Often we find the support at very unusual places ... we might not even know the other person so much ... but we get support from them ... there is an intuition which makes us tell all our problems to them ...
To support the documentation of the Hudhud and Alim epics of the Ifugao people, two traditions passed down orally from generation to generation and recognized by UNESCO as masterpieces of the intangible heritage of humanity. The project, which involves the audiovisual recording of chants and their transcription and translation into three languages, builds upon an AFCP project funded in 2007 to support the preservation of the Banawe rice terraces, a World Heritage Site.
The reason for the children supporting the hospice was in memory of Antonia (Toni) Smith who passed away at Sobell back in March.
Toni received care at the hospice from December through to March and her husband Shaun, and daughter, Holly wanted to say thank you for the support she received whilst under our care.
The children from Holly's school (George Barber, Joshua Weeds, Lucas Munday, Ava Weeds, Olivia Munday, and of course Holly herself) decided to repay the kindness by raising money through a range of funfraisers which included a mix of stalls at school, coffee mornings, stands outside their own houses, as well as a dip into Shaun's wallet (with his permission).
They planned and organised the fundraisers themselves and we think they've done a brilliant job.
Thanks to everyone involved and to all who supported their efforts.

This event is driven by a volunteer committee of young professionals working together to assist children and young people with cancer.
Each Colour Ball has a colour theme to brighten up everyone’s lives; this year's was Silver Lining!
Importantly, in the 11 years since its inception, the Colour Ball has raised an incredible $850,000 for the children, young people and families that Redkite supports.

Solano County’s Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) works together with the public to solve financial, legal and the emotional challenges that come with co-parenting. As a department with a difficult task, creating an environment with a positive workplace strategy helped improve their image and reinvigorated the work culture while delivering a welcoming and comfortable space for their clients.
DCSS’s new location, on the 5th floor of the County Administration Building, introduces an improved workflow for staff including a complete open office floor plan with access to natural daylight and integrated technology designed to enable staff to work from any of the collaborative areas. A training room and various sized meeting rooms provide staff dedicated spaces to collaborate and provide continuous staff training. Private interview rooms deliver space for DCSS to consult with clients on sensitive matters. The waiting room incorporates a large wall-length graphic wallcovering representing a “new horizon” emulating a more sophisticated version of a child’s painting. To help further reinforce the mission of the department and carry the design concept throughout, each of the conference spaces have large photographic wall coverings incorporating images of children and parents. The new DCSS environment gives a “fresh start” for both the DCSS staff and the clients they serve.
