Tom knew he was destined for greater things. He was fed up with his kitchen job, day in, day out scraping the ceramic hob whenever the stupid humans in the house had been unattentive (again) and something had boiled over. Something he knew would never happen to him. Didn't they know he was an intelligent, sentient being? In his dreams, he was a fully-fledged robot with superpowers, and a famous, Michelin star-decorated Chef. His robotic swiftness and razor-sharp mind would revolutionise how the world cooked and ate. But here he was, inside a kitchen drawer, waiting for the next "Great Boil-over". As he was about to work himself into a rage of indignity (while his drawer mates sighed, eyes rolling: "Oh no, not another tantrum, Tom, come on!"), he heard the distant voice of one of the humans, and then the drawer opened. "There you are! Great! Come on, I need your help with a photo assignment, it will be fun!" "Finally she recognises my true talents", Tom huffed more to himself. "Well, it's not as if you were doing the scraping job alone, right? Because behind every ceramic hob scraper is a human hand that leads it. Isn't it?", the human said. "No need to be so over-dramatic...", Tom grumbled. But inside, Tom was smiling.

I didn't expect this to be so straightforward. Usually, pareidolia just "happens" but it's difficult when I'm deliberately looking for it. So I rummaged through the kitchen shelves and drawers with little hope of finding something I hadn't already used for a pareidolia-themed photo before, such as the old phone (its underside resembled E.T. but it has long been discarded) or the toaster's crumb tray (that had a surprisingly happy smile). But then I found "him", the unfortunate ceramic hob scraper that (or rather: who) has an even nastier job than the crumb tray and the cutest surprised face. On its flipside, there is the "GS" logo (GS = "Geprüfte Sicherheit", "Tested Safety", a voluntary certification mark for technical equipment), the production number, and the manufacturer's logo which I first misread as "TOM" (wrong glasses) but says "TCM". So "Tom" it was.

To make Tom look more interesting than possible with just the bland steel tone and the hint of rust on the pretty well-used blade aka his "hair", I used my makeshift colour filters to jazz him up a little and enhance the robot look.

A first single test shot already looked nice but since an image like this works best with all-over sharpness, I did in-camera stacking (15 Raw files combined in Helicon Focus, method B, R 8, S4). Size info: Tom is 4,5 cm/1,77 inches at his widest.

HMM, Everyone!

My son spotted this healthy, young bull moose up on a hill at the south end of Maligne Lake. I managed to take a couple of decent photos of him posing on the hill. Then, for the next couple of hours, we patiently watched the bull and his starter harem of one cow, as they grazed.

We were lucky enough to have them mostly to ourselves, although a couple of photographers came and went. Then, the inevitable crush of intolerable tourists showed up, along with a few more photographers, some looking and acting quite professional.

My son is blessed with infinite patience... I say it is his superpower. We continued to watch the moose, just inside the tree line and managed to outlast the badly acting tourists. A few of us photographers shared the same site line and then it is just a matter of waiting for an opportunity. I'm so lucky my son doesn't mind when I do this to him and finally, when everyone else was gone or tired of holding their 600 mm lenses, the bull lifted his head and gave me this one pose.

I think of all the photos I took that day, this is my favorite because we outlasted almost everyone else and it was as if the moose rewarded me with one final shot. I said 'thanks' as always and we were on our way to Medicine Lake. I hope the young bull is successful with his mate and maybe even rounds up another one or two during this rutting season.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful sensitive human being. The world did not see things the way she did. She felt things deeply. She felt everyone’s sadness. But little did she know it was her superpower. The power to rise above the darkness and help others do the same. The call her an Empath. – Jane Lightworker

Sovereign nations are obsolete. All forms of government are out of date. They lag behind technological development and modern ideas, such as Network states. These Network states will “transcend” nations. They will “regenerate the earth.” A variety of progressive ideas make up the concept of the Network state. These ideas form a dream of a new society. The Network state is a parallel society that will transform our world. It’s a “radical roadmap to replace democracy,” to “reshape society.” It’s a blueprint for the future. “The next Global superpower will be a Network state!” Corporations and billionaires are buying up land with the idea of forming independent countries (Network states) within sovereign countries. They want to establish their own governance. Divide and conquer! They want to operate outside the reach of government laws and oversight. They want to abolish the copyright system. They want to evade taxation. “We anticipate that the apparently solid power of nation-states currently devoted to mass democracy will splinter in tens of thousands of fragments into a system more reminiscent of the medieval period than the modern industrial age.” Like parasites, these Network states will kill the host country. Then we will enter the age of techno-feudalism, “the age of super-monopolies and super-exploitation.” The rich are playing a chess game for power. The peasants are but pawns.

They want to be kings of their Network states! Their feudal lands will be populated by peasants. People from around the world will migrate to them. Open borders! Quick, rubber-stamp all those work visas from the third world! The corporations and billionaires will have a constant flow of cheap slave labour. This system will “transition us beyond the confines of socialism and capitalism.” They don’t want socialist and capitalist governments impeding their ability to make money with roadblocks or red tape. They call their system Cosmo-localism. Woohoo! Cosmo-slavery! It’s a “post-capitalist” system. It “can be summarized with the acronym ‘DGML,’ or design globally and manufacture locally.” You got it, Network states are giant factories. Giant sweatshops! Network states will network with each other around the world. They sound a lot like the gulags. They are worldwide islands of slave labour camps. Or you could just call them 15-minute cities.

Revelation 17:12-13 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the Beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the Beast.”

Bow to the techno-feudal king, the man of the hour, the Beast! His Cosmo-slave system will require a biometric ID-chip. The Beast, with his ten horns, will trample the whole earth. He will crush his subjects underfoot with war, famine, and plague. The gulags of hell are ever-increasing; its captives are in torment every hour.

A little clunky on recovering the sky but it is a start. Feel like I have a superpower!

I don't want to be anything other than what I've been trying to be lately

All I have to do is think of me and have peace of mind

I'm tired of looking 'round rooms wondering what I gotta do

Or who I'm supposed to be

I don't want to be anything other than ME

Horseshoe Falls in Tasmania's Mount Field National Park - taken last month. I only got a couple of images of this waterfall because the mist was so thick it made the front of the lens all wet in just a few moments.

This is the first upload on my new computer. We'll call it a supercomputer because that's how it feels right now ... I have been using the same workhorse for years now and for the last year or so it has been struggling and crashing often enough for me to get worried. So I ordered a computer that will see me out for a few years. Processing this image in Photoshop and Nik Software was so easy with absolutely no lag. Even the process of turning on my old computer could take around 30 minutes and would cancel out my early morning energy. This one just springs into life in a matter of seconds thanks to its i9 processor. Everything is ... well faster. A lot faster.

I remember this feeling well - i'll leave the image first uploaded with my last computer in the comments. So here's to increased productivity and a new era.

His superpower is simply by being cute. When he is in the area all he needs to do to earn his next meal us simply sit there. People will just throw food at him. If I had this power, I would sit outside Taco Bell and be 1000 pounds in a week.

Wild dogs have a superpower, they can levitate. These guys are very excitable. I watched them jumping up when they saw something exciting, like a hyena coming too close, prey, or simply to meet a returning pack member. After a nap they would all excitedly greet each other, milling around and often jumping over each other. Sometimes, when not quite running, they would somehow be airborne. Point of View is a 2006 landmark public sculpture in bronze by James A. West, with the city of Pittsburgh in the background.

ARTIST DIALOGUE:

“POINT OF VIEW is an iconic piece with timeless relevance which truly embodies my ‘Art as Dialogue’ vision statement. Both literally and figuratively, there is quite a lot happening in this piece. POINT OF VIEW memorializes a meeting between two prominent historical figures who fought on opposite sides of the French and Indian War – a worldwide conflict between two superpowers, England and France – and who put their differences aside for the greater good of all. As I created this sculpture, I intentionally wanted both figures to be viewed as equals. Their heads are at the same elevation. They are faced eye-to-eye. Guyasuta sits with his back against the west. Washington keeps his gaze toward that direction in deference to the westward push by colonists. They are listening to each other. They are having civil dialogue and putting their differences aside. That’s the story. That’s the lesson for us all, then and now.”

"As women, we have superpowers. We are sisters. We are healers. We are mothers. We are goddess warriors."

Yesterday morning I was lamenting how short fall always feels. Last night we had our first snow in NWA 😆. Time keeps on trucking no matter how much we want it to slow down. I think that's one of the beautiful parts of photography. It gives us the ability to freeze time for moments here and there and that's kind of a cool superpower to me.

In flower terms, it corresponds to this beautiful and delicate daisy's ability to persevere and stand upright (and look amazingly good while doing it) despite days with little to no sun and nights with temperatures around or below freezing.

In relation to humans, resilience describes the ability of people or communities to survive difficult life situations such as crises or disasters without permanent impairment.

Resilience is a special power of the psyche to withstand stress - a distinctively courageous and life-affirming attitude. And it's something we all carry within us. So you don't have to learn it somewhere, you just have to train this skill. Whether we always look astonishingly good as our daisy is in the eye of the beholder. So there is no guarantee for that.

And so I wish you access to your resilience this week. No matter whether you need it or not.

Look within yourself and perceive this superpower that you were born with. Take it and be grateful for it. Because gratitude is an important part of resilience.

Dafür gibt es also keine Garantie.

a little about this character.

in the past Suzu is a five-tailed demon kitsune, why in the past? because for his sins he was executed and reborn as an ordinary person, and the present life is his last life, if he did not commit sins, and remained kitsune, he could be reborn.

He does not have any superpowers and memories of the past, even the demons do not know about his past origin

and now he is an ordinary person like everyone else

The cooler weather has made my office at work a little chilly. Pips found a small spot next to Milkshake that was warm and claimed her spot. Milkshake however with her superpowers, took an oath to never give in to the likes of a cat. She got up and went to another pillow leaving Pips sadly alone. :(

One of these monarchs transformed his realm into a flourishing superpower , renowned for its wealth, scholarship, and cultural influence. His reign was widely admired, and his legacy endured for centuries. The other, a visionary dreamer, struggled with political realities and finances, ultimately losing his crown under tragic and mysterious circumstances. Today, however, his romantic castles remain iconic landmarks, attracting millions of visitors from around the world...
