A surfer finishes his day with a walk through golden light possibly reflecting on his rad rides.

The brilliance of sunset, casting light on Virga clouds -- lights up the sky in a beautiful array of pastel colours.

The atmospheric conditions of low cloud, mist and fog add to the composition created by Mother Nature herself.

In meteorology, a virga, also called a dry storm, is an observable streak or shaft of precipitation falling from a cloud that evaporates or sublimates before reaching the ground. A shaft of precipitation that does not evaporate before reaching the ground is a precipitation shaft. At high altitudes the precipitation falls mainly as ice crystals before melting and finally evaporating; this is often due to compressional heating, because the air pressure increases closer to the ground. It is very common in deserts and temperate climates. In North America, it is commonly seen in the Western United States and the Canadian Prairies. It is also very common in the Middle East, Australia, and North Africa.

I took this stunning photograph of Lake Erie during a tranquil evening. The sky was painted with hues of blue and gold, with streaks of clouds creating a dramatic contrast against the calm waters below. The gentle reflections on the lake's surface enhanced the peaceful ambiance, making it a perfect moment of nature's quiet splendor.

A beautiful reflection photograph just following a rain storm in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

The sun had just started to set following a rain storm and the colours and reflections looked beautiful. When the small fishing boat came into the frame I thought it was worth a snap.

High-resolution image of the tourist jetty at Lake Starnberg, photographed at sunset. The wooden pier with flagpoles produces clear linear reflections on the water surface. Sky shows scattered evening clouds with low ambient light. The calm water carries minor ripples. Due to the high resolution, certain details — such as a rowing boat partly hidden behind the second flag — are only visible when viewed at 1:1 scale.

I like the layers in this photo (water, road levels, forest and sky) and the zig-zag pattern of the road paths.

Last light over the river Mersey down Wigg Island in Runcorn Cheshire. The low tide reveals the old ruins of old boats left to rot in the 1900's.

Unknown pond and a colorful sunset, as we settled down for an evening on Douglas Island.

One of those stupidly coloured skys that you just could have any composition and they would look good. I was surprised I managed to get anything as it was literally only about 5 mins.

A serene view of Little Venice in Mykonos during golden hour. The photo showcases the iconic white buildings with colorful balconies directly at the water's edge, reflecting the soft light.

Same view as this morning, now with more snow and a sunset reflection.

I went for a walk while it was snowing today and took a lot of photos, and then some snowflakes as well, but haven't sorted them out yet. Stay tuned...

A moody end to the day on Porthmeor Beach St Ives Cornwall,

A snapshot from an early spring walk in Haukilahti, Espoo. Taken just as the sun was slipping behind the horizon. captured with the newly aquired Canon 1D X Mark II, during a peaceful evening, a scene made more meaningful by the company I shared it with. The air was still, the boats lined up quietly, and everything just felt right. It wasn’t dramatic or loud, just one of those calm, happy moments you want to keep.

Sunset in Chichester Harbour

This was taken in front on my home when I lived in Vero Beach, FL

i guess it's time to go back to our regular programming of Chicagoscapes and Landscapes...this was the first sunset i shot after coming back from a 2 week vacation...this was taken at the Burnham Marina in the South Loop of the city...one way of capturing a more dramatic sunset is by doing a longer exposure and using an ND filter to be able to set the exposure to at least 10 seconds or longer...in this frame, by using the ND 10 stop filter, i was able to expose this for a good 30 seconds, thus eliminating the wavy, choppy waters, smoothing it out like a mirror and also at the same time gather more light in creating a more dramatic sunset tone...no processing was done except for straightening the frame a little bit...hope you guys like this one...pls. “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” - Aaron Siskin

Nice to be back. We enjoyed holiday and I will try to catch up with your posts. Still lots of editing to do on holiday pics but will post soon.

I took this pic of Findhorn just before we went away. When I arrived the tide was out and the boat in the image was high and dry on the beach. I put my camera bag etc on the boat and waited for the sunset. The tide comes in really quickly here and I just had time to take the shot and make for shore with my tripod and camera. Guess what..!! Camera bag and lenses were still on boat, which was now floating out on the tide. Had to make a mad dash...knee deep in water to retrieve gear...hence the title..."memorable sunset."
