Lake Chiemsee, the so-called Bavarian Sea, is a popular recreation area southeast of Munich, year-round. But in the early morning or evening hours you can be lucky to enjoy such solitude and tranquillity. Especially in winter. This picture is taken in Chieming, at the east shore of the lake. You can still see big floats of ice on the lake and in the background the Bavarian Alps.

Finally captured that elusive sunset that's been escaping me this summer. Well, frankly, I haven't been out with my camera as often as I'd like, and when I have, it's rarely good light, but last night I finally lucked out. I was at a BBQ hanging out with a few friends and storms were intermittently passing overhead, so I bailed a few minutes early to try to catch the tail end of it. Boy am I glad I packed my gear with me.
Headed to Halibut Point State Park, took a seat on the boulders along the shore, and waited for the show to begin. This was the last storm cloud passing through the area, and it lit up incredibly as the sun ducked behind a hazy bank on the horizon. Very cool.
Explored. :)
So I guess I'm becoming a bit more psychotic when it comes to trying to get the shots I want. In this particular instance, I found myself on the wrong side of the Merced river as sunset was approaching. Realizing that all of the color and reflections were going to be on the other side, I thought about it for 2 minutes, and then waded in through water that was about 3 feet deep in order to set up my next shot on the opposite side. I thought I might lose a couple of toes from frostbite as the water was FREEZING, but I knew it was my last set of shots for the day, and I can spare a couple of toes if it means gaining a sunset in Yosemite. (I mean....what's a couple toes?)
This particular sunset came together rather quickly and I was glad I took a chance on missing another shot of the Horsetail Falls. While I was taking this particular shot, almost every other camera in the park was pointed at Horsetail which by that point was completely covered in clouds. I gambled and decided that it looked like we might get some color, and just before we lost the sun, the area above the Cathedral Rocks lit up and I spent another 15 minutes shooting while not being able to feel my toes.

I took this image from my front yard. Watching tv from the lounge room Sunday evening i peered out the window to see a sky that had me reaching for the Fuji and bolting to the best position i could find capturing this before it changed. I was limited for time and space given i was in the front yard surrounded by trees and stobie polls but none the less i was pleased with the result. The colours you see here is exactly how it was. No PS needed The Foxtel cable you see running under the tree gives it that suburban feel ;) lol
In the distance the clouds almost looked like another city to me for some reason. Another beautiful Hawaiian sunset :)
