I had the pleasure of hosting David Talley and Triston Lane at my house in San Diego this weekend. I took them to some of my favorite photo beaches down here for some unforgettable adventures. All in all there was little sleeping and a lot of exploring.
This particular photo day was a little hectic...amazingly we managed to squeeze in three separately directed shoots in the span of 30 minutes before the sun completely disappeared. We dragged about 30 lbs of gear and props down a cliff to get to the beach to boot.
I was the last to shoot my photo, but I'm happy it ended up that way. I had about 10 minutes to light candles and shoot before I ran out of light. We hiked back up the cliff, exhausted and sweaty, in near darkness. It was so worth it. :)

Fun day surfing with an old friend, then making photos after. These days are classic surfing days at Sunset Cliffs--warm, sunny, no wind, fun waves. Perfect.
--EDIT-- Whenever I edit a photo late at night, I should wait until the next morning before posting. This is a re-edit from a photo I posted last night and deleted this morning after looking at it and realizing it needed to be brightened up.

Part of Sunset Cliffs, San Diego County. You can see rock layers, and some other interesting features, such as the crack that has opened up between the outer rock and that attached to the land. Also, there is an almost spherical black object, out on top of the outer rock. I have no idea what that's all about. There's another such object, about half covered by the surf. There's a seagull flying by, just above the surf which is showing in the upper left.
Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

August 11, 2008, the wedding of Jason and Roberto @ Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, California. These images were shot with a Kodak Duaflex with TTV technology.
At Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, Three exposures blended manually in photoshop to handle the dynamic range.
Here's another picture from beautiful Sunset Cliffs Nature Park on Point Loma in San Diego, California. The sunset was truly spectacular and the clouds participated in the beauty until the sun ended up setting behind the clouds instead of the horizon, unfortunately. But I grabbed some good shots prior to the cloudset.
Fading light at Sunset Cliffs.
During low tide I saw an interesting sphere sitting atop a rock shelf at Sunset Cliffs. Made me think of a globe, a black pearl, or in the spirit of the current Star Wars sequel the Death Star. Anyhow, thought it was interesting enough to clamber down some rocks to get a closer look.
Sunset Cliffs is a scenic and popular place for people to go to watch a sunset. Just need be alert and careful as you get close to the edge as its a steep drop down in certain places. While I was in San Diego I heard on the news about someone who was distracted looking at his phone and tragically fell to his death.
Shot at Sunset Cliffs National Park in San Diego, CA. This was my first visit to Sunset Cliffs NP and I had a hard time finding good comps. For one thing there were so many people there that it was almost impossible to get a shot without someone walking into your frame. So I shot this 1 minute exposure partly because I thought it would look cool, but also because it would blur some of the people out and I could clone the rest out later on. But my clone job actually made it look worse so I decided to leave the people in as "ghosts". Anyway I'll probably reshoot this again on a weekday when it's less crowded.
