I had seen a raccoon twice in the same week, at both extremities of the property, far away from the house.
My third encounter began when I saw him here at the porch door while I was preparing supper. I did not know that my reputation as a chef had spread from the human grapevine to the wild critters of my new community (PS, joke. Critters could taste my cooking only at the community dump).
It is possible that he was drawn near the house by the bird feeders. One had been on the ground a couple of times but that could have been caused by the frequently visiting deer or the huge winds that characterize this winter.
During this visit our cats came right to the windows and neither they nor he got overly excited. The whole incident was bizarre and fun.

A phone shot whilst looking for the elusive Hare. Early morning sunrays penetrating the low hanging mist on a cold morning.
This beautiful cheetah mother, Neema, (Acinonyx jubatus) has successfully raised three of her original litter of four cubs.
Having three young cubs to feed she has to hunt daily as the cubs are yet to begin hunting and still very young, to be left on their own.
Neema and her cubs on the prowl was captured during a photography safari on an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.
