SYNOPSIS: Walt Disney Pictures presents "Rapunzel," an action-packed, swashbuckling, animated musical comedy about the girl behind 70 feet of magical, golden hair. A princess stolen from her parents' castle as a baby, Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore) is locked in a hidden tower longing for adventure. Now an imaginative and determined teenager, she takes off on a hilarious, hair-raising escapade with the help of a dashing bandit (voice of Zachary Levi). With the secret of her royal heritage hanging in the balance and her captor in pursuit, Rapunzel and her cohort find adventure, heart, humor and hair..lots of hair. Original music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater. Synopsis borrowed from Film Jabber.
MY CLOUD: As a kid, I was never much for fairy tales and nursery rhymes so I never knew that this was Rapunzel's story. I guess it's normal that I was so in awe of her hair.. It's just so looong. She could clean their whole tower from top to bottom.
The 1st thing that I thought of was that love is freeing - not just setting another person free but also lets you love another person freely. I remember the Filipino saying, "The more you hate, the more you love." There is some truth to it. Hate is synonymous to love, only on a different plane. This is the exact same reason as to why they can never go together. I don't think you can cover 1 mistake forever. It'll only be fixed if you own up to it, if the root problem's face head-on. Just like what happened to Rapunzel's "mother", it haunted her until the end. Mainly because her reason, from the onset, for keeping Rapunzel's selfishness. Despite the "safety and protection" that she's claiming to provide Rapunzel, these are false tenders of love as she's gaining back her physical youth through Rapunzel's hair.
I love how Flynn Riley, being the thief that he is, becomes "tangled" in Rapunzel's life. It's as if everything was meant to be - for Flynn to accidentally discover the beauty behind that bush, for Rapunzel to finally risk her "mother's" wrath for going outside the "cruel" world and for the horse to unconsciously bring them together.
Of course, all's well that ends well. Rapunzel reunites with her family; Eugene (Fitzpatrick) a.k.a. Flynn Riley becomes friends with his horse again; Rapunzel's "mother" finally gets what she deserves from the moment she kidnapped her.
I think this was a brave film, if only for the risque of Rapunzel being a brunette for a few scenes ;)
Finally deboxed her, definitely one of my favourite dolls!

I went camera crusading at a nearby conservation area in hopes of getting some nice watery landscape images for the weekly photo challenge, but the weather was not being cooperative. It was quite windy causing choppy lakes and the trees & plants were swaying considerably more for what type of photos I wanted to capture. Ugh!
Not to be discourage I quickly changed plans from expansive landscapes to not quite so expansive environmental-ish still life-ish images. Luckily for me a string of boats were tied up with nothing to do except to sit pretty while I fire off a few frames.
Now, was this how I envisioned my photo day? Eh, not really. But you know what they say...when life gives you lemons take pictures of flooded john boats with weed-wrapped wooden oars. It's true! I've heard that!

...was found under the tangle of weeds in the garden earlier today...she was quite upset at being disturbed and losing her home...i had to place her here so she would be safe....then, after she threatened to turn me into a toad, i had to promise her I would make her a fabulous new home! She said she preferred Toadstool houses...hmmmmm

Another Tangle Sampler. Original is 5" x 7"; and I've named it Circles, Squares and Rectangles. Not a very exciting name, huh? It's pretty "busy" but as a sampler, I guess that's not so bad. Anyway, I don't know if I've mentioned it here yet, but I am all paid and scheduled for CZT Training in September and I'm so excited to be able to teach this wonderful art form as soon as I'm certified. I'm practicing practically non-stop. Anyway, here's a list of all the tangles used, in alpha order with the source of the tangle. I truly believe in giving credit to the artists who so inspire me. Circles were drawn using a jigger glass as a template. Center square drawn by tracing a zentangle tile. Other rectangles/partial squares strings are free-hand.

These are for a little girl's 5 year old birthday. Making these cookies were special for me as "Tangled" was the last movie my brother and I saw together.

A little late for July 4......but there's always next year. Maybe a card for somebody. Tangles: Up and Over, Baton, Auraknot, Hollibaugh, and a Cadent variation.
My 'Tangle' brings out my inner child. It's the colours and textures. I fight my grandchildren for it.
This is in the Alaska Range near Paxson Alaska looking toward the lower Tangle Lakes. The Nelchina caribou appear in May and October. There is always moose, and grizzly bear. The lakes are full of Arctic grayling and small Lake trout. I think it's called the Tangles because of the winding twisty nature of the lakes and Delta River. I call the whole area the tangles because I've spent 30 years falling on my face and tripping over the high bush like that is in the foreground.
I loved doing these landscapes which is an idea I borrowed from someone else on the internet with different tangles.

On Lykavittos / Lykabettus hill, in the centre of Athens, the easy method is to simply let the cables and wires dangle down the hill. I can't help see this image as a parabole of modern Greek society... Don't worry, someone else will fix it! The result is this tangled web trap...

This is my new tangle, Amarin which means "immortal" or "undying" in Thai.

Amarin is an organic tangle, varying the auras give it different looks. Variations featured in this series of photos include:
- Single bloom Amarin
- Cluster Amarin

The little loop (flic.kr/p/hU9sQ3) disturbed me so much, I had to add more Tipple to balance the tile out :) Now I like it better.
