Alhambra the 'Red' palace was built high above Granada and is still a
breath-taking example of Islamic archictecture in Andalusia.
Here, European and Arabian Art and culture mingled and eventually the
Mauresque symbiosis became both refined and elegant.
The patterns on the placemat and napkin are both inspired by the splendid
wall-decorations in the Alhambra, while the delicate colours of the
embroidery reflect the mysterious light of these mosaiques.

Nicolas Feuillatte at Le Cirque in NYC
This was my favorite (as well as the my tablemates) pairing. Amazing fireworks that I needed to have a few glasses of the Nicolas Feuillatte Cuvée Spéciale 2000, since it's insanely delicious.

We make these colored napkins daily for our two sons' lunches. They are both in grade school. We started these with our first son when he began first grade (5 years ago). These napkins have become fun to share with their tablemates, classes, and teachers.
Star Wars is a particularly popular request by our sons!

We dined at Solociccia, right across from his butcher shop. Solociccia has only one seating a day, at 1PM. Dario invites all RSVPs to his butcher shop before 1PM to have antipasti and chianti. He is there to host and entertain. Which he does. Look here for a very short video of the noise level and rock music that was blaring during this event. It was so fun!

After my grandpa passed away my mother made me a quilt from his cut up shirts. I decided to use the scraps for a table mat to put under the lamp I got from my grandma. The hexagons are all hand sewn, the edges were done by machine. The size is about 13" x 14". Made Aug - Oct. 2015.
ROPE develops ICT accessable production centers in the rural villages of Tamil Nadu, wherein natural fibers are used to make different products.
This table mat is an example of such products. It has been made of banan rope by women in a village in Tanjore district.

Sourdough: Wow, 3 weapons about to attack me?
Knife: No?
Fork: It's 4 if you consider chopsticks as 2 instead of 1.
Chopsticks: Erm, but I'm not going to be used to eat sourdough.
Stir-fried spinach: Correct. Either Chopsticks will pick me or Fork will poke me and send me to the cook.
Fork: Although the cook initially intended to eat sourdough using me, it's best to have sourdough using hands.
Butter: Buttered Sourdough will make the eating experience even more wonderful, although the cook will find having Sourdough on its own is already wonderful.
Glass of Water: Though more fatty when buttered.
Reading Glasses: Anyway, Sourdough, you reminded the cook some good times though also reminded the cook what the cook couldn't do in that city where she stayed for just 4 days.
Sourdough: Oh?
Spider Plant: Initially before the cook went there, the cook also had 2 other Sourdough bought at the same store where you were baked, and were very pleased with the taste.
Glass of Water: So pleased that she had wondered if she needed to get more Sourdough when she would be in that city that gave her the idea of getting Sourdough in this local store.
Reading Glasses: In the end, don't even have to think about it. She didn't even bother to walk far to check if the restaurant was opened for takeaway because everyone needed to be -
Everyone: Social distancing!
Reading Glasses: And couldn't be walking that far too to get food too.
Cat in the laptop: Hmm, why suddenly all these talk? Sounds like the cook is thinking of something again?
Wallet: Thinking of going to that city again?
Cat in the laptop: No way - when the cook hasn't been able to visit me. The cook couldn't be going any further.
Reading Glasses: Cat in the laptop, what you said is true. Not possible at this moment. But when things return to the new normal, the cook would like to visit Y park again - but only in March or Nov. And of course to go to Y park, will be stopping by that city. And of course, before stopping by that city, the cook should have visited you many times in the real world.
Cat in the laptop: OK .. so, is the cook still going to guess if her neighbor at B street who had a Mr. Lion to represent him long time ago - also be going if she is going?
Wall: WHAT?!!??
Glass of Water: Wow, didn't know Wall can scream.
Spider Plant: Same here. Hey Listening Wall, why such a big reaction?
Wall: It's not fun guessing! Even the builder Another B o y had his team to cut rectangles and squares here and there to check if I got rots! Do you think the cook and Neighbor at B street have so much time to play the guessing game?
(The cook - from somewhere in the kitchen: No time! Don't want to guess anymore! I want to see him there and before going there, I want to see him and talk to him in the real world too!)
Cat in the laptop: Ya. Either one of them or both of them might not have time and the luck next time. It has been very lucky that all seems to end well this time. The cook didn't get into any real trouble, got back safely without catching the vyrus. Most importantly, the cook also found that - although Neighbor at B street couldn't go there, the cook saw his lookalike on that flight day before leaving that city - in the plane! If his lookalike did not manage to walk all the way to the back of the aircraft - his workmates seemed to be preventing him to walk any further - the cook wouldn't know that there was someone who looks like Neighbor at B street on the plane. And without knowing that, the cook wouldn't have paid extra attention before getting off the plane, to confirm if the lookalike is really a lookalike messenger sent by Neighbor at B street, or if her eyes and brain need more checking. And hopefully the lookalike messenger did not get into real trouble too - like catching the vyrus - although we can't tell whether he would still be keeping his work.
Table: That is an uncertainty faced by many people these days.. just have to keep thinking positively, treat the no work as a long vacation and try another type of work when there is opportunity! Is the cook still working? Seldom see her in the dining room.
Ironing Board: Yes she is. She is glad she still has work to do and has been working.
Table: Oh Ironing Board! I've been wondering, why are you in the living room these days?
Ironing Board: I'm working with the cook when the cook is working not cooking. By the way I am the first ironing board that the cook bought in this country and have been with the cook for many years - perhaps as long as you are with the cook or even longer by a few months. Laptop, care to share more info?
Laptop: Yep. I am placed on top of the Ironing Board - with a tablemat underneath me as usual. The cook could adjust Ironing Board accordingly to the height that the cook requires - when sitting or when standing.
Ironing Board: And somehow, today, posting day, without spending anytime working while sitting on the sofa, but all the time with me as the table for Laptop, the cook was able to feel some difference between working from home and not working at home.
Cat in the laptop: Anyway. Though the cook didn't get the vyrus this time from the trip a month ago, it does not guarantee that the cook won't catch it unknowingly before the cure is out, same thing applies to the background team. Although catching it does not mean that one will definitely finish the time here in the real world and picture world, and go to the other unknown side, there could be quite a challenge to overcome it. So, stay safe everyone, and think positive!

My Uncle and Grandparents left for the USA on week before my mother on the Rotterdam. This is my grandparents and uncle with their tablemates in the dining room.

These coiled mats are made from scraps of fabric wrapped around a cord. This one was made from some Halloween fabric.
Dinner was at an assigned time at an assigned table. We were in the second seating, at 20.00 (8 pm).
(Paul is convinced we were put in the second seating because I was traveling under my maiden name since that's what my passport is in, and it's a typically Scandinavian name — not American.)
Our tablemates were a couple from Germany, who we got along great with. We turned heads in the dining room several nights with our laughter, and on the last night aboard, we invited our new friends to visit us in the US. I hope they do.
Dinner was a set menu each night. I had promised myself I would taste fish when it was served, and I did. I learned fresh salmon and halibut aren't "fishy," but smoked salmon is (to my palette, at least).
I will confess, though, that days when fish on the menu, I bought a burger in the cafeteria in the afternoon to prepare myself.
One from the archives. This 'flower' is from a Hoya plant given to us by a friend. Sadly our friend died a few months later with cancer. I no longer have this greenhouse hanging plant but I remember its beautiful heady perfume. The coiled background is actually a table mat from days gone by.
