Visitors to the Don Harrington Discovery Center interact with the MT multitouch, multiuser table during a day of testing. The level of enthusiasm for the table was high as the table was crowded most of the day. Designed by Filipe Alarcão, Portugal's renowned product designer, the Gem table is made with DuPont's monteli. A new material very similar to Corian. The monteli however absorbs the bonding of specific glue differently, making it impossible to view the pieces connecting. The end result is a piece that looks like it's been carved from a single stone. This item was manufactured in a limited numbered edition and each unit includes a signed certificate engraved in the bottom of each GEM.
I made another table runner from two cupcake designed towels that are being sold at Target as part of their Valentine line. Just sew a wide grosgrain ribbon over the middle where the two towel met. This project took about 15 minutes (because I have to pull out my sewing machine and plug it in!)

This was a shot for a downtown brochure to cover dining. I used 4 lights here and some creativity to get thm all to trigger. For the table and people i had two hensel strobes, one to the left and one to the right, bounced into umbrellas. the background was very dark so i added two nikon flashes sitting on chairs and aimed at the ceiling just to throw some light around. I had a pocket wizard on the camera and on one nikon flash. I had a wein optical slave on the other flash and the hensels have them built in.
It was taken in Millenáris Park where all the cows were collected to at the end of the 2006 Budapest parade.
This one is called TerÃtÅ‘ tehén which translates something like 'Table-cower'.

Table set for a wedding reception on the Madrone Mound at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga CA. Each bamboo plant had a guest's name on it so everyone knew were to sit.
This underwater treatment table was used for hydrotherapy in the pool at FDR's Warm Springs Polio Treatment Center (Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute)for Polio Victims. The pool was filled with water rich with minerals from a local spring. The properties and bouyancy of the water proveded releif to the patients, the most famous (and founder being FDR, many of whom whom were able to move about freely in the soothing water. There were many of tese installed in the pool when the center was in full operation.
The pool is filled twice per year and local residents are invited to experience it.
