Last month I've ordered this Tangled paint-by-numbers kit, and yesterday I just finished it. The painting process is quite interesting.

Tangles used: Squid, Bales, Kofeforn, Rosewood, Flutter Pie, and 'Nzeppel.

21 x 21 inches

Acrylic, Ink, Watercolor, Latex and Household on Fabric

Night's falling, time to visit the garden of tangled dreams. The dreams weave an intricate pattern, making bizarre connections between events from different times in life.

I worked on a piece of vintage fabric, woven in an interesting fashion, sifting the light in certain spots but completely obscuring it in others. I was intrigued and used this feature in the artwork: many layers of latex, acrylic and calcium carbonate from crushed eggshells are adhered to the surface but these junctions where the light sifts through are left to breathe and let the light in. You may prefer to accentuate this feature by hanging a light fixture under this painting for a wonderful effect.

This piece was inspired by Paul Klee's textural paintings, and the basic grid explores his train of thought. The fabric is stretched on a wooden frame, and is adorned with corded silk ribbons, couched to the canvas in freeform embroidery. Many layers of blue colour create a wonderful depth and accentuate sculptural elements in this artwork. Soft becomes hard, and fabric gains a new meaning open for a variety of interpretation.

Two bachelor bulls getting in some practice tangling tines in anticipation of a potential challenge from the herd bull.

A simple border pattern. I call my borders "stringers".

Another one I drew in the car. Features Jacki and Chugh; both from Standy Steen Bartholomew's book "Totally Tangled".

Another pink watercolour base with a touch of purple... I made a batch of these coloured tiles, and this just happened to be the last one. [Need to make more!]

I used Flux and Tipple in a duotangle, which is something that I can't seem to stop doing these days :P The outcome doesn't look as simple as I thought it would, but the process was :)

My first tangle let loose in the wild...

I think the inspiration for this very simple tangle came from looking at stick figure comics, believe it or not.. It starts simply with two crossed lines, perpendicular to each other, then add circles to each end (the stick figure head), two dots for eyes, antennae, and then what the Zentangle folks call "auras" or outlines around the shape.. most of the time for this I use two of them. Placement? You can fill an entire area with these or use wide open spaces in between, or lay them out in a row, or overlap them here and there...

For an example of this in action see my blog post:

Happy Fence Friday! Have a wonderul weekend!

Day 215 of 365 (Saturday - aka New Year's Eve). I love seeing the pylons in the fens where I grew up. I tried to capture a shot of them in the fields but wasn't happy with the results. I decided to run into a field to get a shot from under it. I could have done with a wider angle, but did my best by lying in the field to get this. I could hear the crackling of the electricity around me, which added to the fun! It is one of those things that without the 365 I probably wouldn't have done. With New Year approaching it made me think how I'd like to take such opportunities to use the 365 to do things I may not otherwise have done.

SOOC

This postcard features Fengle which I have hardly ever (if ever) done. Also included is Mooka, and then some tangles in the centers of Fengle: Florz, Knightsbridge, and Diva Dance.

This is a tricky tangle and taken a lot of practice.

A new series of mini-Zendalas (Canson 220gsm paper, 3" circles punched out with an Artemio punch). Tangles Showgirl, Quipple, arcs crossed Hollibaugh-style. Coloured with a Koh-I-Noor Magic 3400 pencil.

This is my first coloured Zendala.

I used Flux because I wanted a tangle that I was confident in drawing (as I am not confident about using colours as it is), and also one that has a fluid base shape.

My good friend who lives in NC, USA, has been telling me about her air conditioning woes and we've been discussing A/C capacitors a LOT the past week as we are also having very HOT weather in Singapore.

I also happen to recall bits of childhood spent watching Back to the Future....... So... There you go, here's my very own Flux Capacitor.

P.S. The friend in NC is very tickled that her A/C has inspired a zendala.

Brincadeiras de final de semana.
