Walked for half an hour on an almost deserted beach, then jumped over rocks for another half hour to reach this dilapidated light house. Slipped almost 10 12 times and puntured my toe. Didnt get the pic that i wanted, but got the pic that i needed :D A special one indeed !!

Sunset at Beverly Beach State Park in Oregon. Numerous wildfires around the state cause interesting hues.
I read in the newspaper that the sunflowers on the Experimental Farm in Ottawa were in bloom. Nature photography seems to be all about timing. I arrived at the plot where I thought they would be. It was early evening and the flowers were backlit which was great but there were not many in full bloom so I decided that I would return and take more another day. On my first visit I took mostly close-ups of single flowers, so on my second visit I wanted to try to get more in my frame and play with the setting light. This patch of sunflowers is located in a small fenced in area which made it hard to work with a tripod so I left it at home. That was an unfortunate decision when the sun started to set. But I did manage to take this of the sunset over the sunflowers handheld.

My first sight of Half Dome and Clouds Rest from Olmsted point was that of sheer elation. To see this vast glacier-carved canyon dropping down from below me, anchored on one side by the grand granite facade of Clouds Rest and the not-frequently-seen face of Half Dome made my jaw drop.
It was my first trip to the High Sierras of Yosemite and to see such magnificent beauty from the window of my car just seemed epic.
Fast forward 4 years later, my jaw still drops as I come around the corner and get the classic view into Olmsted point. The memories, seemingly freshly etched in my mind, just get reinforced everytime I see this.
The only difference this time: I got to see an epic sunset; the sky turned into colors that I had never seen before. Seemingly brown clouds that hung around low in the horizon just a few minutes before took on the wildest shades of orange and pink. I truly vished I was at Glacier Point seeing this magnificent color developing in the sky.
Nevertheless, this was my best attempt on a freezing winter evening in the High Sierras. A multiple explosure blend from bracketed images was needed to get some shadow details.

Not a bad sunset, is it? I didn't know what the construction work was for, but I have since learned they're building a new bridge across the water.
I love discussing photography by the way. But I find discussions about photography tend to actually be discussions about cameras. What are your thoughts on this? I recently wrote on it here.
