The house that Saul Zaik designed for his family in 1961, natural wood, carefully placed windows w/ wooded views. The main house & bedroom wing are separated by a glass entry lobby. Constructed using post & beam, main living space is a "great room" w/ dining, living & kitchen below a vaulted ceiling. White wall panels balance the large amount of wood & partial-height walls control spatial organization while allowing the ceiling to float overhead.

Suspension, table and wall lamp with diffuser in laser-sintered nylon built in 1200 layers.
Chrome-plated metal fixture.
Lighting object formally very complex and rich in details that evoke organic vitality.
This is the first time – in the field of lighting design – that the precious technology of laser sintering, typical of rapid prototyping, is applied to serial production. With this technique the basic material – nylon powder – is continually fused and spread through the laser beam layer by layer in 1200 passages, depositing the 3D projected drawing. The resulting complex form is realisable with no other technology.
Colour: white
Made this from an old cutlery set box, piece of opal acrylic, two daylight bulbs, ceramic bulb holders, flex from an old tablelamp and reflectors from old shop fluorescent ceiling light fitting.

I am both a non smoker and anti smoker but did this assignment to practise creating a glamourised smoking effect. The model was Murug, a colleague and friend. His macho and rustic looks were perfect for my shoot. My challenge was that I had no studio lights, no tripod and no macro. Used the normal tablelamp lighting at my home. All pictures taken with Nikon D300 handheld. Wanted to portray the peace that a smoker reaches when in solitude.
