspeaker in the Yavin Base, "General Syndulla to the hanger" can be heard, obviously referencing Hera from Rebels. I guess she eventually gets a promotion! At least we know Hera and Chopper will still be alive and kickin by the time of A New Hope...Not sure if I can say the same for the rest of the Rebels characters. We will just have to wait and see. Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba from the cantina scene in A New Hope briefly make an appearance while our characters are on Jedha and they bump into them. I didn't mind these cameos because Evazan does have a death sentence on 12 systems, so he certainly gets around. Why not have him be on Jedha? In the visual guide for Rogue One it further elaborates how he was there experimenting on corpses that were dismembered or decapitated and turning them into working cyborgs. In legends his character was this "mad scientist" sorta guy, so this all makes sense. Then there's the two cameos I felt were absolutely forced and unnecessary...C-3PO and R2-D2. Literally only 1 second of them, which makes it even more unnecessary. I guess they had to keep their streak of being in Every single Star Wars movie...

Vader Scene/Ending

Hmm...Am I forgetting something? Oh...You didn't think I would forget about that EPIC Darth Vader scene/movie ending, did you? Ho-ly...SHIT. One of the best scenes ever in Star Wars. Darth Vader...The most well known villain ever...kicking ass and slaughtering a group of rebels. What more could you ask for? This is something me and fellow Star Wars fans have been waiting for for forever and it paid off! The sense of urgency with the rebels trying to escape with the plans and sacrificing their lives for that very reason was brilliant. Darth Vader felt terrifying in this scene. The music during it was pretty epic too! Then we get to see the Death Star plans delivered to Leia, something else I really wanted to see. Yet again, they did a fantastic CGI job with A New Hope Leia. No complaints there.

Movie Rating

I'm giving Rogue One a 9/10. This is exactly what I want from a Star Wars movie. Fantastic stuff. Well done Gareth Edwards...Your hard work and devotion really shows. What are your guys' opinions? Did you like it, did you dislike it, are you in between? Feel free to post a comment letting me know!

On another note...I can't believe Christmas 2016 is so close! I'll probably post a photo on Christmas Day, but until then...That's all for now! Take care, everyone. :)

From the mission notes of Ivan Valus

The Star destroyer I'd been rescued by turned out to be on course for Eriadu. In the immediate aftermath of the Death stars destruction, and with the Emperor presumed dead, certain protocols were put into effect.

I'd been drafted into a small group of stormtroopers, and dispatched to Eriadu city, more specifically to the Tarkin Memorial Conference Centre. A fitting setting, a building dedicated to a great man who had sadly perished along with the first Death star. But for now, the conference centre had become a temporary gathering place for a group of high ranking officers. We had our orders: Commandeer the tour shuttles and evac the officers off-world, to the waiting Star destroyers in orbit around the planet. Time was off the essence, chaos was already enveloping the planet.

As the shuttle touched down on the rear landing pad, you could feel the tension in the air. The local forces had done a good job at keeping the protestors and rebels at bay, but they wouldn't last for long. You could smell the smoke in the air, hear the chants, 'Down with the Empire', 'Death to the tyrants', the usual rebel fuelled drivel. We entered the building, quickly making our way to conference room 1, a grand structure, an auditorium that could easily sit in excess of a thousand life forms. There we found the Officers, impatiently pacing around the stage. And with them....A Deathtrooper, an extreme rarity these days. I hadn't seen a Death trooper in years, I'd almost forgotten just how tall they were, easily 7 foot. He would have been intimidating to a lesser trooper.

The Death trooper approached and introduced himself as Captain Krillin, before briefing us on the situation. His partner had picked up the shuttle and was en route as we spoke. We were to escort the officers to the side entrance and accompany them to the landing pad, where a shuttle would pick us up and take us to a waiting star destroyer.

"What are we waiting for?" I joked. The Death trooper did not laugh, just motioned for me to follow.

As we walked down the corridors to the side entrance you could cut the tension with a knife. There was chatter amongst the Officers, two men and a woman, their uniforms said Captains, but their faces said otherwise. Though we hadn't been informed of it, I suspected they'd been disguised as lesser officers, so as not to arouse suspicion from any prying eyes. We reached the door, the Death trooper going first. He gave the all clear, and we stepped out, into the light.

The street was...suspiciously quiet. Maybe the local forces were doing a better job than I'd given them credit for. This was when the incident occurred.

"Private...What was it again?" Asked the female Officer, her accent gave me a sense that she was from the outer rim.

"Valus Maam"

The Death trooper turned his head slightly as I spoke. Did he recognise me?

"Valus, hmm. Your name is....Familiar to me. Tell me Private Valus, were you at the battle of Yavin?"

"Yes Ma'am, I was-" Thankfully I was cut off as the tour shuttle arrived. Six seats, and piloted by an astromech droid. Clearly there wasn't much else on offer. The officers boarded, ad just as I was about to join them I was stopped by Captain Krillin. He informed me that new orders had come in, and he was to accompany the officers instead of me.

Reluctantly, I stepped back, sensing there was something he wasn't telling me. I suspected he had overheard me and the officers exchange, maybe he recognised me?.

It didn't matter. I stood back, and watched as the officers boarded the shuttle. I turned to head back inside, but a voice stopped me.

"Private Valus"

The female officer, did she recognise my name too? I turned to face her.

"Ma'am?"

"Your armour's a state soldier, have a little pride in your appearance"

And with that the shuttle pulled off into the road. I headed back inside to regroup with the rest of the stormtroopers.

---End of Excerpt---

For anyone wondering, the Officers accent is German. Well...German sounding

I invite you back in time to December 2019. The season 1 finale of The Mandalorian finds "Mando" embarking on a quest to find a Jedi to return "the kid" to his own people. From an in-universe perspective, nobody made more sense than Luke Skywalker - despite it only being 28 years since Order 66, the galaxy has apparently forgotten the Jedi, but if you've heard of anyone being a Jedi, you've heard of Luke. The hero of the Rebellion that destroyed a Death Star, led the defense of Hoth, killed Jabba the Hutt, and single-handedly defeated Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine together.* But from a filming perspective... I concluded that nobody made less sense than Luke. The magnificent Mark Hamill can't realistically play his 28 year old self, and after the mixed receptions of CGI Tarkin in Rogue One and recast Han in Solo, I figured Disney would be too nervous to attempt either with Luke.

So... Luke and "Baby Yoda" were only ever going to meet in my imagination, I decided. Time for a pair of MOCs!

To mirror the symmetry of Yoda training Luke and Luke training "Baby Yoda", I decided to create two small vignettes showcasing Dagobah as featured in The Empire Strikes Back, and as a die-hard Legends fan, I decided that the second would be on Yavin IV, the no-longer-canon location of Luke's Jedi Academy in Legends. For Dagobah, I wanted to capture the drab colors, tall overgrown trees with their signature roots, simple marshy ground, and dark, stagnant water. For Yavin IV - which really hasn't been featured on screen other than treetops - I could get creative, and I wanted as much contrast as possible. Brighter colors... a lumpy, chaotic tree... brighter growth along the ground... running water along a rocky shore.

Well... if you've been keeping up on the Mandoverse/Filoniverse, you know how Mando's actual Jedi quest turned out and how right or wrong my conclusions were. But thanks for taking a glimpse into the imagination of a Legends fan that won't "let the past die" no matter what Disney tells me.

Remember my Toy Story/Star Wars and Harry Potter/Star Wars fusions? Well, I have taken it to a whole new level: a mash-up of Star Wars and Super Heroes! Here we have Clark Superwalker, the farm-boy who grows up to become the greatest hero in the (DC) universe; Diana Organa, the princess of Themyscira; Bat Solo, the orphaned bad-boy smuggler who prides himself on having the fastest ride around (the FalconMobile); his co-pilot Cewieverine, a hairy fellow who will rip your arms off if you anger him; their helper R2-Freeze2, a dome-headed droid; Iron Threepio, a very smart mechanical man in golden armor; Darth Magneto, a very powerful man who can lift objects with his mind; his master Emperor Jokerpatine, a pasty-faced, evil man; Grand Moff Bane and his henchmen, who work for the emperor; Boba Lexx, a bounty hunter with green power armor who is after Superwalker and his friends; The Yoddler, a strange man with a cane who always speaks in riddles; his friend Thorbi-Wan Kenobi, a very wise and powerful man with an awesome beard; and Jarjarpool, an annoying guy who just wont shut up and wont die either.

Here a few images I have recently submitted to bricklink.com in hopes that they may use them to update some of their minifig thumbnails.

spoiler alert!

**** I GIVE THIS FILM A 10/10*****

so rogue one, I LOVED IT, favourite star wars movie TO DATE, even better than TFA. so yea, they all die, jyn, cassian even k-2SO. i almost cried when that happens, especially when jyn and cassian are together on the beach as the planet is destroyed! it is an amazing ending and it backs RIGHT onto a new hope.

EASTER EGGS:

there were A LOT of easter eggs in this film, starting from C3PO and R2 making an appearance, and they mentioned general sendula from star wars rebels over the loudspeaker in the rebel base, they even mentioned ben kenobi, YOU EVEN GET TO SEE PRINCESS LEIA AND GRAND MOFF TARKIN!!!!!! there is also those guys who pick on luke in the cantina and ben kenobi cuts of his arm!

COOL PARTS:

there were some GREAT scenes in this movie, especially when jyn and cassian were trying to get the plans over that chasm and when vader was kicking rebel ass in the Tantive IV. he was using all kinds of abilities such as saber deflection, choking, slamming against walls and all other epic stuff, and the shot at the end when he is standing there as the Tantive IV flies off, THAT was the $money shot$!!!!!

the actors were all great too, K2-SO stole the show with his humour and snide remarks, cassian and jyn were perfect together!! slowly getting to trust each other a little more, and in the end dying together. The soundtrack was amazing as usual especially this song www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sw5fyr9rYo

i loved this film so much and will be making a V2 of my jyn erso minifigure and also making Cassian andor.

"Hold on tight! We're coming down hard!" - Cassian Andor

With Tarkin having seized control of the Death Star project, Krennic departs the Death Star in his ST 149 shuttle en route for Eadu, where he plans to expose the Rebel sympathizer in Galen Erso's team. Meanwhile, the Rebel convoy, also seeking out Galen Erso on Eadu, approaches the planet in their U-Wing. The planet's stormy conditions hinder their approach, and as Bodhi guides them towards the Imperial installation, they crash whilst attempting to avoid Imperial detection. (From Wookieepedia.)

'You may fire when ready.'

"The reactor module, that's the key. That's the place I've laid my trap." - Galen Erso

The group, except for Saw Gerrera, escapes the destruction of Jedha and heads for Eadu and Galen Erso. On the Death Star, Governor Tarkin siezes command from Krennic, using the defected pilot and leak from Eadu as evidence of his incompetence. General Draven urges Cassian, via a coded transmission, to continue with his mission to kill Galen. Jyn explains her father's message - the trap he has laid - to her companions, but without proof, they are skeptical.

I'd passed on Sideshow's Vader when he first fit for financial reasons, and had regretted it off and on. Recently I was able to pick one up for less than retail and couldn't resist posing him with Ben locked in the "Excalibur" due.

While I still plan on grabbing the new ESB/ROTJ version of Vader to go with the ESB gang this one will go with my classic movie figures along with Ben, my Sandtrooper, and hopefully Tarkin somewhere down the road. Funny. I was just thinking how I wanted to pick up a couple more film icons from the 70s... lol

Again, please note the Deathstroke in the front row was only a test print and is NOT for sale! Please don't ask in the comments or they will be deleted. The Grand Moff Tarkin in the back was for a side project, and the Storm Shadow was a test print of my design.

"Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director." - Darth Vader to Orson Krennic

On Mustafar, Lord Vader and Krennic discuss the Death Star: Vader criticizes the lack of secrecy surrounding the project, whilst Krennic emphasizes the extraordinary power of the weapon. Krennic requests control over the project instead of Tarkin, which pushes Vader to the edge of his patience, and he uses the Force to choke Krennic. He delivers a final warning before releasing the director.

Comment !

To be continued ...

Did you ever travel so fast that the very time frame continuum warped?

The Kessel Run was one of the most heavily used smuggling routes in the Galactic Empire. Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". A parsec is a unit of distance, not time. Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance. By moving closer to the black holes, Solo managed to cut the distance down to about 11.5 parsecs.[source?] The smuggler BoShek actually beat Solo's record in his ship, Infinity, but without cargo to weigh him down. A few months later, Han Solo beat both his own and BoShek's records in a run he made with Luke Skywalker

"And our stormtroopers were outfought, our starfleet evaded? How is this possible? Whose ship was it?"

"That is difficult to say. She had false identification markings and a forged registration. Moreover, she was an extremely fast and elusive vessel, probably piloted by one of the smugglers who congregate in that region."

Peter Wilton Cushing OBE (26 May 1913 – 11 August 1994) was an English actor. His acting career spanned over six decades and included appearances in more than 100 films, as well as many television, stage, and radio roles. He achieved recognition in his home country for his leading performances in the Hammer Productions horror films from the 1950s to 1970s, while earning international prominence as Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars (1977).

Born in Kenley, Surrey, Cushing made his stage debut in 1935 and spent three years at a repertory theatre before moving to Hollywood to pursue a film career. After making his motion picture debut in the film The Man in the Iron Mask (1939), Cushing began to find modest success in American films before returning to England at the outbreak of the Second World War. Despite performing in a string of roles, including one as Osric in Laurence Olivier's film adaptation of Hamlet (1948), Cushing struggled greatly to find work during this period. His career was revitalised once he started to work in live television plays, and he soon became one of the most recognisable faces in British television. He earned particular acclaim for his lead performance as Winston Smith in a BBC adaptation of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (1954).

Cushing gained worldwide fame for his appearances in 22 horror films from the Hammer studio, particularly for his role as Baron Frankenstein in six of their seven Frankenstein films, and Doctor Van Helsing in five Dracula films. Cushing often appeared alongside actor Christopher Lee, who became one of his closest friends, and occasionally with the American horror star Vincent Price. Cushing appeared in several other Hammer films, including The Abominable Snowman (1957), The Mummy and The Hound of the Baskervilles (both 1959), the last of which marked the first of the several occasions he portrayed the detective Sherlock Holmes. Cushing continued to perform in a variety of roles, although he was often typecast as a horror film actor. He played Dr. Who in Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965) and Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. (1966) and gained the highest amount of visibility in his career with his part in the original Star Wars film. Cushing continued acting into the early 1990s and wrote two autobiographies. Cushing had a variety of interests outside acting, including collecting and battling model soldiers, of which he owned over five thousand.[139] He hand-painted many and used the Little Wars rule set by H. G. Wells for miniature wargaming.[140] He also loved games and practical jokes,[15] and enjoyed drawing and painting watercolours, the latter of which he did especially often in his later years.[45]

After his wife's death, Cushing visited several churches and spoke to religious ministers, but was dissatisfied by their reluctance to discuss death and the afterlife, and never joined an organized religion. He nevertheless maintained a belief in both God and an afterlife.[99][141] He was an ardent vegetarian for most of his life who served as a patron with the Vegetarian Society from 1987 until his death.[142] He also had a great interest in ornithology and wildlife in general.[28] He suffered from nyctophobia from early in his life, but in his later years overcame this by forcing himself to take walks outside after midnight.[143]

Cushing was known among his colleagues for his gentle and gentlemanly demeanour, as well as his professionalism and rigorous preparation as an actor.[21] He once said that he learned his parts "from cover to cover" before filming began.[144] His co-stars and colleagues often spoke of his politeness, charm, old-fashioned manners and sense of humour.[10] While working, he actively provided feedback and suggestions on other elements beyond his performance, such as dialogue and wardrobe. At times, this put him at odds with writers and producers; Hammer Studios producer Anthony Hinds once declared him a "fusspot [and] terrible fusser about his wardrobe and everything, but never a difficult man."[71]

Although he appeared in both television and stage productions, Cushing preferred the medium of film, which allowed his perfectionist nature to work out the best performance possible.[10] He did not enjoy the repetitive nature of stage performances, and once compared it to a painter being forced to paint the same picture every day.[92] Cushing himself was not a particular fan of horror or science fiction films, but he tended to choose roles not based on whether he enjoyed them, but whether he felt his audience would enjoy him in them.[10] However, Cushing was very proud of his experiences with the Hammer films, and never resented becoming known as a horror actor.[4] He always took the roles seriously and never portrayed them in a campy or tongue-in-cheek style because he felt it would be insulting to his audience.[10][42][68]

On 10 April 1943, Cushing married Violet Hélène Beck, sister of Reginald Beck.

In 1971 Cushing's wife died of emphysema. Cushing often said he felt his life had ended when hers did,[10] and he was so crushed that when his first autobiography was published in 1986, it made no mention of his life after her death.[28] In 1972, he was quoted in the Radio Times as having said, "Since Helen passed on I can't find anything; the heart, quite simply, has gone out of everything. Time is interminable, the loneliness is almost unbearable and the only thing that keeps me going is the knowledge that my dear Helen and I will be reunited again some day. To join Helen is my only ambition. You have my permission to publish that ... really, you know, dear boy, it's all just killing time. Please say that."[146]

In his autobiography, Cushing implies that he attempted suicide on the night of his wife's death by running up and down stairs in the vain hope that it would induce a heart attack. He later stated that this had simply been a hysterical response borne out of grief, and that he had not purposely attempted to end his life; a poem left by Helen had implored him not to die until he had lived his life to the full.[141]

The effects of his wife's death proved to be as much physical as mental. For his role in Dracula A.D. 1972, Cushing (who was 58) had originally been cast as the father of Stephanie Beacham's character, but had aged so visibly and lost so much weight that the script was hastily rewritten to make him her grandfather: it was done again in the last Dracula film from Hammer, The Satanic Rites of Dracula.[147] In a silent tribute to Helen, a shot of Van Helsing's desk includes a photograph of her. He repeated the role of the man who lost family in other horror films, including Asylum (1972), The Creeping Flesh (1973), and The Ghoul (1975).

hello we meet again for a small photo featuring the imperial command

Tarkin the dilute brindled Boston Terrier checking out a shrub.

Emperor: Hassan!

Hassan: My liege?

Emperor: Did he see him?

Hassan: The boy? Yes. Vader saw him.

Emperor: And....does he...know?

Hassan: What the boy claims to be? Yes.

Emperor: Excellent. No doubt Vader is already attempting to piece everything together as we speak.

Hassan: Your majesty, pardon my suspicion, but do you feel it is the best course of action to have Vader investigate the boy's claims? The fact that he did not consult with you as to the revelation may imply ulterior motives behind his investigation.

Emperor: Of that, we both agree Hassan. Which is why I allow it to continue. Lord Vader will investigate the claims made by the boy until he is certain whether they are fact or fiction. From there, we shall make our move.

Hassan: But what if he tries to kill the boy rather than simply investigate him? It wouldn't be the first time he's slain a suitable candidate to be his replacement.

Emperor: You underestimate the situation, Hassan. The relationship between master and apprentice is far different amongst the ranks of the Sith than they are for the Jedi. The Jedi attempt to install loyalty and restraint in their padawans. We insist on the opposite. Why else would we have such a crude discipline as the Rule of Two if we demanded loyalty?

Hassan: To root out weakness amongst the ranks.

Emperor: Wise words, my old friend. You know our ways well. But it's also to engender self dependence. That is why we have survived for generations, whilst the Jedi are all but extinct. One Sith, can conquer worlds. One Jedi, can't even protect themselves from my wrath.

Hassan: But what if there is truth to all this? You'd be putting your own flesh and blood at risk by exposing him to Vader!

Emperor: Perhaps. Perhaps not. The boy does not appear to be strong with the force despite all that he told Tarkin. No child of mine could be so powerless.

Hassan: But we both know the force works in mysterious ways, your majesty. After all, you were one of five children and you were the only were granted the power of the force.

Emperor: If he is my flesh and blood, then it's possible his abilities have yet to manifest themselves. The force has been known to come to people at different stages in their life. It's possible that he may yet have the potential.

Hassan: The potential to replace Vader?

Emperor: Possibly.

Hassan: Then surely we should put him under ISB protection. For all we know, Vader may suspect this and simply choose to remove what he may see a threat.

Emperor: You doubt me, Hassan? The very person whose vision has placed you as one of the most powerful figures within my Empire?

Hassan: No, your majesty. I merely believe that a potential heir to the Empire should be granted the necessary security. Despite the continued insistence to the Senate, we both know things are far from stable in the galaxy currently.

Emperor: Indeed. But granting the highest level of security to this boy, merely draws attention to him. The last thing I need is a scandal. Especially when Organa is looking for any reason to depose me.

Hassan: We simply need more time to enact the stratagem, your excellency. It will only be a matter of time before the weapon is completed.

Emperor: When it is completed. I would like it to be demonstrated on Organa's home world first. A punishment for his disloyalty. Contact the Renegades.

Hassan: Your greatness?

Emperor: A large squad of ISB agents will draw attention to the boy, and cause Vader to believe the claims are true. If the boy truly is...my son....we'll need a contingency in place for if Vader does make a move against him.

Hassan: What would you have them do, my liege?

Emperor: I want them to shadow Vader. Observe his movements and report the findings to me.

Hassan: Last I heard from them, they were performing a task for Airsko.

Emperor: The Saturine Pirates I presume.

Hassan: Indeed.

Emperor: Good. With those pirates eliminated we can begin constructing our mining operation on the three moons. Have him resupply the Renegades and dispatch them to Naboo.

Hassan: Naboo, your majesty?

Emperor: It is where Vader will go first. He'll start at the beginning. Namely, my private residence.

Hassan: Should I alert security to expect his arrival?

Emperor: No. Vader believes he's doing this of his own free will. An unexpected element of co-operation will merely reveal our hand in this matter. Do not notify security at my residence. Now, who is my next appointment?

Hassan: Tarkin, your excellency.

Emperor: Good. His weekly briefings on the station?

Hassan: Yes, your majesty.

Emperor: See him in. Then send word to Airsko. I want to know everything that Lord Vader uncovers.

Hassan: Yes. My Emperor.

/////Log Entry/////

We've reached the orbit of Akiva.

Sergeant Sev told us, to prepare the equipment. This was supposed to be a stealth landing.

"Take suppressors guys. We have a special mission to complete. Directly from admiral Tarkin." said sergeant.

When the alarms rang, Ivo was prepared. He is always ready for fight.

I ran for my jetpack first.

I have to show my commander, that I'm worth something.

And this is the best chance.

I've been really wanting to join the 253rd. legion group. I decided that today was the perfect day. Sunny saturday. ;) I build something like that first time, but I hope you'll consider my application. ;)

Next MOC is much much better than this. I'm 100% sure. ;)

Correct me, if I will write something wrong. Google translate doesn't help too much. :D

Greetings, Jan

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Here is my entry for round 2 of the “MOC Olympics” contest. In this round we have to build a ship or an iconic scene of the Empire or the First Order. A base of 32 x 32 was the limit.

As you can see I decided to build an iconic scene of the Empire. My MOC shows the meeting, which all the high members of the Imperial Military attended and where they debated whether to use the death star immediately or not. The meeting also resulted in Darth Vader briefly strangling Motti with the Force after the latter insubordinately retorted Vader's warning that the abilities of the Death Star were miniscule compared to the Force.

I hope you like it.

Check out part 1 on Dagobah

Bl[]ckies are my block-headed character friends!

We've got the 3 main baddies of Rogue One here, in Bl[]cky form.

I've been trying to find a simple design for some small (yet recognizable) figures for a little bit of time now. I'm finally satisfied with this potential style.

Let me know what you think. They're really simple, and the techniques aren't anything new, and I've used them all before, but that was intentional so I could possibly make many.

If these go over well, I might make some leading rebel characters from Rogue One. Let me know!!

Also not sure if someone has already used the name "Blockies" for a series. I did a search in Flikr and didn't come up with something...if someone saw something I didn't, let me know and I'll come up with some other name.

Through the creations that I build, I hope to inspire other young (or perhaps older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity. We all need a positive way to express ourselves, so let's let LEGO be an extension of us. Your creativity belongs to you, and nobody can take that away. Build what you want to build, and how you want to build it.

Finally, after 40 yrs...I’m a bit teary eyed! 😉

Yet another shot of an Oxford Comic Con Stormtrooper......... I've a few more to come too. I was rather excited by the juxtaposition with the traditional stone walls behind......

From Wikipedia : "A stormtrooper is a fictional soldier in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas. Introduced in Star Wars (1977), the stormtroopers are the main ground force of the Galactic Empire, under the leadership of Emperor Palpatine and his commanders, most notably Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. In The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), the upgraded stormtroopers serve the First Order, under the leadership of Supreme Leader Snoke and his commanders, most notably Kylo Ren, General Hux, and Captain Phasma.

The order of battle of the Stormtrooper Corps is unspecified in the Star Wars universe. Accompanying the Imperial Navy, stormtroopers are able to be deployed swiftly and respond to states of civil unrest or insurrection, act as a planetary garrison, and police areas within the Galactic Empire. They are shown in collective groups of varying organizational sizes ranging from squads to legions and for some, their armor and training are modified for special operations and environments."

Oh, the joy of welcoming a Hot Toys Peter Cushing to the collection! He's always been one of my favourite actors and by all accounts just such a lovely chap too.

I wish HT had taken a bit more time with his hands as they're a little large the sculpting could've been sharper. Also, it's a shame they didn't include a pair of carpet slippers with though (he found the jackboots too tight and so would wear slippers for the waist high scenes)... but overall I'm more than happy with this Tarkin and will hopefully get some more shots taken once my big photo table is clear again.
