Sunset at Rosemarkie, the view from the cottage where I stayed, and in time honored fashion the end of my photos from Inverness for this year.
Industrial Sunset
A sunset over the Fawley Oil Refinery. The flames from the tall chimneys are where impurities are burnt off as part of the processing.
The puff or orange flame, about a third in from the left indicates when that happens.
The dozens of various chimneys hint at the complexity of the operations and processes at the Refinery.
Emissions are very strictly controlled from the Refinery as it is on the edge of the New Forest National Park.

If you were out and about on Friday evening in SE Michigan, then you saw what could have been the most spectacular sunset of the year, in my opinion.
As the sun went down, the more dramatic and beautiful color changes there were in the sky and clouds.
I happened to be on Belle Isle at the time and people were pulling over left and right to take pictures! What an amazingly beautiful night it was! The sun seemed to be taking it's time going down, too.... as if it were showing off, lol. ^_^
This photo here is from early on, though I did capture the night sky light show as the night progressed. =)
A photo from later on can be seen on my Facebook page:
Have a wonderful day! =)
Nearly a week of Grey clouds and flat light, rain and sogginess! I was starting to think my photography was over, then, tonight, whilst being grumpy and miserable I spotted a small gap in the clouds from my office window, and there low and behold was the setting sun, slowly lighting the underside of the storm clouds with its warm light glinting on the puddles of rain water, that have become a garden feature of late.
So, not having photographed a sunset in a while, and have absolutely no interesting foreground for several miles, and the puddles in the garden didn't cut it!
I jumped in the car drove up the road and found a soggy farmers field with accompanying mud and an outcropping of cowslip or if incorrect, some semi-interesting plant life that hadn't drowned just as the sun was setting.
Now this image won't win any awards, and it's yet another cliche sunset, but it's given me hope! So that's alright by me.
Beautiful sunset i got to see this morning when i woke up. What a wonderful sight to see after a long night of rest.
