A souvenir of my time working in the Officers Mess at R.A.F. Binbrook.
I wonder which officers ate their meals on this mat, John Rands of Red Arrows fame, David "Charlie" Chan ? ( who became CO 17 Sqn and first RAF pilot to fly solo in the Typhoon)
These coiled mats are made from scraps of fabric wrapped around a cord. I like using different shades of the same colour in one mat--aren't these periwinkle blues great?

The feeling that it was all over hit me during dessert. I'm going to miss my tablemates and all the fun and meeting everyone (_Darin, Mark, Gloria, Tracy and mom, Angela and Mary, wepon, shug, amelie and jennfl). But we'll be back next year.
It's back to the airport for me. Back to reality once again.

The Provence region of France is famous for its Lavender.
I took this shot from a tablemat on display outside a shop in Avignon (Navette Macaron).

I managed to crank out 4 table toppers before I lost interest last night: these two brown ones, a chartreuse one just like them, and a red one that's more of a circle than a flower. I plan to keep these two in the living room on this corner table, and the others will probably go down to the family room to replace the few that have gone missing since I crocheted my first batch.
Handspun flax tow (blue, rust, gray skeins) and line (larger straw coloured skein) and handwoven table mat (rigid heddle loom) and inkle woven belt made from flax tow. All skeins spun on Loet spinning wheel (wet). Red is madder, blue indigo, and if you can see the gold in the belt it is onion skin. The beige and greyish tones are the undyed scoured flax.
Day 4 of our Mediterranean cruise aboard the Celebrity Reflection ended up being a formal night. It was originally scheduled for our first day at sea; but given the rough waters that day, they pushed it to our second day at sea. Unfortunately, Mike decided to pass on our formal-night dinner in the Opus dining room as he wasn't feeling well; but I enjoyed a lovely meal with the two Australian couples that were our tablemates for the duration of the cruise. After I snapped a group photo of both couples -- Wendy & Laurie Jorgensen and Garry & Pam Monteith -- Wendy offered to take a photo of me and the Monteiths with my camera. So here I am in formal dress (not that you can really tell, since it was black) between our new friends Garry and Pam.
