I finally managed to get out with my camera yesterday evening. I was hoping for a really good sunset with lots of colour as there was a fair amount of cloud at home.

I headed off to Cropston Reservoir, as I had taken a few lovely shots there this time last year. However when I got there most of the cloud had disappeared and it was a fairly "flat" sky, with not very much variation in the colouring.

Thank you for looking and for all your comments and favourites during 2013.

How to cross the eyes to see this 3D? Don't think too much, the stereo illusion in this pair isn't very logical, but it's there.

Christmas Day River Dart Dittisham South Hams Devon.

"Ramblings"

Christmas eve very calm and misty weather conditions forecasts locally for christmas morning got my attention so I made sure my kit bag and wellies etc were ready to go if the forecast came good.

Dittisham on the dart being my intended morning photography location with a short drive from home along with the parking situated right on the riverside is a welcome bonus.

As mentioned in my misty morning session that I uploaded on flickr back in early may this year in the right weather conditions dittisham in my view never fails to deliver pleasing riverscape images.

I certainly made the most of it working the area at a relaxed pace happly filling my memory card and you could say I was proper "milking it!"

If this had been a normal working week I would not have had the opportunity to get an early morning photo session in and being that it was christmas morning it did feel just that little bit special spending a couple of very enjoyable hours with the camera along the lazy river dart.

A white cosmos this time, in the early morning light. Another crazy work week, will catch up w/all your streams later this evening. Have a great week! :)

A remarkably unremarkable bird. It has a subtle beauty and a unique song that enables one to find these when they are singing. If they aren't singing, they blend into grasslands and sagebrush. They live in arid country and inhabit a lot of the Great Basin of the United States. This one was photographed at the edge of this species western limit.

Subtle beauty is underrated in my opinion. The sweetness of inner beauty is definitely overlooked. Sure, people give lip service to inner beauty but who really strives to cultivate it?

Banksia menziesii, commonly known as firewood banksia, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Banksia. It is a gnarled tree up to 10 m tall, or a lower spreading 1–3 m shrub in the more northern parts of its range.

A Black Phoebe perches calmly on a branch, its dark plumage contrasting against a softly blurred background of color and light. This small flycatcher, common across the western United States and into Central America, is often found near water, darting out to catch insects in midair. Here, the bird rests in a quiet moment, framed by painterly bokeh that softens the scene into a study of balance and simplicity.

On a recent trip to Florida, the hotel we stayed at had a small pond behind it.

Much to my surprise one morning I opened the curtains to the patio and saw a man in one of the adjacent rooms feeding a bunch of ducks. When I grabbed my camera and opened the door to step outside and get a few shots, they heard the door slide open and raced over - waddling in super sonic duck speed - no doubt in hopes of getting another free handout.

Sadly I had nothing to offer so they hurried back over to where the man stood waiting patiently for them to return.

An image I took on Father's Day during a family walk up to Captain Cook's Monument, North Yorks. I'm still test driving my Reality So Subtle 6x12 so this iPhone pic will serve as a record until I develop the roll of film.

I love the mountain biker heading from the monument. If I recall correctly I managed to capture a couple map reading nearing the tree between the posts whilst the pinhole was making an exposure ;-)
