Thermal spraying can be used to deposit metals, cermets (such as WC-Co), ceramics, polymers in layers typically 60 μm to 10 mm thick, for a wide range of engineering applications. Almost any material can be deposited so long as it melts or becomes plastic during the spraying process. Coating using blends of different materials to produce composite or graded coatings are possible. At the substrate surface, the particles form 'splats' or 'platelets' that interlock and build up to form the coating.

Scenes from the Artemis I mission going beyond the Moon and back to Earth.
After its launch on November 16, the Orion spacecraft has been heading toward the Moon on its 25-day Artemis I mission. Orion was launched by the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) rocket at 7:47 CET (06:47 GMT) from launchpad 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.4
The European Service Module is powering Orion, providing propulsion, temperature control, electricity as well as storage and delivery for essential supplies such as fuel, water and air. This first Artemis mission is an uncrewed test mission, putting the spacecraft through its paces preparing to send astronauts forward to the Moon.
The uncrewed mission to learn as much as possible about Orion and its European Service Module’s performance. The primary objectives are to demonstrate Orion’s heat shield on reentry, demonstrate operations and facilities during all mission phases, and retrieve the spacecraft after splashdown.

Ths sky is changing and the glow mixes with the dark clouds still in the sky, reflected on the lake at Colwick country park, Nottingham. It is a mixing of serenity and dark broiling anger.
We are like the clouds changing form reacting to events in our lives but what we are is more than we choose to show and we show more than we aware of for those with the discerning eye.
This photo has it all: the distinctive, immensely tall vertical dorsal fin of a male Orca; the diagnostic gray spotch on the body at the base of the fin; the blow hole; and, best of all, Orca breath!
Now, in my whale book, the Orcas are spouting with enough force to knock a person off his feet. This guy was breathing in dainty puffs.
You don't want to know what I had to do to make the exhalation more visible in this photo. But I assure you no cutting and pasting was involved. I tried something with Photo Shop CS4 that made the exhalation look like the proverbial mushroom-shaped cloud. Not saved.
Elapsed time between "Surfaced Orca I" and "Surfaced Orca II": 32 seconds.
