A very colourful sunset tonight at Poole Harbour, Dorset.
The harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world
with an area of approximately 36 km2 (14 sq mi).
Apart from the channels, it is also very shallow with an average depth of just 48 cm.
On the left is Brownsea Island, the largest island within the harbour which is owned by the National Trust.

Happy New Year Everybody! I hope it not to late to say that. I've had a busy week spending two days on Baker, two days on Rainier, and two days on the Oregon coast. Its been a little spendy but great to get out. Hope everybody had a cool 2011 and has even a better 2012.

Not one of Iceland's iconic locations but when the roads from 5km in either direction of the hotel are closed due to extreme weather and you only have 10km of road open, you have to make the best of a bad job but having driven down this glorious long road to this scene, the sun started setting so we pulled up and grabbed our cameras. Ten minutes before we were assisting a group of German tourists by removing banked up snow from under their Skoda Yeti when they tried to drive in 15" snow. It seems that Yeti's are not that good making their way through the snow after all, lol.

The pinnacles at Phillip Island are well known and about an hours walk from the nearest car park. i wasn't quite prepared for the 15 photographers all juggling positions and trying to avoid getting in each others shot. This was my first visit here and it is a truly amazing location with rocks dating back 400 million years.

As the veil of clouds blanket the sky, the eternal sun broils one last fiery breath. A mighty breeze blows through the dunes, over the sand and into my face.
