Something from my morning run.

“Subtlety may deceive you; integrity never will.” ~Oliver Goldsmith

Happy birthday to my friend Patricia. She is so good at subtle textures that I made this one just for her. Patricia, I can think of lots of reasons to celebrate the day. I hope that at least one of them brings you happiness.

Have a look at her terrific photos. here

Skeletal dead standing tree above the hamlet of Buxworth in the Dark Peak of Derbyshire. A recent snow shower had subtly picked out the form of it's branches. The Dark Peak was aptly named that day...

A beautiful subtle tranquil sunrise over Loch Leven on Scotland's West Coast captured in a 13 shot stitched panorama to do justice to the amazing vista I saw. At 14785 pixels wide this could be printed out huge, over 8 feet long, possibly even longer!

The snow capped peaks of Beinn na Carilich and Meall an Doire Dharauch in the distance have long shadows cast across them by the early morning sun.

This is the car that I had a photoshoot with. He's made some changes to his car including the stripe, the wheels, and the white superleggera text on the side.

Una composizione molto bella, romantica ed elegante. La bella ragazza è l'anima di questa immagine, ma è stupendo anche lo sfondo di teneui nebbie e sfumature arancio.

We all have subtle differences - shape, colour, size and so on. In time, we begin to pair off with like-minded souls. But nature sometimes sees it fit to leave a single creature, through no fault of its own, alone.

Photography is literally drawing with light. It's light that shapes the picture, gives it color, gives it character. I'd describe it but how do you explain something so subtle so sublime. You can only hope to recognize it, capture it and display it, in the hopes that others can see, can understand, can appreciate

Only subtle changes indicate that this SD50 is no longer identified by its original owner's reporting marks. Without a number change required to fit it into the CSX numbering scheme, this C&O SD50 requires a second look to confirm that it has received one of the better CSX "patch jobs", as seen here in Conrail's Saucon Yard near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The light was really poor this day - very flat. However, it allowed for great crontrasts in the landscape as the sky was the same as the land!

Smaller spillways have so much charm. They are carefree and tend to not show off very much. Often, they remain hidden from most sets of eyes, except mine. I give them their due and I always come away happier to have spent a few hours here. That is the pull of the Sol Duc forest for me.
