seen in Richmond in front of the Aji Toro Bistro. We have eaten here often but the last time were there, the loud music drove me crazy. Mostly young people work here and eat here so I now have to find a new sushi place in Richmond with good food and a more subtle ambiance :)

How to cross the eyes to see this 3D? Don't think too much, the stereo illusion in this pair isn't very logical, but it's there.

Christmas Day River Dart Dittisham South Hams Devon.

"Ramblings"

Christmas eve very calm and misty weather conditions forecasts locally for christmas morning got my attention so I made sure my kit bag and wellies etc were ready to go if the forecast came good.

Dittisham on the dart being my intended morning photography location with a short drive from home along with the parking situated right on the riverside is a welcome bonus.

As mentioned in my misty morning session that I uploaded on flickr back in early may this year in the right weather conditions dittisham in my view never fails to deliver pleasing riverscape images.

I certainly made the most of it working the area at a relaxed pace happly filling my memory card and you could say I was proper "milking it!"

If this had been a normal working week I would not have had the opportunity to get an early morning photo session in and being that it was christmas morning it did feel just that little bit special spending a couple of very enjoyable hours with the camera along the lazy river dart.

A white cosmos this time, in the early morning light. Another crazy work week, will catch up w/all your streams later this evening. Have a great week! :)

Autumn Fern on Green Background

Chesterfield County, Virginia

The landscaper who suggested several years ago that we include some ferns in front of our north-facing house said the autumn fern takes its name from the fact that fronds open in spring showing colors associated with autumn, rather than a purer or lighter green.

To make the fronds as distinct from the green background (mostly grass, as this was shot from above the ferns) as I could, while retaining a natural look, I used shallow depth of field (my crop-sensor camera with telephone zoom at 194mm gave an effective focal length of 310mm). This allowed the fern to stand out, but I wanted greater separation; happily, the background color differs enough from the fern that a Lightroom brush with auto-mask turned on allowed me to darken exposure of the background (I settled on about a half-stop differential). With a bit of gloss on the fronds, despite being in the shade, I used a polarizer; because there was a breeze, I boosted ISO and used servo autofocus.

Have been on and off from flickr a little but trying to catch up as always :-).

This time I have something different to upload, different in ways that I went out of my usual way of clicking photos. This was the first time I was out on street with the camera and approached someone asking for their permission to click, which was really enriching. She was selling some toys on one of the red light signals in Hyderabad, India. I also learned about her past and where she actually came from, it was indeed an enriching experience for me.

I had some mixed feelings of that of joy and sorrow while clicking this shot. It made me salute the spirit with which she is trying to make the ends meet, with a smile, and at the other I realized that there is another side to a red light signal. For people travelling on vehicles the red light signal is just a stopover, causing delays in their life, and for people like these it is chance to make their living. An irony of situation and what one thing can mean totally different things to different people.

I wish we all could keep an upbeat mood, as she did, no matter what the circumstances are. All I could do was just salute to her spirit to live life to the fullest.

Subtle beauty is underrated in my opinion. The sweetness of inner beauty is definitely overlooked. Sure, people give lip service to inner beauty but who really strives to cultivate it?

On a recent trip to Florida, the hotel we stayed at had a small pond behind it.

Much to my surprise one morning I opened the curtains to the patio and saw a man in one of the adjacent rooms feeding a bunch of ducks. When I grabbed my camera and opened the door to step outside and get a few shots, they heard the door slide open and raced over - waddling in super sonic duck speed - no doubt in hopes of getting another free handout.

Sadly I had nothing to offer so they hurried back over to where the man stood waiting patiently for them to return.

Too much contrast lately; too much colour. Don't get me wrong at all, I do like those things I just feel like something different today.
