Part of my time in Somerset was spent strolling around, in awe of the countryside. Here is an image taken around midmorning, the sun already quite high in the sky, with the sunrays coming though the tree and hitting the last of the mist. Images like this remind me landscape photography isn't always about the wide angles and vast scenery but the hidden details within those scenes that sometimes go amiss.
I captured this shot at sunset of sunrays against dark clouds and photographers' shadows during a photo workshop at Bosque del Apache.

A late descent from our campsite in the Mamores left us relatively high up above Loch Leven as sunset approached. We were fortunate to witness this light show.

This jackdaw, already in a pair (for life), visits cavities where it could make its nest. It is interested in a nearby tree cavity that is also coveted by a pair of European rollers.
Ce choucas, déjà en couple (pour la vie), visite les cavités où il pourrait faire son nid. Il s'intéresse à une cavité dans un arbre tout proche qui est aussi convoitée par un couple de rolliers d'Europe.
These photos taken in the Waipoua Forest were taken early evening so I couldn't get any good shots.
The photo were taken back in March 2012. I am just catching up with them. I had started to put up our trip to Northland but for some reason never got them all up.
