A telephoto image above the trees of Strathglass captures the regal majesty of the sweeping summits of Strathfarrar and beyond.

Many elegant and mighty “Munros” separate Affric from Cannich

and Cannich from Strathfarrar, several fringing on 4,000 feet.

Combined with lower slopes of Scots Pine, Spruce and Silver Birch and island-studded lochs, that reflect every season in symmetrical splendour, these glens are irresistible.

Often in autumn the colour is effectively doubled as evenings are calm, still and the fresh-water lochs are like a veritable mirror.

Such a day was this and the images were simply sublime.

Sublime: São Felix, Bahia, Brasil. On Explore on March 30th.

This is the superb view from Stanage Edge which is located in the High Peak area of the Peak District Nation Park. It was an incredibly windy February afternoon but always worth the hike up.

On October 10 I went to a business meetup organized by the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco. On that day Earth was subjected to strong solar winds, which caused auroras way into the continental USA. After the event I drove along the Skyline Boulevard, a road that follows the ridge of the hills that separate the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean. After taking some shots of the aurora facing north, I turned around and took this shot of the moon rising over a sea of fog. The vintage "Dream Lens" creates these weird lens flares, which I love.

I processed a realistic and a balanced HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Inside the beautiful St Paul’s Cathedral London.

I'm really glad I got a few shots I'm happy with last week on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, before this ridiculous shutdown! This was dusk at Point Sublime. The colors really were sublime there. Beautiful spot.

I've since given up and headed down to an actual RV park near Williams. (last week I was just dry camping out in the middle of the woods for free)

The owners of the park were telling me yesterday how it has been breaking their hearts seeing these devastated families showing up at the park this week on their way to the Grand Canyon. A lot of them hadn't even heard about the problem.

How sad and unfair. Families flying all the way here from Europe. renting an RV, stopping here on their way to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion??? Only to informed when they are finally just an hour away from the park, sorry, were closed. Like the first Vacation movie with Chevy Chase.

WTF is wrong with this government? Don't the parks belong to the people.

Perfect combination when I saw this subject of yellow flower, sunny day and the background in dark shadow.

My own philosophical enquiry into the origin of our ideas of the sublime and the beautiful.
