Just another take on this scene from a decade ago.

Long before I ever dreamt I'd be coming here every night to work I found myself poking around Boston Engine Terminal back during the MBCR era while home from Alaska on my annual fall vacation. Stopping outside the gate at 3rd Avenue I stumbled upon the one of a kind work train engine going about a few chores on the Valley Track. This was back before the T owned and controlled the two CSXT (ex B&A) tracks passing over the crossing in the foreground that are now the regular staging location for work train cars and equipment.

MBTA 3247 is a rebuilt GP40-3 that began life as straight GP40 blt. Dec. 1971 as Chessapeake and Ohio 4092. She passed to CSXT and later Ohio Central until being purchased by the MBTA in 2004. She didn't wear her sharp OC burgundy and yellow for long until receiving this variant of T purple and silver. Last run sometime in the later part of 2017, she was already out of service by the time I started here in January of 2018, so to date this is the only time I've seen her move. Currently languishing in Rochester at the MBTA's facility off the MassDOT Cape Main she keeps company with the retired screamers and a few OOS GP40MCs.

Behind is the impressive high line bridge that carries the New Hampshire Route mainline (modern day MBTA Lowell Line) over the former B&A and B&M trackage here just west or south of FX interlocking. This is one of the last remaining pieces of major B&M infrastructure left from that 1931 project that saw the building of a new Boston Engine Terminal and North Station along with four new draw bridges over the Charles and Tower A interlocking to control the terminal trackage and those bridges.

Mäntylä Hospital

The hospital buildings have been abandoned since 2010 when they were examined to be too worse condition to be totally renovated in other words the renovation wouldn’t have been economically viable. This statement meant that over 100 years old heritage of people treatment at the site would come to end.

The oldest buildings at the site were built in the end of 17th century and the newest and the largest one in early 60s. The yellow wooden building served as retirement house and it was the first of its kind in Lappeenranta Finland.

Nowadays the condition of the buildings is very poor. The buildings have faced a lot of vandalism and the most of the windows have been shattered. It seems that the destiny of the buildings is that they will eventually be teared down.

The East Broad Top crew has been had at work with track work over the past several months. Here you can see some new-to-the-railroad ties, the refurbished switches, and some nice and straight trackage. I can't wait to see steam rolling down these lines again!

With dusk approaching, the lights of the Story Bridge become visible.

PV-1 switches cars of cornstarch at Sonoco Products in Holyoke, Mass.

The DM&IR Steelton Switch continues north over the LS&M at South Steelton with four cars back when the Missabe owned this line, but ran far fewer trains than tenant CN.

The Missabe South Dispatcher Keenan has green boards for the 213 as far as Nopeming Jct. along with a track warrant up the Spirit Lake Branch, allowing the crew to tie up at Proctor just after dark on 12/8/02. Consist was a normal looking DM&IR 213, 408, and 203 as the Missabe liked to use one of the regular 7000 hp PRS sets on this move, even if there wasn't much tonnage to move.

After chasing L507 to Saukville, we got lunch and then went to Ackerville for a NB with CN 8898 leading just to shoot it and we then went to Slinger Road where we saw L249 switching Ackerville. L249 would pull to where we were at the crossing a number of times and this was one of them

His name is Night XD

A 3D printer would make this a lot easier... I just haven't had the time to build these crossing pieces (aqua) by hand. I'll hopefully have these assembled by the time Fx Bricks' P40 switches are released so i can also attempt to make 9V-compatible versions.

This mockup was done in Stud.io and is based on BrickTracks' R104 switch files.

Shenandoah Valley 5940 does some switching across Dice's Spring Road in Weyers Cave VA.

Another installment in the small mech series. This time its Switch Fang! I tried incorporating the CCBS pieces in more interesting ways :D Hope you enjoy the build as much as i do :D Build video can be found on my youtube channel youtu.be/fLbU5Wno6h4

Fascinating catch of an ex Baltimore and Ohio GP40. North Carolina Virginia was switching Georgia Pacific. Seen here they are just pulling onto the main line. The locomotive still carries the paint of Arizona and California Railroad which is also a Genesse and Wyoming holding that was formerly part of the Santa Fe Railway. It is now listed as a GP38-3.

CSXT D795-23 has arrived at the interchange with the Gettysburg & Northern and will make a pickup of 2 cars before heading west to Hagerstown. The conductor has just made the cut about 6 cars deep as the engineer pulls ahead to clear the junction switch. October 23, 2019

Fully Charged Live 2021 (aka Fully Charged Outside) was the latest event to be held at the Farnborough International site in Farnborough, Hants. The three-day event hosted a huge selection of electric vehicles including two PSV products. There was also an internal Park & Ride bus service operating using 8 buses over the course of the event with the addition of an occasional trip to Farnborough (Main) railway station.

I visited on the overcast Saturday and returned on the sunny Sunday. For the record, buses seen were:

One of the many great things about short line railroads is that many of them have not replaced these massive station name signs. Class 1 railroads often seem to replace these with smaller signs at either end of the station (or siding). But, not the case here in Holyoke, CO as a westbound manifest actually makes a reverse move to the east by the sign on the main track. If you look beneath the Holyoke sign, you can see the conductor, riding on the rear boxcar, protecting the reverse move back toward the remainder of the train.

Its time to put those thinking lights on and bury my head in the books so rich with knowledge and full of learning. I have been so lifted from the comments you sweet caring people made on my previous photo that i just couldn't resist to upload today! Couldn't thank you all personally but I'm seriously so happy to meet so many wonderful people here. You guys know who you are. The support here really touched me and I'm still here, and will continue to try as this is my outlet and my inspirations come to life through taking this journey. Going to Uni and being a Mum at the same time is hard work 'big sigh' Not sure what i can handle at the moment so will just take things one day at a time.....

Have a wondeful weekend all you lovely Flickr People! :)
