The Nebraska National Guard supports the Huskers Veterans Day football game, Nov. 11, 2023, at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska National Guard Soldiers and Airmen participated in a variety of events as part of the Huskers annual military appreciation day. The day started with by escorting Huskers mascot, Herbie, in a vintage M8 “Willy’s” Jeep as the team arrived to the stadium. The pre-game began with Master Sgt. Samantha Renner, 155th Air Refueling Wing, singing the National Anthem, while three Nebraska Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopters conducted a flyover. After the flyover, former Husker offensive guard and now Sgt. Chris Long, carried the colors onto the field during the Huskers famed tunnel walk with the entire current football team. Maj. Gen. Craig Strong, Nebraska adjutant general, then performed the official coin toss for the Nebraska vs. Maryland game. At halftime, the Nebraska Army National Guard’s 43rd Army Band performed with the Cornhuskers Marching Band. Following the band’s halftime performance, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen administered the Oath of Enlistment to 30 new Nebraska National Guard Soldiers and Airmen. Spotted this dog only 4months old and kept in a confined space. Coupled with the sticker pasted on the glass panel, its a huge pity to see them 'trapped' in such a small area.
