We've been getting lots of clouds lately, and it's been raining all around us, but we remain dry here. They say dry is good for the cotton at this stage, so I suppose we shouldn't complain. We can always water the garden, but I'd sure hate to see the cotton crop ruined.
Dendrobium Gatton Sunray is an orchid hybrid which was registered in 1919, and was awarded an FCC/RHS, which is the highest award an orchid can receive for quality , in accordance with the set judging rules. Today 99 years later it is still commonly grown because of it's spectacular flowers and it's ability to grow into one of the largest cultured orchids available. Gatton Sunray has two species in it's breeding. The small growing Dendrobium chrysotoxum with it's wonderful golden flowers and the much larger Dendrobium pulchellum ( formerly dalhousianum), with pale pink flowers and dark purple spotted lip, which was used twice. My plant is at it's biggest size ever being 1.5 metres high.

Taken from a balcony of my hotel in Jamaica (beaches, sandy bay, Negril - highly recommended) Was taking a series of shots of the rising sun and this one captured, the sun, sea, yacht in the background, banana boat in the middle and beautfiul palm trees in the foreground... The balcony ceiling ledge acted almsot like a lens hood and just allowed my camera to pick up the sun rays rather than being blinded by glare... All in all I think it came out pretty well - the sepia one looks just as stunning..
