Nevada sunray, Enceliopsis nudicaulis var. nudicaulis, California, White Mountains, McAfee Creek, Fishlake Valley drainage, elevation 1690 m (5545 ft).
This tidy member of the sunflower family is found nearly throughout Nevada and the Great Basin desert of the western United States, extending shortly into the adjacent northern Mojave Desert, Colorado Plateau of Utah and northern Arizona, and Snake River plains of southern Idaho. It seems to have a strong preference for dry barren calcareous soils of various textures from rocky to mostly clay, below about 2100 meters (6900 feet) elevation. The substrate here is steep scree of decaying carbonate outcrops.
Also identifiable in this image are Nevada Mormon tea (Ephedra nevadensis) and cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum).

Seeing a clear sky at night and realizing the possibility of mist I could not resist to go to the posbank once more before going to work. Comments and critics are more than welcome.

The museum's cat sunbathing in the last rays of that November day, on the terrace of San Martino, Napoli.
Really dumb idea. A simple look at the satellite would have tipped me off to this dazzling array of sunrays shining through a distant line of small thunderstorms. But hell no, I picked this time to go to Walmart. I mean, no time is a good time to go to Walmart, really, but why layer the pain upon myself? And I don’t recall getting anything that couldn’t wait! I suppose the only saving grace here is the iconic silhouette of the majestic Arnold H2O tower. On second thought, there is no saving grace. It was still a mind numbing, soul stealing trip to Walmart, and I was most surely and dreadfully running high on serious HUA this evening.
