Sunset, birds enjoy the view too, You had to be there looking at it , when you see birds all lined up in row on tree limbs and getting ready for the night to come in . I makes you smile. They are roosting for the night they won't go anywhere until morning
We were treated to an amazing sunset over our village this evening so I rushed out with my camera…..

My first sight of Half Dome and Clouds Rest from Olmsted point was that of sheer elation. To see this vast glacier-carved canyon dropping down from below me, anchored on one side by the grand granite facade of Clouds Rest and the not-frequently-seen face of Half Dome made my jaw drop.
It was my first trip to the High Sierras of Yosemite and to see such magnificent beauty from the window of my car just seemed epic.
Fast forward 4 years later, my jaw still drops as I come around the corner and get the classic view into Olmsted point. The memories, seemingly freshly etched in my mind, just get reinforced everytime I see this.
The only difference this time: I got to see an epic sunset; the sky turned into colors that I had never seen before. Seemingly brown clouds that hung around low in the horizon just a few minutes before took on the wildest shades of orange and pink. I truly vished I was at Glacier Point seeing this magnificent color developing in the sky.
Nevertheless, this was my best attempt on a freezing winter evening in the High Sierras. A multiple explosure blend from bracketed images was needed to get some shadow details.

again what was going on outside was better'n what was on tv - changing every moment - "look at it now!" was oft heard.

A sunset over Södermalm in Stockholm. The evening was nice but the clouds didn't really work to my advantage, as I recall.
Sunset or sundown is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon in the west as a result of Earth's rotation.
The time of sunset is defined in astronomy as the moment when the trailing edge of the Sun's disk disappears below the horizon in the west. The ray path of light from the setting Sun is highly distorted near the horizon because of atmospheric refraction, making the sunset appear to occur when the Sun’s disk is already about one diameter below the horizon. Sunset is distinct from dusk, which is the moment at which darkness falls, which occurs when the Sun is approximately eighteen degrees below the horizon. The period between sunset and dusk is called twilight.
Locations north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle experience no sunset or sunrise at least one day of the year, when the polar day or the polar night persist continuously for 24 hours.
Sunset creates unique atmospheric conditions such as the often intense orange and red colors of the Sun and the surrounding sky.
I met up with Shaun again last night and headed up to Stowes Hill and the Cheesewring. To say it was a wee bit on the chilly side was an understatement with a glacially cold wind whipping around the hill, and I was thankful that I still had my hat and gloves in my pocket from winter! Unfortunately most of the lovely fluffy clouds that had been there earlier in the evening had moved on, but it was still nice to get out.
Came across this one again, and felt like posting it. It's from the same sunset as the pic below (in comments), as I zoomed out to capture some of the lavender and peach hues in the clouds over my head. Here is why you should never leave home without a camera!
Nestled in one of the many coves in Bullfrog Bay, a houseboat is draped in the golden light of a sunset made more dramatic by the cloudy remnants of unsettled weather earlier in the afternoon.
