My Mum and I with our delightful tablemates Alison and Betty.
We had a wonderful time here, night after night, over wonderful 5 and 6 course dinners. The night that sticks in my mind is the night we watched the sun set over the horizon (something I'd never seen) on the same day that I'd watched it rise as we passed by Africa.
The Platinum Diningroom, where we enjoyed our dinner each night with our wonderful tablemates/now friends: Marci, Kisha, Dawn & Shannon! *Just wait until you see what happens in this fancy diningroom everynight, in the next video I am about to upload! -stay tuned!

Peruvian ceviche with king prawn accompanied by sweet potatoes, corn, cancha (fried corn) and the Peruvian cocktail called "Pisco Sour" (Selective Focus, Focus on the front of king prawn)
You wake up in the morning and you look at your old spoon, and you say to yourself, 'Mick, it's time to get yourself a new spoon.' And you do.

These coiled mats are made from scraps of fabric wrapped around a cord.Isn't this rainbow fabric fantastic?
($5). One of three sides available. Highly addictive craggy crisp fried chips are served with a cumin-spiked house made catsup. Excellent.
This wasn't in our tasting, but it was a must not miss.
I'm not one who stops ordering savouries at the close of a meal. In fact, I'm known to add on another plate after dessert. When it comes to great food, I'm not one that discriminates.
Possibly the luck of the draw, as my lovely tablemates were either too full or had the sense to not close with more savoury bites, but this was essentially all mine.
Strategic ordering at its best. Next time I know. ;)
These indigo cotton placemats are just right for casual summer dining out of doors. Perfect for an early morning breakfast or a light lunch under the sun umbrella, their dusky blue colour and open lacy patterning brings a welcome sense of cool even to the hottest of summer days.

Day 10 of our Mediterranean cruise aboard the Celebrity Reflection marked our second and final formal night in the Opus dining room. Mike had missed the previous formal night as he was feeling unwell; but happily, all six members of our table made it to the final formal-night dinner. With everyone dressed up for the evening, I thought it was a good opportunity to take a few photos. Here, Garry and Pam Monteith pose for the camera. (Apologies for the poor lighting; the bright light from the windows washed the pic out a bit.) We really enjoyed chatting with both of the Aussie couples at our table; we certainly lucked out with such a friendly and interesting group of tablemates!

Or, as one of our tablemates at dinner called it - the Brassiere. We think she was serious.
Starting to seal up the sides of the hand pieced, hand quilted and hand finished hungry caterpillar fabric hexagon quilted table mat.

Seated at the sidewalk terrace of an Italian restaurant Greenwich Village on a BEAUTIFUL Saturday afternoon, this man wasn't paying any attention to the plate of food placed before him on the table. Sometimes food just has to be relegated to the back burner! His expression here is full of concentration, very in the moment. (In another shot, he's smiling...) His tablemate however, seen to his left, is just plain glum...or perhaps hungry; he hadn't been served yet!

Notes: If I'm putting two-and-two together correctly, this pasta shape derives its name from calamari - as these wide-banded rings resemble broadly cut cross-sections of squid. I didn't get to taste this pasta, but both of my tablemates who ordered it as a 2nd course nearly licked the bowl (and the mussel shell) clean. Evidently, it was very good. My friend also told me that there were some plump and expertly cooked shrimp in the pasta (which, unfortunately didn't make it in the photo).
